Scott Leather Writes: On The “IT” in “ART”

Outakes and Various Other Sundries…

Scott writes:

steinwayA common dilemma facing all artists is how much effort do you put in regarding the details at the expense of the underlying communication of the work? Or, in other words, one can get so caught up in perfecting every detail that one loses sight of the original intention and energy of the
work.

In my field of classical piano playing, this is a very common malady. There are literally scores of competent musicians out there that can do a respectable job of performing what are frightfully long and complicated works. Performing these things requires extended study for most of us, difficult memorization and intense practice and concentration to perfect.

What to Expect Astrologically Under Pluto in Capricorn by Isabelle Ghanesh For Llewellyn

Outtakes and Various other sundries…

poor_pluto_1600x900.jpgA sign by sign treatment of the effects of Pluto’s transit through Capricorn by sign:

Isabelle Ghaneh writes

“You always know when Pluto decides to stop by for a visit, since there is no mistaking his calling card; this applies whether he is considered by astronomers to be an official planet or a mere dwarf….”

And here is a sample:

“Pluto in the First House: The way you feel about yourself, and the image you project to the outer world will change radically. Your need to be in control of yourself and of your environment will also change, and you may find that your lifestyle alters considerably under this transit.”

Calling All Astrology Bloggers: Update On The New Astro News

Outtakes and Various other sundries

gerbil.jpgGreat news (especially for me) on the new Astro News. We found a way to get all the feeds to work which is a great relief because I have been trying to keep up adding them manually like some kind of crazed gerbil. I am loading the feeds now and should have everyone in there by tomorrow so if you are posting and now having your headline show up near the end of the week, please email and let me know.

Now many of you know the Top 10 Astrology News came back up unexpectedly, the same way it went down. I am greatly relieved because it represents and ungodly amount of work over the last 2 years. So it is going to be there (as far as I know) but will be morphing into a collection of astrology blog headlines where the Astro News will be what Top 10 was… a very robust and often updated source of astrology-themed content from all over the web courtesy this gerbil, Elsa P.

And if residents or businesses don’t separate the coffee grounds from the newspapers, they would face fines of up to $1,000 and eventually could have their garbage service stopped…”

Saturn In Virgo: England Tricks People Into Consuming Less Salt

Outtakes and various other sundries..

Salt shakers. Image from Daily MailSalt shakers. Image from Daily MailA reader sent me this with the comment, “It just doesn’t stop.”  She’s right about that. Government (Saturn) controlling the diet (Virgo) that is…

Salt licked?

A number of councils in England have given fish & chip shops replacement salt shakers with fewer holes - from the Daily Mail:

“Research has suggested that slashing the holes from the traditional 17 to five could cut the amount people sprinkle on their food by more than half.

And so at least six councils have ordered five-hole shakers – at taxpayers’ expense – and begun giving them away to chip shops and takeaways in their areas. Leading the way has been Gateshead Council, which spent 15 days researching the subject of salty takeaways before declaring the new five-hole cellars the solution…”

Bye Bye Privacy: “If You Run a Red Light, Will Everyone Know?”

Outtakes and various other sundries

handcuffs.jpgFirst it was pedophiles with their records made public and now it’s everyone. This is how they take rights by the way… bit by bit.

Brad Stone writes:

“Bryce Lane, president of PeopleFinders, which offers a free service that uses government records to let users check on others’ backgrounds. He says it can contain errors because governments vary in their updating of digital archives.

WANT to vet a baby sitter? Need to peek into the background of a prospective employee? Curious about the past of a potential date? Last month, PeopleFinders, a 20-year-old company based in Sacramento, introduced CriminalSearches.com, a free service to satisfy those common impulses. The site, which is supported by ads, lets people search by name through criminal archives of all 50 states and 3,500 counties in the United States. In the process, it just might upset a sensitive social balance once preserved by the difficulty of obtaining public documents like criminal records…”

Update On The Astro News

Outtakes and various other sundries

The Astro News is looking good, I am extremely happy with it. We are still having trouble with any and all of the blogspot feeds and working to resolve this. I am sorry it’s taking so long but be assured we will get this resolved because there are a lot of you.

While blogspot is the major problem, we are also having trouble with a select few other feeds. Namely there are some feedburner feeds that are not coming in while others are having no problem at all and HQ and his brother are working to figure this out.

On other fronts, Jeffrey Kishner let us know that the widget you see on the page is customizable to that’s a real boon. I am non-techy and was able to alter it (as shown) and add it so a couple other pages I keep within just a couple minutes. You can even change the color!

Again, the stuff on the right (like the comments to this blog) will be coming off that page at the first opportunity and various other design changes are planned that will make the site more aesthetically pleasing but at the moment I am thrilled with the result and the support for the page.. all of it has exceeded my expectation.

As always, your comments and ideas are welcome and appreciated. ElsaElsa - Astro News
