Instant Karma, Truth and Violence in General

leonard cohensatori and I. We’re still talkin’. Well, mostly me. But this is my bent…

“So as far as I am concerned the gal in Leonard Cohen’s poem… well, he just wrote her down, exactly. Which I think is nervy. But think about it. They run into each other - these ex-lovers. And she tells him his eyes are dead. What happened to you, Lover?” I smirked. “Like he’s broken or something. What the hell kind of thing is that to say? Who would to say something like that? It’s awful. It’s awful and it’s arrogant. Isn’t that how it sounds to you? Doesn’t that sound arrogant? You know? Uppity? Pretentious? Oh, your eyes are dead.”

“Yeah.”

“Well, I think so. So he goes home and writes a poem about her. He immortalized her in this poem and all it is the truth! It’s not hateful. It’s not vindictive. He says she lost her beauty and in fact she has. Because anyone who could and would say something like that, obviously has no beauty to them. How can make a comment like that and be beautiful, inside or out?” Continue reading Instant Karma, Truth and Violence in General

Art, Astrology, and the Uranus Transit Through Pisces: Sleep With Her Husband At Your Own Risk

leonard cohen energy of slavesAlison writes on the Pluto Uranus conjunction blog

In the sixties we did see new ways of being; the pill gave sexual liberation, revolutionary art, poetry, music and fashion. However, having observed my fellow peers with Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo there is a deep conservatism in this bunch. Like the Virgo is private and this group can keep their radicalness private and not on display. Some friends (of this group) have very mainstream, suburban, straight lives on the surface - but dig a little deeper and there will be an (one ?) aspect of their lives that is very naughty, risque and/or potentially criminal, experimental, creative. Many choose safe lives on the surface whilst being underground mavericks. Would love to hear more from Elsa with her knowledge an experiences with this curious lot.

Alison, you got it. And I agree with your take on this and here’s an example. This is the same friend here. Satori, who is a Pisces with her sun opposite the Pluto Uranus conjunction.

“Listen to this,” I said, reading from Leonard Cohen’s book, Energy Of Slaves:

I left a woman waiting
I met her sometime later
She said, Your eyes are dead
What happened to you, lover

And since she spoke the truth to me
I tried to answer truly
Whatever happened to my eyes
Happened to your beauty

O go to sleep my faithful wife
I told her rather cruelly
Whatever happened to my eyes
Happened to your beauty

“See that! Don’t tell Leonard Cohen his eyes or dead or he’ll write a poem about you! Gah. How would you like to be that gal?” Continue reading Art, Astrology, and the Uranus Transit Through Pisces: Sleep With Her Husband At Your Own Risk

Art, Astrology, and the Uranus Transit Through Pisces: Leonard Cohen and the Pluto Uranus Conjunction of the 60’s Generation

Ask the Collective…

leonard cohenMy friend, satori is a Pisces born in the sixties with the Pluto Uranus conjunction in Virgo opposing her Sun. With Uranus transiting Pisces, I have been witnessing her liberation and kickin’ it up a gear whenever I think I can.

“Well I think you should check out some of this stuff that was born when you were. The art, I mean. The creative stuff. And I mean get the purest stuff you can find. Like Leonard Cohen’s poetry from the era. It’s very potent. He writes about taboo sex. He writes this stuff and he does not screw around. He puts it right on the paper, the energy of your generation in just a very few words. And for me it’s one thing. For you it would be another, but I do think it would impact you, because it is you. The poems were born when you were born and you share something with them.” Continue reading Art, Astrology, and the Uranus Transit Through Pisces: Leonard Cohen and the Pluto Uranus Conjunction of the 60’s Generation

Leonard Cohen Redux - Astrology, Storytelling, Dance, Movie-making, the Dissecting Art: Virgo / Pisces Polarity

Commenting on the comments…

balletSilverfoot left this great comment on the blog about the film, “Ladies and Gentlemen… Mr. Leonard Cohen” : “…watched it in Documentary film class last year. and I am a big Cohen fan, but even taking my bias into account, that film is brilliant. So much of it is set up in a kind of candid camera style, like the cameraman is just recording the events as they happen, but then they let Cohen subvert that, and reveal the constructed nature of documentary film.

So for me, it was the “CAVEAT EMPTOR” bit that really grabbed me. His need to be a double agent working for the audience, to show them the film is not entirely ‘devoid of the con.’ There’s something vaguely Virgo/Neptune going on there…needing to be upfront with the ‘truth,’ but doing it stylishly.”

Silverfoot, my sister is a Pisces and a dancer / choreographer. And she explained once how difficult and frustrating it was to work so hard to make something magic (a dance) only to have Virgo come along and point the strings that hold up the puppets.

“I saw a wire in Act 2,” says Virgo. “That’s how they did that.”

