More Fiery Love! Meet Patty Smyth
Astrology in real life
Mars in Libra loves aggressive fiery love. There is affinity the current sky - Venus in Aries so I’m milkin’ it and this is Patty Smyth…
“Yeah, begged for that job,” the soldier said. “For one thing I liked her and I knew I would like guarding her but besides that we were patrolling at the (omitted) border and it was just cold as hell. I mean, it was freezing and I had been out there awhile and I really wanted to get inside and get out of the cold for awhile so I begged for the assignment and I got it.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah and it was great.”

Astrology, Love And Mars: What About Battle Damage?
Commenting on the comments…
Avery writes on Extreme Anger And Frustration:
Elsa? As a friend… you guys have a lot of fights. A LOT of fights. I know you were aware that you needed someone who could handle conflict, and that it took a Special Forces-trained warrior to fill that bill, but do you think you can sustain this level of love-battle over time? If so, how does this mesh with your Mars in Libra, which to my understanding, really craves peace?
Not trying to undermine what you’ve got going here (it sounds kind of hot, tell you the truth), just trying to understand.

Anne Of Green Gables - Mars In Libra?
Astrology in real life
“What? You don’t think you’re like Anne (of Green Gables)? I think you’re just like her,” the soldier said.
“Oh yeah. I see the correlation. Beginning of the movie she is talking care of everyone and they still tell her she sucks. That’s familiar. And then when she gets a chance to get out of there she has to do some fast talking. She has to sell herself. The quality of her life depends on it.”

Is That A Capricorn Trait? Well, No. Something Much More Deadly - Libra!
Commenting on the comments
I talked about not letting people rush your game in regards to playing cards on the Mercury Retrograde video. Alma asked:
“Would you say that not letting anyone rush your game is a Capricorn trait?”
Alma, I don’t think so. Being 8 and 9 and 10 years old and wanting to play cards with adult men in the first place is a Capricorn trait. I was ambitious.
Strategy of this type would be a function of my Mars Mercury conjunction in Libra. I want to win, see? MARS. Mars always wants to win, so Mercury is going to figure out how and since Libra is a Cardinal sign, we are talking control. I am going to control (Libra) the speed of the game (Mercury) so I can win (Mars).
And I’d do it in a Libra way. I’d go into hostess mode or something.
“Say. “Did everyone get some cake?” ::big pleasant smile:: “I got the recipe from Tammy, she lives down the street. Do any of you know, Tammy? She’s married to Fred…”
::blink blink with the eyes:: while I think. Maybe drop a shoulder. You know. Venus for Godsakes! Veeee-ness!
And then when I’ve decided what card to play, I’d toss it into the pile with one more superficial comment about the weather and a few minutes later I am raking in the pot.
Anyone else with Libra care to cop to stuff like this?

Lousy Starving Mars in Libra - What About The Flip Side and How Much Control Should One Exert?
Astrology in Real Life…
I loved the comments on this blog, “Libra Mars Starves To Death While Being Polite: Is This Smart?” but I was surprised nobody argued the other side of this. The Libra side that is. Because matter of fact he was rude in that situation. If you are going to spend the day with someone shouldn’t you maintain some awareness of their reality? Or is it every man for himself, all the time and if you can’t keep up, you’re trampled. Even the most hardened soldier (Aries) is taught to carry his wounded buddy from the battlefield!
I wondered if I should talk to him about this. Should I tell him he could be more sensitive? Should I traaaaain him?
And I thought it would be all right to do this, in spite of it being controlling on some level. It would be an attempt to dictate his behavior but considering he is highly interested and motivated to partner with me well… I like a chivalrous man. And he might very much appreciate being given the keys to the secrets of keeping ME (Aries) happy and content.
Further, his n. node is in LIBRA in the 7th (the LIBRA) house which strongly suggests his highest calling this life is to become aware of the other.
But does this mean it’s my job to teach him? In the end I decided to forget about all that (at least for now) and adjust my own behavior. Because why teach him when I can learn myself? What’s the better investment, asks Capricorn? ::snorts::
And here’s the kicker: Everything in this post reeks of control every way you turn it And I don’t think there is one thing that could or should be done about it. Fact is, the Cardinal signs exist and I am sure there is a reason. Surely Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are a necessary part of the landscape. It’s no different than Scorpio with a knife. They can cut you, bay-beee. But heal or kill, it’s all in how they use their resource.
So for the Cardinal signs perhaps the ticket is having command of our command. What do you think?

