“Are you going to listen to the book tape (The Guts To Try) on the drive down today?” he asked.

I was sitting in my car, ready to back out of the driveway. “No!”

“No?”

“No, I don’t think I’d better. I will listen to it or read the book itself or whatever eventually but I don’t think I’d better do it today. I am sick from this, do you understand? I am physically ill. You don’t understand the impact this has had on me.”

Well, P, I…”

“Stop right there. We aren’t talking about you. We already know what you did, why you did and blah, blah, blah. We are always inundated with your reality but I have a reality of my own and it’s very different from yours and I have a problem right now you would not imagine.”

I remarked last week how all these things came together last Monday in some kind of weird synchronicity. This happens to the soldier and I a lot and most times while it’s impossible to miss I also find it impossible to judge or even to parse. You know it means something but what?

“Look,” I said to the soldier today. “It will be the last day of the year and here this will all be going down with my daughter. And where will you be? About 3 miles away? 3 miles! Can you believe that? How can the universe set something up like this?. What are the odds?” I asked.

“Sounds like par for the course to me. For us, anyway. If it were anyone else you’d notice but for us, it always happens like this.”

I remembered accidently landing at that wedding in a Catholic Church in St. Paul… a few hours after we met a truck stop with one of soldier’s songs blaring into the parking lot on outdoor speakers - Freda Payne’s Band Of Gold.

“Well I don’t know how to parse it. It always makes me think of Apocalypse Now (a movie we saw together when it was released). At the end of that movie they are killing… sacrificing that animal, well you know. There are these things going on all at once and you are left to figure out what it all means. I don’t know what it all means but it seems I should. Should something not be obvious?”

“Don’t know, P. I just know this is how it goes for us.”

Do you get more than your share of bizarre happenings like this? Why do you think that is? Anyone have a theory.

I had a very rough weekend. The eclipse set off the Pluto transit to my Moon and…

My daughter is ill, but today she went to school and I got to the gym which is a relief and a refuge for me. It’s a sanctuary and on good days I leave my phone in the locker.

But on days like today when I think I might hear from the school, I take my phone with me, so I had it in my hand when the soldier called. I was not expecting the call.

“Yeah?” I said.

“P. I can’t talk. I only have a minute.”

“I know.”

So he talked for a minute. “You okay? I just want to make sure you’re ok. And tell you that it’s bright here,” he said. ‘You go have yourself a bright day, P.”

I hung up, glad to have his energy. I am in some trouble right now, in the Petri dish that is the gym. And feeling stressed about my daughter, I am not really up to dealing with it. This gal, the Sagittarian I’ve mentioned…who I will have to find a nickname for told me the other night, she’d never seen someone with so many coincidences in their life. And I do think I have more than my share.

Like the time Ben spotted my mother on the street. And I have so many examples like that. Like the Two Pisces story I just told. This stuff happens to me all the time. In fact, it happens so frequently I would have to call it “common” where my life is concerned. And satori told me she felt this was evidence - A reason to have faith. And it does feel that way. It feels as if I am in the right place with the right people.

When I met the Sagittarian for the first time, she called it “God talkin’”

“When you mailed back to say you lived here, I said to myself, if that ain’t God talkin’ I don’t know what is. You’re supposed to meet this person…” she said.

And when she told me this blog was on her work computer…well hell. What are the odds?

So what about you? Do you ever have these kinds of experiences? How do you feel about them? What do you think things like this mean?

I mentioned that Ben’s Aquarius rising is conjunct Scott’s Aquarius Moon, but here’s another story:

Ben and I met at work and as unusual as the friendship was, it was growing and had spilled into our off time. We had begun to pal around together. This was about 20 years ago.

I was driving, Ben was riding shotgun, and his cello was sticking out of the trunk of the car. A little brown Toyota, just so you have a visual. We had picked his cello up after repair or something like that and we were going down the main street in the desert city of 1/2 million people, when he spotted a woman walking down the street.

“Look!” he said. “There she is! Would you just look at that woman. Boy would I like to meet her. I’ve seen her since the day I moved here. Now that is an interesting person…”

I interrupted him. “That’s my mother,” I said.

It was too.

I pulled over and introduced them.

And the astrology? My mother’s Sun is at the same degree as Scott’s Moon and Ben’s ascendant.

And all three of know something (about each other) I don’t.
