You might remember a week or so back the soldier met a missileer. He talked him for two days without mentioning he was a missileer himself. I wrote about because I thought it was interesting and a week or so later he had cause to call this guy who happens to live in Denver.

“He said we ought to take the wives out to dinner,” the soldier said.

Saturn (and Uranus) is square the Sun and Mars and many of you know Mars Saturn has a horrible reputation in astrology.

If there is one thing I would like to accomplish in this world, it would be to get people to see that every gift is a curse in exact proportion and vice versa. I am sure this is the case which is why I react so strongly to negative interpretation of various aspect or transits.

Regarding today’s Mars Saturn square I’ll offer up something the soldier said to me this morning. He’s got this aspect natally and we were talking about some difficulty we are having in tandem with others in our inner circle:

“You don’t pick schlups for the work that needs to be done in life and in the world,” he said.

This is a bad day for schlups but the rest of us just do the job.

It’s been about 10 years since someone wanted to argue the validity of astrology with me. I’m glad because I am at a total loss when they do. How is someone supposed to (un)convince me of something I have seen validated on daily (hourly) basis for almost 40 years?

Today’s evidence?

The soldier has that Mercury, Mars, Saturn T-square, yes? He’s spent his life around artillery, motorcycles, missiles, shrapnel, trucks, steel, machining, knives and guess what he’s up to now?

As of today he’s become an apprentice blacksmith.

::snorts::

Yep. He’s going to bang some hot metal around just for the hell of it. An older man (Saturn) will be teaching him but you could have guessed that right?

maureen - The soldier has no idea that anyone likes him and in fact thinks hardly anyone does or ever will. He thinks his mother loves him but only because she’s his mother and does not seem to be able to fathom what is obvious to me. People clamor to be around him because his energy is so good. He is funny and smart and just plain inexplicable and a delight.

Today is the anniversary of the soldier’s father’s death, so pulling this up to commemorate…

“The woman is always right,” he soldier said. “This is what I was taught. My father taught me and my brother that you never hurt a woman. No matter what she does you can’t do anything back and this is just the way it was. And my sisters took full advantage, believe me. They did all kinds of stuff to my brother and I, but we could never do anything back to them.”

“I see”

“Yeah and if we complained, he just started singing,” he said with a grin.

“Singing what?”

“Oh he’d sing that song, “Downtown”.

“Petula Clark?” I snorted.

“Yeah. Downtown!” he sung. “Things’ll be brighter there! Downtown…”

“Yeah, I know it. Forget all your troubles… oh my God, that’s hysterical. You couldn’t be any funnier, shut your kid right up!”

What were you taught about the genders?

The soldier and I have that Mercury opposition with Mars involved on both sides and we challenge each other almost mindlessly. We both think very little of the direction this (the US) is continuing to move in and we like to talk about what we might do in various circumstances. You know. Like if I get famous and nosy people show up, he is going to shoot them.

1) Why won’t he fly?

I think you are sort of new around here. The soldier was in Special Forces for many years. He has (well) over 200 jumps into combat but hates flying. He has a fear of heights actually. Being a Taurus and likes to be on the ground.

He loves to fight though. He loves battle in every way shape or form so much he willing to jump out of a plane to be in the middle of one but now that his fighting days are over he’s got no motivation to get on a plane and it is well understood by those who know and love him, if he’s traveling, it’s by car.

Regarding the Mercury, Mars and Saturn energy I referenced this morning (War Tactics)  I wanted to comment on the drive to learn and ambition to be the best that the soldier exemplifies. This energy is impacting the collective now in the form of the Saturn Mars conjunction in Virgo and I was thinking of something the soldier said awhile back that posted.

He stated very plainly that a person would never be more than mediocre if they did not really apply themselves… do more than the others and I heard this in another form a couple years ago when I learned (to my shock at the time) that a child with normal abilities that applies themselves will surpass a gifted child at about middle school age.

I think it’s good to hear this and to know it and I also think we have lost a lot of our ambition in this culture. As satori told me yesterday, “Everyone gets a trophy.”  We don’t want anyone to feel bad so all the kids get a trophy even if only half of them did what was asked of them and consequently we seem to have a generation of people who lack drive and have a sense of entitlement.

It’s not everybody mind you but I think this is significant. Nobody seems to want to be excellent anymore. They want to hook up with someone excellent but what about being excellent yourself?

This weekend we attempted to watch Apocalypse Now. We didn’t quite get through it yet but it’s a movie we saw in the theater when it was first released. It is one of my favorite movies of all time for a variety of reasons and I was surprised when the soldier said he had not seen the movie since he saw it with me 30 years ago.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I said. “How can that be? All you do is watch war movies. Not a week goes by you don’t watch a war movie.”

“No, I only saw it that once.”

“Did you not like it?”

The Moon is in Libra forming a Cardinal T-Square and if you pay attention you will see people move to control other people. Since you are a person you will probably do this as well.

Mars conjunct Saturn repeats this theme. It’s a good day to avoid violent people with no boundaries… violent people with boundaries are okay.

Ha ha ha, I am the only person I know who can get away with saying something like that.