Libra Mars Starves To Death While Being Polite: Is This Smart?
Astrology in Real Life…
So this is the disturbing story of my stoopid, lousy Libra Mars in action…
I was with ‘the other”. It was lunchtime and I was feeling hungry. “Are you hungry? I asked.
“No,” he said. I waited but he didn’t ask me if I were hungry. How rude is that?
An hour passed.
“You hungry?” I asked.
“Me? No, I’m not hungry.”
I stared. How could he not ask me if I were hungry? How?!?! Is he missing a lobe of his brain?
Another hour passed.
“Are you hungry?” And come on people. By now it should be obvious I am hungry, right? I was starved out of my mind!
“A little. Not really.”
::smiles::
Now I thought about saying I was hungry but I wondered just how thoughtless this guy could be. And how could he be so stupid and rude, too? How is it possible to be this insensitive!!! You know. How ruuuuuuuddde, says Libra.
I almost wanted to find out how long he could go without a thought for my well-being… and long story short, eventually we ate. And then I got home and I started thinking about this.
Why is it that when I’m hungry, I have to ask if the other is hungry so that I can eat? Why not just say, I’m hungry, I am going to eat. Or, I’m hungry, let’s get something to eat? Good God, could I possibly be more co-dependent?
But I never noticed this before because guess what? The AMF had Mars in Libra as well and we sounded like this, with the bits of conversation interchangeable:
“You hungry?”
“No, are you?”
“A little.”
“Oh, then we better get you something to eat.”
See that? We were both taking care of each other all the time, so no problem. But if you have Mars in Libra and you are running with Aries you better learn to say, I AM HUNGRY - FEED ME NOW or you are going to starve. Starve and then get pissed about it? Starve and then say it’s their fault?
Is it the other person’s fault because I can’t manage to say, I’m hungry? What kind of jacked up social pleasantry thing is this? I’m hungry so I ask if you’re hungry so you will ask if I am hungry?
::coughs::
Never again. From now on (unless I am running with tribe aka another Libra Mars) when I want to eat I am going to say, “I want to eat” and see if this doesn’t simplify things for me.
Do you ask people if they are hungry because you want to eat?

Mars Broken In Libra, But What About Aries? Who Is Lousy? Can We Decide? What Does Elbert Wade Have To Say?
Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…
Recently I’ve become aware of some very shadowy manifestations of my Mars (in detriment) in Libra. Eventually I will probably get my nerve up and write about it but to be very candid writing things like this is doubly hard. First because I have to reveal my weakness in plain terms with real life examples which I actually don’t mind all that much. The part that is exceedingly difficult is the defending this once I’ve done it which becomes necessary because it is not politically correct to say, “This Mars in Libra is a lousy Mars!”
And though it’s true you can get things done with Mars in Libra… I can obviously fight like crazy and exercise like a machine, fact is it’s is a lousy Mars but other people with Mars in Libra might not like hearing this! You know. There is a high expression of everything and blah, blah, blah. Like I don’t know that! I do know that, but it is still a lousy Mars!
::ducks::
So anyway, I was lying around last thinking about the lousy things I have learned about my lousy Mars in Libra over the last week and being very aware I ought to cultivate qualities of of Mars in Aries. Directness and so forth, that is. And then when I came across this, which made me feel a lot better.
This is astrologer (and writer… I love his writing), Elbert Wade on an Aries client he had once. Ha ha ha ha, at least I’m not her!
Aries, You Are — But What? by Elbert Wade
Turns out I’m a mess, you’re a mess which must also mean, I’m okay, you’re okay. Ha ha ha, Libra. Two sides, bay-beeeee! There are always two sides!
Do you have Mars in Libra or know someone who does? Please (asks Libra politely) tell us how it’s lousy… or not. If you can decide, that is.

Fighting The Fence Guy With Polite Lace While Holding Off Mars - Good Luck To Me: Pluto?
Astrology in Real Life…
goatish writes: “Have him put the posts on your side of the fence…”
goatish - maybe. It will look like hell though and I am not even sure it can be done because the cross pieces are on his side, so how to attach? I don’t know enough about fences…
I will go to the city tomorrow, I guess. The guy has escalated things today by taking down these slats he put up to replace some that have come off (I didn’t live here then), as threatened.
That’s fine… the slats belong on my side anyway and I am happy to replace them. But he obviously wants to play.
Thing is there are other men around me who also want to play:
“What’s in it for him? Well today, he gets a free fence repair and no dog shitting in his yard. What’s in for him tomorrow? A lawsuit and then he gets to pay. What’s in it for him the day after that if he still wants to be a bother? Well then I guess he’s going to get his ass kicked like he’s never had it kicked before and after that he’ll decide to leave you alone….”
Oh brother. And all of this sprung up out of nowhere. I have lived here for 7 out of 10 years and never seen this guy before in my life before yesterday. And it turns out, when you have a neighbor like this, ignorance is bliss! Because now there is some seething thing in my back yard. It’s so Pluto.
When Pluto transits your Moon you have to wonder about “death” at your house (Moon). And for awhile there… for more than a year, my daughter’s life was at serious risk. But now she seems okay. Seeeeeeems. And this other thing is forming and to call it merely “unnerving” would be an understatement.
Because just as I can’t control this neighbor, I also can’t control Mars. I can only use my own Mars, which is unfortunately broken in Libra which means I have to be nice, fair and of course, non-violent! I have to pretty much fight by spreading doilies all over the place and I dunno. I can do my best. I can be well-meaning all day but it’s like rain. If the clouds decide to rain, then the clouds decide to rain and the rain comes down.
On the upside (Libra balance) I did have a person remind me that historically speaking, I do tend to find ways to resolve things like this, which encouraged me. So I’m just hoping I can manage this again and all the sick foreboding is nothing but that… sick foreboding.

Bears and Mars… In Libra: Kindness vs Prowess
Ask the Collective…
So on Mars and my bear status, it was very uncomfortable coming to terms with this side of my nature. I guess we all like to think of ourselves in positive light. I know I do. But over the years I am more and more willing to deal in reality and the more I do, the more I see how ridiculous it is not to.
Am I better off to be aware I that I can and will effectively defend myself? Or should I kid myself and others by playing powerless or endlessly kind? I think this is a profound struggle for Mars in Libra who wants to be perceived as “nice”.
Do you tend to present as “endlessly kind”?
