Open Question: Astrology And Ethics: Is It Fair To Get Person’s Birth Data When You Meet Them, Or An Invasion Of Privacy?
Ask the collective
PixieDust asks:
“Do you think you have an unfair advantage by knowing someone’s chart? I have no fear asking people’s birth data and check them out all the time. Every single guy I’ve dated has to give that info up from the start. Co-workers, family members, too. I get a good idea of what makes them tick. What does everybody think”
When I was actively studying astrology, I would get everyone’s data I could. Matter of fact I would go out to bars (my laboratory) and sit with my ephemeris in hand, talking shit, reading chart, telling jokes and just in general doing what I do. But as years passed I quit doing this completely. These days I almost never ask someone for their birth data because I do feel it is an invasion of their privacy.
That is not meant to judge another person, this is just my own feeling which is personal and I’ll explain it.

Claire-France Perez, Astrologer To The DC Madam Comments Regarding The Questioning Of Her Ethics
Astrology in real life
Last night I posted a piece by astrologer, Claire-France Perez, Astrologer To The DC Madam Comments Regarding Her Case And Suicide.
Astrologer, Doreen Gordon (rightly) questioned the ethics of Perez’s disclosure of what would be presumed to be privileged information in a comment. Perez responds:
Dear people,
Debra Jeane Palfrey was clear that we (my partner and I) were going to be writing up her case. I had no idea it would come post-mortem. I was given full permission to write anything I wanted, but had withheld it until after the trial. I naturally read everything about the trial and realized so much of my first impressions about her were true. She had Venus trined Mars, both in their own rulerships or exaltations, which gave her an attitude of “ethics” and high minded politeness, a kind of Mary Poppins primness upon she relied like we might walk on boulders, and not fear their breaking up.

Astrology, Ethics, Timing Of Transits And Counseling Skills
Astrology in real life
Hans writes on Timing In Astrology And A Visit To The Cemetery In Italy regarding the timing of transits:
“It rarely works for me, for transits. There were a few exceptions, like my Saturn return and when Uranus trampled all over my Sun in 7, but aside from that, I just don’t see it.”
Hans - That is interesting. I can always see it in someone else’s life. It is generally obvious to me but it’s very difficult to try to point things out to people. It’s as if they think I am trying to trick them into believing astrology or crystal balls or whatever else when I do. People wind up feeling unnerved as if I am shifty in some way and it’s just not worth it to bother. It may also be rude. Continue reading Astrology, Ethics, Timing Of Transits And Counseling Skills

Saturn In Virgo: The Case against Perfection: Ethics in the Age of Genetic Engineering by Michael J. Sandel
Outtakes and Various Other Sundries…
I’m reading this book, ‘The Case against Perfection: Ethics in the Age of Genetic Engineering .” It caught my eye at the library because it seemed relevant to Saturn in Virgo. It’s occurred to me that it’s my generation, with Pluto in Virgo who are trying to make people perfect.
I haven’t finished the book though I admire it. For one thing it’s a mere 150 pages and not a word wasted. Secondly, in spite of the title it seems to me midway through, the author is arguing FOR genetic engineering so I will interested to see how (or if) he turns this around.
But aside from that the author presents one scenario after another that really gets you thinking. For example, what if they split sports down the middle? Regular people on one field and enhanced (by whatever means) people on another? Who would the spectator go to see? The super athlete or the normal guy? Continue reading Saturn In Virgo: The Case against Perfection: Ethics in the Age of Genetic Engineering by Michael J. Sandel
