Saturn In Libra: Relating With Boundaries
Good Fences Make Good Neighbors
With Mercury and Saturn opposing each other across the Aries Libra axis I feel compelled to talk about boundaries in relationship.
Most people inherently know that having good personal boundaries is a key element to promoting healthy relationships. Instituting them is a more difficult matter. The question of why is an easier one to answer: responsibility.

Saturn in Libra: Judging Your Relationships, and Cannibalism ::wink:: By satori
“What at first seemed sexy and progressive now struck him as vulgar and insecure.”
–John Irving, Last Night in Twisted River
Much has been said
about Saturn’s move into Libra and solidifying one’s relationships. I’m starting to look at the people in my life and decide whether or not they’re worth it. Is that harsh? It is, but it feels necessary. I sure don’t have unlimited resources, financial or emotional, and I’m feeling the crunch. I’m circling the wagons, figuring out who to keep in my lifeboat.

Patty Stanger: Millionaire Matchmaker… and Astrologer!
“Sometimes the best guys are worth waiting for.”
–Patti Stanger
I was just watching Bravo TV’s post Millionaire Matchmaker show of Live featuring Patti Stanger. She was answering questions and fielded one on how young was too young for certain ages to date. She gave some specific age ranges and mentioned there being a concrete reason behind her answers. Patti announced that she was not only a matchmaker but an astrologer, referencing the Saturn return as a lower age cut-off for maturity. Additionally, in her latest Millionaire Matchmaker show she facilitated a chart reading for a client in order to assess his wants and needs.
What a shock! I had to jump right up and hunt down her birth data. According to Wikipedia, Patti was born May 31, 1961, with no birth place listed, but presumably New Jersey, where she grew up.

The Astrology of Taste: Venus at the Movies by satori
“Fascinating.”
–Spock, Star Trek
A Leo with Gemini Moon Rising once tricked me into watching a chick flick. I suspect he had more interest in putting one over on me than in watching The Notebook. Needless to say that involvement didn’t last long. Oh, I was moved; I cried. And boy, was I pissed about it. The fact that I appreciated it is not the point.

Astrology And Valentines Day! Oh Boy, CANDY! by satori
“Only one man in a thousand is a leader of men; the other 999 follow women.”
–Groucho Marx
Valentine’s Day is the second solar return of the meeting chart with my sweetie so I’ve been scrutinizing it, of course. I’m trying to figure out whether I’m going to get lots of candy or have a piano fall on me from a great height. Those are usually the two options I experience.
The chart of the day looks pretty decent, really, could be worse (RUN, RUN, IT’S A BEAR!). In fact I find it’s fairly instructive for a chart, seeing as I’m the one looking at it and it doesn’t have illustrations and safety handrails. One thing that stands out to me: two yods. Okay, two things stand out to me.

Archetypal Astro-twins by satori
“So just sit right down, relax, open your ears real wide and say, ‘Give it to me straight, Doctor, I can take it!’ oh I almost forgot, fellow babies… booooooooooooger!”
–Dr. Johnny Fever, WKRP in Cincinnati
In adolescence young people look around and begin to identify with people outside themselves and their families, often incorporating others’ traits. Celebrities and characters in all types of media are ripe for these associations and are seen as archetypes, the personification of universal ideals. Identifying with archetypes is a way of making the universal personal, of saying, “this is me,” both to yourself and the world.
When I was a kid, Dr. Johnny Fever was a character on WKRP in Cincinnati, a popular tv show. I was so very drawn to him; I thought he was sooo coool that I wanted to dress like him, be smooooth like him. As an adult I look at the character and laugh at the fact I wanted to be like a middle-aged, scruffy slacker. But I did, so WHY?

Full Moon in Leo… by satori
“When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that’s amore.”
(as sung by) Dean Martin
I’m someone who can totally lose their shit in public, in highly entertaining ways, given the right circumstances (Leo rising). Considering the dramatic possibilities of the early morning full moon in Leo, I decided to stay home last night. I rented movies, bought a butt-load of candy and hunkered down with my kids and my sweetie. At the end of the night I was really worried about sending him out in the night under the supermoon in his 8th house, but he made it home fine. He didn’t get any; I suppose that was his special effect.
The moon just now made it out of my 12th house and if anything interesting and full-moonish happened to me I sure don’t know about it yet.

Transits and Aspects: Lemons and Lemon Products by satori
“We are standing on a whale fishing for minnows.”
–Joseph Campbell
My teenaged son’s best friend was hit by a car yesterday. Again. It was the fourth time. He’s relatively fine and the driver had insurance which will cover his hospital bill. Four times really is amazing, though. This last time happened near the entrance to the grocery store, the same grocery store where he was recently mugged. My son told me he was right there when some guy punched his friend and took the friend’s gallon of milk.

Jupiter In Pisces: The Philosophy of Compassion by satori
“I think it’s impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves.”
–Orson Scott Card, Ender’s Game
Loving someone as they love themselves does not mean liking them. Even if I can only manage to do it for a moment, it is so liberating to really see someone for who they are and just take it in.
I’m someone who can get extremely worked up about the minutiae of life. It doesn’t last long but I can be severely irked for short periods over relatively nothing. But this week, not so much. Â While it’s not been a conscious thing, I’ve been giving people free passes on their foibles and I’ve noticed I’ve gotten them from others as well.
Could this be Jupiter in Pisces?
