1 Minute Astrology - Relationships / Synastry: The Main Techniques Work But Not Really!

1 minute astrology

From 2008, an introduction to a series on synastry: Techniques astrologers use to judge compatibility between charts - Do they work? Theory vs fact.
This is one of 3 videos on this topic. I think I ought to pick it back up so this is my way of trying to prompt myself.

Synasty vs Composite Charts: Updated And Enhanced Conclusions In 2009

Addendum to Astrology of Relationships: Synastry vs Composite Charts, Mars Square Mars, Grand Crosses and Other Frights

Need to catch up? Part one

I promised an update to the Grand Crosses and Other Frights series and this is it.  I was in a relationship with a grand cross in the composite, followed by a relationship with a grand trine in the composite.  The 2nd relationship was far more pleasant and this was all I could note at the time.

This brings me to a point I have been meaning to make - Nothing substitutes for experience. You can read until you are blue and it is just not the same as living. Point is I was writing from my experience at the time and now I have more experience.

3 Years Ago On The Elsa Blog: Astrology of Relationships: Synastry vs Composite Charts, Mars Square Mars, Grand Crosses and Other Frights - Part Four

Need to catch up? Part one

aquarius metal signIt was a conversation with another astrologer that prompted these blogs. He wanted to know which method I preferred and I like both.  But there are some things that can’t be accounted for via traditional synastry or looking at a composite. Like for example, what’s up with me and all these Aquarians?

This is my sister on this subject, about 13 years ago. We’re on the phone chatting up the charts of my soon-to-be inlaws:

3 Years Ago On The Elsa Blog: Astrology of Relationships: Synastry vs Composite Charts, Mars Square Mars, Grand Crosses and Other Frights - Part Three

Just Blathering…

elsaamfcompositechartI’ll tell you how this second composite chart works out in the world in real life. For one thing when I first met, The AMF he was seeing a therapist. He attached to me  very quickly which upset her. I think she had a little crush on him because she had no problem with him meeting women he didn’t like. ;-)

3 Years Ago On The Elsa Blog: Astrology of Relationships: Synastry vs Composite Charts, Mars Square Mars, Grand Crosses and Other Frights: Part Two

Need to catch up? Part one

grand crossI had a terrific time getting out of the relationship with the composite grand cross which was unusual because I am as slippery as they come. I am like Houdini with a jet ski waiting when it comes to leaving a relationship but I could not find a way out of that one to save my life, up until the time I did. I don’t know what to say besides I’ve been happy since and I think I’ve learned my lesson.

Yes. And it’s not even Halloween!

mars symbolI was taking to another astrologer yesterday, he asked me which method I favored when it came to looking at relationships. Synastry or Composite charts. Then Britney asked what the difference was, so here goes:

I use both methods because they show different things. When you compare one chart with another, you see how two individuals interact. When you actually put the charts together, you see how the relationship acts. And I can illustrate this with a story.

Astrology, The US Economy, Composite Charts And A Person’s Destiny

Astrology in real life

destinylabel01shaded.jpgL. asked on How Popular Is Real Love Anyway?

“I’ve wondered in general about the individual challenging aspects that one is supposed to be able to work with somehow, and whether they can equally be ‘worked with’ positively in a composite.”

I think everything can be worked with positively but many people don’t like to work! Consequently like make little of their gifts never mind their hardship and the consequences for this increase exponentially. This is as true for the individual as it is for the collective and I’d offer the current state of the US economy as proof. But aside from that, this comment made me take a look at the composite chart of the soldier and I which believe it or not, I’ve not bothered to do since getting proper birth data for him.

Fated Trip… Freda Payne, Composite Charts, Etc.

Astrology in real life

minneapolis.jpgMost of you know I got a corrected birth time for the soldier some weeks ago. The real time is markedly different then what I had been using and it’s so disorienting I haven’t really spent anytime with the new chart but today I looked at the new composite chart, just wondering how is jibed with the take-off chart of our trip back to the desert.

Our composite Moon is exactly conjunct the ascendant of the flight chart. The Suns of both charts are exactly conjunct as well if you can believe that. The whole thing has got to be fated, it’s almost spooky.

It’s also the kind of thing that happens to us all the time. I will never forget flying to Minneapolis with less than 24 hours notice, renting a car, driving to a truck stop to meet the soldier.

Not only did he pull up within 4 minutes of my arrival. Freda Payne’s, “Band Of Gold”, was blaring from the fuel island of the truck stop (the song he associated with us for 30 years) and then we wound up at that Catholic wedding - Just literally delivered there, a hour later.

I wonder what waits for us in the desert.

Here’s Freda. The soldier thinks this is the best song in the world, sung by the best singer in the world!

Astrology And Relationships - How Do You Compare Charts? Synastry? Composite Charts? Both? Other?

Commenting on the comments

lovers paintingmax writes on Mismatched Love Natures video:

“My question is: if you have Venus/Neptune and AMF had Venus/Saturn, what happens with the Soldier since he has Venus/Saturn?”

max - I dunno. The situations are very different. The AMF had Venus conjunct Saturn in Scorpio in the 8th. That’s pretty severe. Also his Venus Saturn was in hard aspect (wide orb) to my Venus in Leo.

In contrast the soldier has an inconjunct from Venus to Saturn which is much milder. He also has a sextile between Uranus and Venus and an opposition to Jupiter. His Venus is also tightly sextile mine. So how’s this for an interpretation:

The Saturn plays in that we were separated for an entire Saturn cycle - 28 years. Is that enough delay for ya? Also the commitment we have is profound.

His Venus/ Uranus aspect suits my Uranus in the 7th house(Venus) and Jupiter? Well I was going to make a video about that but suffice to say we both “believe” in love.

Couple this with the easy aspect between the two Venuses and I think we’re looking pretty good.

This is going to be my next topic by the way. Synastry!

If you are an astrologer who uses synastry, what approach do you take? Classic chart comparison? Composites? What?

The Soldier and P And The Bug Zapper Composite Chart

Astrology in real life

bug zapper“People just don’t realize,” I said. “The people in your life I mean. They don’t seem to comprehend what is going on with us. I don’t think they know this can happen to you with somebody else.”

“No they don’t”

“Right. There are only two exceptions that I know of.” I outlined the exceptions as I saw them. “Everyone else is just looking elsewhere I guess you could say and if they get in it… well all kinds of things they are not expecting, happen.”

“Yeah, they do. You an I together are like a bug zapper. You know those things that are lit up and zap bugs? People are attracted but if you get too close you’ll get zapped. zzzt!”

“It’s true. I have no idea why this is but it is exactly what happens. Fried to a crisp.”

Composite chart has Aquarius rising, Mars in Leo on the descendant - gee, wonder why we fight so much… and so suddenly. Composite Mars is loosely conjunct Uranus in the 6th, Pluto in the 7th. The situation is beyond merely explosive.

Are you aware of the third entity that is independent from the two halves that is created in your relationship (and shown by the composite.)
