The nurse called for the soldier and I went in the office with him but not without having asked him earlier what he preferred. I figured he might be getting told he had cancer at any minute and I just didn’t want to do anything wrong in this sort of circumstance. Do you want to be alone when they tell you that you have cancer? Who knows? We hadn’t talked about it very much. He only had a few days notice, we’d been very busy since and besides that there is not that much to say.

Today’s Eclipse and Saturn is conjunct the soldier’s natal Pluto in the 6th house (health) so of course there has to be a health scare / death scare and he got it.

“Don’t you come here and die!” I said. “Don’t you… you get that Lonesome Dove movie out of your head!”

(He thinks he is the “Gus” character in Lonesome Dove and I am Clara, the Anjelica Huston character.)

“I don’t wanna, P.”

“Well okay. So just get that movie out of your head because I know it’s in there. And I know you are coming to me to die. I know it and you know it and you can do that. You can have your movie but for Godsakes you don’t have to die right away. You can die later, okay? Don’t you come here and up and die on me - first thing you do is die!”

Dear Virgo,

This is an inordinately interesting question. The short answer is that happiness comes from inside and nothing in the world is going to make you be happy if you are just not happy. Father figure, baby man, orange, yellow, green, pink… none of this is going to come to your aid so on that note, you are barking up the wrong tree. But as to your specific question, no. Finding a father figure is not going to make you happy. It hasn’t worked so far, right?

For 21 years you have been trying to replace your dad and while this is understandable, it is getting you nowhere. The fact is, you are your dad and processing his death is what is going to lead you to happiness.

As for the astrology, you have significant Scorpio and Pluto conjunct your Sun. You have inherited your father… he is right there with you and if you can see this, you can see that looking around outside yourself is not going find you anything. Instead get his picture out and look in the mirror.

Find the features you share with him. Your eyebrows, your mouth, the curl in your hair or whatever it is. Seeeee him in yourself and work to integrate the fact he is always with you because once you do this, you will be in a whole new land and probably much happier. Good luck.

The other day I was talking to the soldier as he navigated to some place in some state, I don’t even remember which. He gets stressed in large cities having spent his life in the woods and he’s got GPS but it’s fallible. It is downright flawed in places and you never know which places so if I am around I track him on a google map when he gets into odd places so he doesn’t end up in Bum Fuk. Sometimes we’re both calm but other times we get that frenetic energy going.

I was extremely moved by the movie, never mind manipulations or whatever flaws and cheesiness that might have been part and parcel of the film. Fact is it depicted a momentous event and I found it easy to be swept into the size and scope and emotion of the movie never mind all that water. I especially liked the length of the movie because I got to be gone for hours but here’s my question:

“The idea you inherit energy is no different than when someone dies and someone else gets their money which is something everyone understands. Think about it. Some rich guy dies and his money goes out all over. It goes where it goes and ultimately people are empowered by it. They get richer.”

“Yeah.”

“Okay, well money is just one form of energy, isn’t it? And it’s not even particularly valuable if you ask me. I mean, it’s money but there are other things / forms of energy I think are preferable.”