And the whole illusion Pisces has worked so hard to create is now kaput! “It’s ruined by the Virgo,” she said. And I have experienced the same thing with my storytelling. Ladies and Gentlemen… Mr. Leonard Cohen - For the Eclipse in Virgo

Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…

leonard cohen ladies and gentlemanLast night I watched “Ladies and Gentlemen… Mr. Leonard Cohen” filmed in 1965 and I enjoyed on many levels. I have to say I really like watching this stuff filmed when Pluto and Uranus were conjunct because it’s imbued with this powerful energy.

The movie is documentary… the camera follows Cohen around as he meets, greets, sleeps, walks, ponders and bathes. It’s well worth a look for the poetry and for the retro fashion, but I was especially struck by the ending.

Cohen is a Virgo with Pisces Moon. He has Venus in Virgo conjunct Neptune at the same degree so there is another Virgo/Pisces exchange. And after the movie ends, there’s an addendum that has Cohen analyzing himself on film.

It’s very Virgoan but what killed me is he was remarking on how remarkable it was to see himself sleeping. The thing is, he’s not really sleeping in the movie. He’s only pretending (Neptune) to be asleep. And you see him stare at his “faking being asleep” self and you can see him thinking before he concludes this is an even better privilege. “Everyone wants to know what they look like when they are pretending, right?”

I had to laugh. Maybe this is what all those porn stars are up too, eh?

Would you be curious to see yourself pretending?

The Secret Lives Of Virgo: They All Have Them! Appealing or Otherwise

Just Blathering…

loren sophiaSpeaking of the secret lives of Virgo, disgraced politician, Mark Foley is a Virgo.

So is Michael Jackson.

So is the very clean Hugh Grant… who was caught cheating on his model girlfriend with a whore, Divine Brown. Whoops!

How are these for examples of secret lives?

And don’t go jumping on this because there are other, classier examples. For example, Virgo, Sophia Loren. Years ago when a reporter yelled at her, “Hey Sophia! What are you doing with that old man?” (Carlo Ponti)

“None of your business!” she yelled back.

So there you go. Some Virgos are aware of their secret lives, others delude themselves.

For example, Leonard Cohen, another Virgo acknowledges his secret life in his song, “In My Secret Life“. He does it again in another song, “The Future“. But the Mark Foley types are far more common. I mean, he’s an extreme example but this is the point:

leonard cohenVirgo likes to see themselves as innocent maiden do-gooders. The men as well at the women, this is. So they just deny all the heinous things they do which are easily as numerous as the rest of peeps in the zodiac.

Virgo’s cheat on their taxes, on their husbands and wives. They act like punks just like everybody else in the zodiac and just as frequently.

But you best be careful pointing this out to them because by and large, they won’t like it. Virgo wants to be flawless, see. So they project the Pisces, the sign opposite, the sign that knows everything is askew, away from themselves. And this has an unfortunate affect, obviously.

The really smart Virgos embrace and even covet their secret life. And these are the Virgos who have tremendous appeal. Like Sophia Loren.

Isn’t she always pulled together? Look how she presents. Perfection! She’s a textbook Virgo (Virgin). Can you imagine her showing up for work with with her hair messed up from last night’s sex? Forget about it! She’s a Virgo!

But she doesn’t claim sainthood. Obviously she’s drawn to the old man and has been since she was 15. So what do you think they’re up to? Hmm. None of your business!

Compare to Foley who takes a public stance against what he does in private. Ack! That’s bad Virgo.

So what about you? Come on Virgos. Speak! Do you have a secret life or not too sure about that? And what about the Virgos the rest of you know. Do you notice they deny the things about them that are not “pristine”?

For Molly: Neptune Transit to Venus: Venus Square Neptune - Leonard Cohen

Just Blathering

leonard CohenAstrologer, Molly who writes north-node and runs the node-a-rama message board posted about her current Neptune transit to natal Venus asking for input and other people’s experiences.

Well I just finished that transit and have about 400 stories, and here’s one of them:

Back when I was a kid, (15) I was homeless. I got off the street by becoming a live-in housekeeper. I will have to leave a lot out to keep this blog size, but long story short I was very lonely, especially in the evenings.

But I had pal - a running buddy and she got me a record player and I had a few albums. I had Bob Dylan’s, Planet Waves, which is a very lovesick album, and two Leonard Cohen albums.

Now if you know Cohen, then you know he is way too advanced for a 15 year old, however I got lost in his music anyway. And of course his chart aspects mine very tremendously as you may imagine. But anyway, I would lie in this bed in this stranger’s house…who scared the hell out of me and listen to this music in dark, fantasizing.

Now Cohen is pretty morose but an incredible poet and good looking. My type, that is. I have a thing for Jewish musicians…and I am about three months away from meeting Scott here by the way, who is ‚
