After watching that movie, or part of it, I asked the soldier if he thought the psychologist knew he was being bullshitted.  He said  he didn’t know and neither of us were interested enough to watch and try to find out because the lying killer was so nauseating.

ep delurks to remark on Sociopaths - A Users Guide

“All the sociopaths I’ve witnessed will cross the line eventually, in that when their shenanigans finally catch up to them, they try to shift blame onto their closest associates. *relurks*”

ep - good point, but I think there are some who never see it catch up. I expect that one of the reasons is they’re able to see where certain lines are and manage themselves.

I don’t think there are hard and fast rules when you get way out there on the continuum. You have to take them on a case by case basis which is one of the points I meant to make.

I am mulling something today, maybe you can help me. I am supposed to be done studying psychopaths but they still come up. The soldier and I both have extensive, up close and personal experience with sociopathy and consequently we’ve had the opportunity to compare notes and analyze this phenomenon in depth.

While psychopaths have this one thing in common: they have no remorse, there are marked differences between individuals. If you happen to have a sociopath in your life, who you can’t (or don’t want to) get rid of, it pays to define them. This is possible if you’re willing to get in close enough and it occurs to me this study must be related to Saturn’s transit of my 8th house (psychology). “Define”, see?

Last night at the Moon square Pluto in Capricorn I got thinking about OJ Simpson.

“What if you were his mother?” I asked the soldier.

“You’d have that maternal instinct,” he said.

“Yeah but what if you get around that and you know what your son is.  You’re standing in the kitchen and he’s visiting. He comes by with his Nicole look-a-like girlfriend, because they all are. All his women have Nicole hair, they look just like her so he’s standing there with one of them and you’re in the kitchen and you look in his eyes.”

Send the sociopath after the sociopath - seems right to me.

Then the soldier called to tell me he was on the road on the same route I took when we met up in Beaver, Utah and it’s sort of funny because he’s retracing my steps and boy were we fighting that day. This story was one of the results of that trip - I love the Spy meets Spy theme, of course I would. Have you ever met someone so fascinated with the opposition in astrology? Probably not.

Here’s the video and Beaver, Utah was also the place the soldier was mistaken as Boba Fett…

Interesting. I have this flurry of ideas - good ones even and by all rights I shouldn’t. I am going to shift gears into this class (don’t worry I will) but I also have a story half written, 700 things to do in real life, plus all these ideas keep coming to me. For example, sociopaths!

I was thinking about them as I stood outside in the cold grilling chicken in my socks like a freak. I know so much about them that by God, I may know as much about them as anyone out there you could find (save Lonnie Athens) and due this I know some things not so common to know.

I was talking to the soldier…

“Remember that girl, it was 1979 and she shot at those kids in the playground across the street from her house? They wrote a song about her, I don’t like Mondays,” I said.

“Yeah, that was the Boomtown Rats, wasn’t it?”

“Right. Well I vividly recall when that happened. It was astonishing. People were flabbergasted. We were shocked and horrified and she was the first, I think. Do you recall a kid shooting up a school prior to that?”

“No I think she was the first and she’s been copied since. Copy cats.”

“Yeah, well she was a pure sociopath,” I said. “Brenda Ann.” I read him her quotes after the slaughter. But what strikes me is that this is now commonplace now. Kids shoot up schools - Period. You hear about it and we are used to it now. We just accept this as a culture. We know that some percentage of children are going to be killed at school by other children and at some point we as a culture are going to have to stop and take a look at why this is and what has gone wrong.”
