Astrology Consulting: Taking Care To Do Good Work
Astrology in real life
For The Working Astrologer Blog
I wonder if other astrologers have rituals when they do consultations, I know I do. It’s a bit of a terror to do this kind of work, at least it is for me. I know I can read a chart but that is hardly enough. You’ve got to be able to communicate!
I am very aware that the client is relying on me to make something happen in the time allotted. They want some value for their money and I almost always do but not without some hi jinks! I do have some things I do to insure the client gets the best I can offer.

Free Astrology Consult - Update And Introduction
Contest winner!!
“I have really strong contradictory impulses towards acting erratically and change vs. reliability and lack of change in my relationship life (& my chart). I’ve hurt a few important people in my life through this and am starting to despair that I can ever resolve it….without doing something radical like an open relationship, which I really couldn’t handle either.”
I chose this problem because while I didn’t know what the chart might look like, I think it’s common people are ambivalent when it comes to relationship. This sounded like it may be an extreme case and I thought if it was, it would serve the collective because when you see someone further out on the continuum then you are it becomes easier to recognize your similar issue. This just seems to be a quirk of human nature.

Win an Astrology Consultation By Email!
Outtakes and various other sundries…
I asked for feedback during the last class and overwhelmingly people said they would like to see the kind of work I did in the class on the regular blog. That is, a more in depth treatment of a natal chart with an eye on resolving problems. People also routinely say they miss the astrology-based advice so we’ve decided to address this by having contests and giving away email consultations.
The only catch is that you have to give me permission to edit our emails for publication on this blog. Your chart will be posted but don’t worry, I’ll “anonymize” our conversation to remove obvious references to your private life. Of course, if you want the spotlight, just let me know and we can publish the email consultation as-is!

FAQ About Astrology Consultations
FAQ
Can you call me and does it cost more?
Yes and no. I am happy to make the call as long as you’re in the US - I have unlimited long distance and no preference one way or the other.
If I consult by email and it takes longer than 30 minutes what happens?
I always stay within the time allotted. About 75% of the people get what they want or need in 30 minutes, the others want to buy more time and however they want to do it is fine with me. Some buy another 30 min or an hour. Others just want me to do a little more work so in those cases I just prorate the fee. In other words, if it takes me 7 minutes, I bill you for 7 minutes. I don’t mind this, I kind of like it because I hate wasting time, mine or yours.

Lexie wrote on Astrology / Psychology Hot Shot:
“I just realized that you remind me of a character in a book series named Anita Blake.”
Lexie, thanks! I had to look her up: Anita Blake
From wiki:
“A strong protagonist in the series, Blake is very direct, flippant, and highly competent in the professions she is involved in. She is trained in judo, kenpo and knows how to use several weapons, but is most efficient with guns (as the series begins, the Browning Hi-Power is her carry gun of choice, though later in the series she switches to the Browning BDM). She is also a devout Christian which often creates moral dilemmas for the character.”

Astrology vs Psychology: Elsa P… A Born Hot Shot
Astrology in real life
Lis write on, Elsa P, You Don’t Need Astrology
“I would much rather have someone look at my chart, like you do with other people’s, and get straight to the heart of the problem, instead of wasting hours and hours pussyfooting around it. (That’s been my experience with “traditional” counseling.)”
Lis - thanks and while I had a full course of traditional therapy and consider it money very well spent, it is one of the reasons I know I would hate that job. I much more suited to the hot shot, meaning one of the fire fighters who comes in when there is a need, they get right down to business and then off to the next crisis. Not only would I not like being a therapist, I would probably suck at it.

Astrology And Pandering: “My Opinion Is Not For Sale”

pan·der (pndr)
intr.v. pan·dered, pan·der·ing, pan·ders
1. To act as a go-between or liaison in sexual intrigues; function as a procurer.
2. To cater to the lower tastes and desires of others or exploit their weaknesses:
I have worked with thousands of clients over the years. Last week I was forced to end a consultation right in the middle of it, offering the client a refund which is something I have never done before in my career. I have refunded a person’s money because they weren’t satisfied with my work once or twice but never, even encountered anything like this before. I just couldn’t get through the consult because the client and I were at cross purposes.

Saturn Oppose Uranus: It’s Becoming Harder And Harder To Be An Astrologer
Astrology in real life
Uranus rules astrology and with Saturn opposing, career comes to mind. I really think astrology is going mainstream and seems to me to be ready to come up like some kind of rogue wave. However I am an astrologer and in reality I am finding it harder and harder.
The difficulty is not in finding clients. I have more clients then I have ever had in my career, it is in what I have to tell them that is so daunting and difficult.

A Desire To Be Effective… And A Peek Behind The Scenes Of Astrology Consulting

“though maybe you’ll have to get into your work clothes more often…”
It’s true and don’t think I didn’t think about that because I did! This would definitely be demanding. I would be making someone a private movie however I have to do something because I really can’t write all day and the monologue has real application.

Idea!!
Astrology in real life
As I am sure you’ve noticed, things are changing around here. I am placing more of an emphasis on consultations for one thing and I think I just had a brainstorm.
A lot of people prefer to consult by email rather than on the phone. Sometimes this is because they are out of the country and there is some impediment to calling but for others the idea of making a phone call is overwhelming for some reason so this is a good option.
