“Yeah? Well what do they want?”

“I don’t know. They want a man who cries, I guess. They want their men to cry all the time.”

I just stared because I think by and large this is true.

I snorted.

This is true of course but why? Why is there a saying, “Hell have no fury like a woman scorned…” but no equivalent saying regarding men?

“I said I was a man’s woman,” I told the soldier.

“You’re a woman’s woman,” he said.

“You think?” I said, because I think I am a woman’s woman too. I help women all day long never mind I sued a man for sexual harassment when I was 17 years old and the concept of sexual harassment was on the absolute fringe of society. What is that if you a woman’s woman?

“P, you’re a woman / woman. You’re just a woman all the way around.”

I was pretty sure I knew what he meant. Women are nurturing. They are caretakers. We may be able to do all kinds of other things but at the heart of it, there is estrogen in the equation and I don’t think it can be denied.

dukkha, it’s moon for sure, but I think this may apply to men in general in large part. You just don’t see many men don’t see many men crying (overtly) about a women who is going or gone. The soldier talks about this a lot, he has definitely seen his share of men broken up over women men and when I hear these stories I get the distinct idea the women have no idea they have delivered such a punch.

Today I complained about how the men around here don’t do their share (I mean they don’t do anything) around keeping the house up. The soldier listened carefully and then told me it was entirely my fault for not commanding my troops well enough… or for that matter, not commanding them at all.

“You can’t expect a man to know what to do if you don’t tell him what to do,” he insisted. “There is no one here who won’t do whatever you want us to do but you have to come up with what it is you want us to do. Write it down! Then if it’s not done you can say, do it motherfucker, it’s just job! It’s says so right there,” he said pointing his finger at the hologram lists of chores. Now get off you ass and do what you’re supposed to do!”
