Pluto In Capricorn: The End Of The United States As I Have Known It?

Astrology in real life

selectunitedstates.jpgAlma asks on “What Are You Worried About?”:

“Elsa, you said you are “worried about the end of the United States” as you know it. I would be interested in hearing more about this, as it seems to be a topic on many people’s minds lately.”

Alma - I imagine I will probably do that but I have to get my nerve up. Do you know how many people hate me as it is? Damn.

Astrology And Children: Sun Conjunct Saturn @ 8 Years Old - Always Fraught With Problems, Laced With Pain

Astrology in real life

saturn planetMy poor kid. My son started school early (which is why he lies about his age there) and used to attend the magnet school for gifted and talented as well. It’s a public school, so free but you have to provide transportation. My daughter went there as well which is how I wound up driving a car pool for 6 years but anyway, 2 years ago I had to pull my son from this school due family hardship - my daughter’s illness.

Astrology As A Tool: Exploiting What Is Promised In The Natal Chart

Astrology in Real Life

sagittariusToday I have to go to a major meeting at my daughter’s school. I will be meeting with eight authority figures, and I am going to have to just sit there regardless of what they say. In other words, I can exert no control over the meeting.

Because I felt I was too close to the situation to access it and because I felt confident they were the professionals I made a decision a couple months ago to put the course of her education in their hands and now I have to follow through. And they have been investigating since and will share their findings with me today in what appears to be a very formal meeting. No matter what they say, I know I will be deeply impacted, of course I have Pluto transiting my Moon so what do you expect?

But this is not about me, it is about my daughter. And one of the reasons I decided I could do this was because of her chart.

My daughter has a 9th house Moon (education) trine Jupiter in Sagittarius (major benefit, more education) and I feel very simply that her education is guaranteed. It is protected. And I admit this is a leap of faith. It is a gamble (Jupiter) but it’s calculated. And I call something like this in a chart, a “natal promise”… or “what you get for free.”

Everyone has something that comes easy to them. You can see it in their chart and you can see it in their life. It’s enormously helpful if you can identify these things because you case stop worrying about them! Use the energy for something worthwhile. So what about you?

What do you get for free?

The Soldier and P - 44: The Professor Of Art History, Education and Lots and Lots and Lots of Encyclopedias - Scorpio Moon and the 8th House

plutoHis Scorpio Moon/Neptune in the 8th. My packed 8th house… and Neptune of course. Confusion reigns.

“So anyway, you were being undermined,” I said. “Our relationship was being undermined something fierce. And you were gone two days out of three.”

“I had to go, P.”

“I know. I am just telling you there was a lot of room for people to get in underneath. I was there to hold the fort down, you could say. And as the tide turned against you, I clammed up of course. I can’t fight all these people. They gained momentum.”

“I see.”

“Right. Like a pack of dogs. And I desperately needed someone to talk to. I needed to talk to you but found it impossible. And I was able to talk to this professor guy for awhile. He started out with the attitude that the peanut gallery… the masses did not glean who you were. Who I was dealing with. But he did.”

“But did he?” Continue reading The Soldier and P - 44: The Professor Of Art History, Education and Lots and Lots and Lots of Encyclopedias - Scorpio Moon and the 8th House

Jupiter Transit Through Sagittarius - Expand Your (Astrology) Education?

Astrology in Real Life…

zodiac jewelry pinI was on the phone with satori…

“Well I don’t know about learning more astrology. I’m not sure I have any interest and that probably sounds weird. But take my sister. Now she’s psychic. I don’t care what anyone says. The fact is she is psychic, and this is beyond dispute. And she can also read a chart. But after awhile, she decided she really didn’t need any more astrology. I mean she uses it. If she gets something psychically, she will always look at the chart. Because if it’s not in the chart, she knows she’s off base but beyond that, she really doesn’t need astrology. There is just no need for her to study any more because it’s much easier this other way.” Continue reading Jupiter Transit Through Sagittarius - Expand Your (Astrology) Education?

Jupiter in Sagittarius - Philosophy on Education

Astrology in Real Life…

graduation capMore from the conversation with my daughter around what to expect if she spoke to Denis from Cameroon..

“But honey. If you’re talking to Denis?”

“Yeah?”

“And you tell him you got a bad report card?”

“Yes?”

“Well he’s not going to be too impressed, believe me. He is not going to like that,” I said.

A couple weeks back, the soldier called on that phone and my daughter started talking to him. She wound up telling him she got a bad report card which meant I found out about my daughter’s report card from the soldier. So this is the kind of thing she does. She’s just talks to whoever about whatever is going on. And I can’t imagine where she got that… but anyway, I saw an opportunity here, so I took it.

