Astrology, Numerology, and Name Changes That Affect The Psyche and Personality

Astrology in real life

Friday I stood in line at motor vehicle to change my name. I also spent an hour at the social security office, I went to the gym, to the bank, to the admin building of Vid’s school all for the same reason before I came home and started calling credit card companies, insurance, etc.

I was intently focused on this and it occurred to me I was getting the Saturn in Virgo details stuff done so when Saturn went into Libra I’d be all squared away. I thought it was very “teacher’s pet” of me but hey. I am what I am.

Later that night I was talking to the soldier about how I thought a new name would change things for me… I went as far as to call Annalisa on this because she does numerology, something I know nothing about it. She gave my new name a thumbs up as did, Ben, when I spoke to him last week. Ben totally judges a person on their name and the city they are from and if you come up, “stinky sewer” in his rating system, well then this is just the way it is. Personally, I come up “desert creature” and it is hard to argue that.

Anyway, I was talking to the soldier about my new name and I have been writing one of his oldest friends over these last days. I know the guy too…. from back when I was 17 and 18 but as is always the case, I know a different soldier than everyone else does and I think part of the reason is his name.

I call the soldier by his given name and I am the only one (besides his mother when she was mad) who ever does or ever has. Everyone else calls him by the nickname he has had since birth, or they call him Rhino. In whatever case, I call him his real name which is elaborate as does my son. We don’t do it to be different, we do it because this is the name he gave us to call him and I am telling you it makes a difference and the difference is huge.

It is clear to me now that we literally know a different man in that the soldier resonates with the name we call him. He must like it. He has always had me call him by his given name but I guess what I am saying is the name you go by is tremendously important.

I am going to stay Elsa P on this blog the same way I know to title posts “pictures from Rhino” when I sent them to his friends even though the attachments are titled by his real name. You just don’t mess with people’s reality or expect them to know a different person than they’ve known for 30 or in some cases 40 years anymore then they can expect me to call him something that is foriegn to me.

People are complicated, aren’t they?

Stinky sewer — funny. Makes me wonder about my name. I have no nickname, no middle name. Oops, just realizing I am wrong. There is one person in my life who has a “pet” name for me. Only once or twice has he used my real name, once when he was angry and giving me direction.

It’s a tremendous intimacy to use someone’s name.

I go by a different first name than I grew up with. I switched to Lupa around the time that I got pregnant with my youngest son so just over 8 years ago. This spring I married and took my husband’s name this is my 3rd marriage and 3rd last name change. I have to agree that changing your name changes everything. I’ve never had the slightest inclination to go back to my maiden name because I am not her anymore.

When I went from gradeschool to highschool I chose to change my name to Liz from Elizabeth. Elizabeth was shy and used by condescending adults. Liz was who I wanted to be and I did indeed change.. more friendly. And i do react different when addressed as Liz or Elizabeth. One ass I knew a few months ago decided to use Elizabeth even though I’d never introduced myself as Elizabeth or used it professionally. He used it when introducing me to a group. I very mercury in scorpio and pluto transiting my 3rd said “It’s Liz.”

Haven’t changed my last name yet. Was daydreaming about a possible man and realized that i like his last name with my first name. :P

I love hearing these kinds of stories:)

I’m one of those people who never get the chance to use their given first name, like it or lump it. Nicknames, petnames, abbreviated names since birth and even at work I’m called by a number on the radio (courier). People instantly want to make something of it, and I encourage them to, because I’m used to it.
I’d have a hard time giving up my surname I’ve had since birth, impossible really. I love my last name but it’s pretty ridiculous. 99% of the people who hear it for the first time make the same joke about it…then ask me if I’ve heard the joke before..!

Five years ago I took my maiden name back after using my married name for 30 years after my divorce! It was empowering. I regained lost parts of myself. My only regret was not having done it sooner but the timing worked out well career-wise.

I’ve actually been known by my middlename all my life. My parents had decided that if they’d ever have a daughter they’d give her the name long before I was born. When I was born they couldn’t think about a name that would sound good after the name, so they used it as the middlename, but always called me with it. I could have my name legally changed - my cousin actually did -, but haven’t done so.

This kind of struck me because all my life I have a name that people cannot get right. Even after several years my boss calls me by another name (another girl at work who’s names rhymes with mine). I have never thought of this before but I wonder if it’s a Neptune on the Ascendant thing playing itself out. I love to give people nicknames and I like being called nicknames. Maybe another Neptune thing….hummm.