“Yeah, Denis doesn’t think much of bad grades the people who get them,” I said. He’s got two daughters… they’re both in college. He does not believe in scrimping when it comes to education. That’s what he says, in fact. You should never scrimp on your education. He said that to me. It’s his belief.”

Education and a person’s beliefs are both Jupiter / Sagittarius ruled, as is “foreigners”.

“Scrimp? What is that?”

“It means be cheap. It means, not do your best. Denis thinks you should always try to learn as much as you can at all times. He doesn’t think much of people who do otherwise.”

“Oh,” she said, getting the message.

My daughter tests in the 99th percentile. She may be ill but with an intellect like that; there is no excuse for a bad report card.

Jupiter in Sagittarius - Higher Education, Diversity and Different Perspectives

Astrology In Real Life…

nyuBesides travel and culture, Jupiter rules education and while in New York, HQ took me to the ITP Winter Show at NYU, where he taught a course last semester. The show is an opportunity for the students to showcase their projects… a solar bikini that charges your iPod and keeps your beer cold, and various other ideas and inventions. The place was packed.

And I think HQ thought I was bored, but I was not. In fact, I was completely fascinated. Because I am from the desert! And like I said, I crave exposure to other cultures, which is exactly what college life in a major city, is to me. I may as well have been walking around India! So I was smiling inside, unbeknownst to him.

So some of HQ’s students had projects in the show and he stopped to chat with them while I stood nearby doing what I do. Observing that is. Absorbing. For example, he was chatting with one guy and he asked me what I thought about the guy as we walked away.

“I liked him,” I said. “And he sure has the right glasses. Did you see those glasses? They were strange and they worked. Hardly anyone can get glasses that good for their face so I am happy for him. He has an interesting way of presenting himself. His clothing…”

He just looked at me.

And a couple days later we were emailing around another gal he spoke to while I stood by. At the show, I told him I thought she was incredibly coy. To the point of caricature! But anyway, he was somewhat disappointed with the show and somewhat concerned I felt the same. He would not want to be wasting my time in New York with boring things! But I tried to explain I was not him. I was not necessarily reading things the way he was.

“Take the girl,” I said. “You’re thinking… I have no idea what. Something technology thing I guess. Or business. But I am standing next to you thinking, this girl has dance training. Look what she’s doing with her foot. Look at her posture, her carriage. So I am watching her and thinking about her parents taking her to ballet class when she is a little girl. And now she’s at NYU! She’s growing up and this is how she is turning out. And I am thinking about how incredibly coy she is and wondering what it would be like to date someone like that. How different she is from me…”

So there you go. It’s possible to have a perspective that is incredibly diverse from even your closest friends. And this is my preference. I want as many angles on a thing as possible. It’s why I love astrology, I suppose. It’s not flat!

Are most of your friends like-minded or no?

Pluto In Sagittarius: Tim and Bernadette Marquez and the Power of Education and Generosity

Outakes and Various Other Sundries… Astrology In Real Life

denver kidsI heard about this in the gym this morning: Tim Marquez and his wife Benadette are offering to pay for a college education for any child who graduates from three Denver high schools this year. 50 million dollars, people. They are giving 50 MILLION dollars to give these kids a chance. I came home and read about this and it made me cry like hell.

These are some highlights from articles in The Rocky Mountain News and the The Denver Post:

“Students graduating this spring from three Denver high schools will have their college costs covered under a new scholarship program that officials say will soon expand to all city high schools.”

“Students from South, Lincoln and Montbello high schools - who will pilot the program - jumped to their feet in a standing ovation for oilman Tim Marquez and his wife, Bernadette, whose $50 million donation is launching the private Denver Scholarship Foundation.”

“In Denver, 63 percent of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch - a federal benchmark of poverty.”

And look at this. All students:

“Asked whether students in the country illegally would be eligible, Tim Marquez said he wants to help all students, whatever their immigration status. State law requires proof of residency to get in-state tuition at public schools. “We want to help everybody we can and follow the law,” Marquez said.”

“I started crying because this means so much,” said Dominic McGee, 17, a Montbello High School senior. “This gives everyone an opportunity.”

Pluto (energy that empowers) in Sagittarius (education, generosity).

Why can’t everyone sitting on 50 million dollars do something like this? I will never understand. And giving begets giving, I think. Will these lucky souls, these students give to others in the future? I think so.

Do you know what it feels like to stand next to someone (poor) who just found out their kid will be going to college in six months? I do. Because this is what happened to me, today in the gym. I am moved to my core by this couple’s gift and send them a million thank yous on the wind.
