Saturn’s Last Gasp In Virgo, The Opposition To Uranus And The Polarization Of Society

Astrology in real life

It occurred to me that people may begin to speak freely when Saturn leaves Virgo.  I was momentarily relieved before I realized I would not be one of them considering Saturn will transiting my 9th towards conjunction with Mercury.  I am going to have to continue to watch my mouth for sure however I do feel like making some remarks about this opposition.

I was reading the comments on some news site, I really don’t remember which one but someone wrote that  he has ceased traveling to what he considered to be the liberal states.  This hit me hard because I believe the guy.  People are so disgusted with the other side (in both directions) they simply do not want to fraternize with them at all.

This is a scary (Saturn) scenario for people who have Libra (like me), especially when they are astrologers who see Uranus headed into Aries and know damned well that war when you least expect it should be expected.

In whatever case, this got my attention in joined in lockstep with something else that I am seeing with this opposition.  All the sudden there seems to be no end to the people I encounter who are shocked (Uranus) by reality (Saturn). Things are happening to them that they did not think could happen to them and they are just plain stunned. What kills me is the variety of ways I am seeing this manifest because it is just so vast.

The  comment I read dovetails with this trend because when the business owner in X (blue or red) state goes out of business when the (red or blue) customer boycotts their entire area, I guess they will be shocked at this reality?

My point is the obvious, it is probably not smart to alienate half the people because if you do, you are going to dramatically reduce your chance of survival one way or the other.

Think about that next time you call someone a moron.

Elsa, I am scared that I will burst out unexpectedly in aggressive ways once Uranus hits Aries. I have Mars in Aries in early degrees! I pray someone protects me from myself.

Elsa! I think you’re so refreshingly candid and not inappropriate… I haven’t seen it. What am I missing?
On the other hand I’ve been waiting for things to get a little crazier but I haven’t felt it yet. My 15 yr old son was physically ‘attacked’ by someone in class today because they wanted what they thought was their pencil. So strange!
Anyway, here’s to hoping for the best… :) I’m ready for a glass of wine right now.

Hello Elsa,

Actually I have been noticing this for a while and it is scary. Some of the things that people are saying and doing from racism/sexism/homophobia…violence or all kinds. I wonder if people have lost their minds??

Libra with Libra in Mars.

I’m kinda scared of what’s happening to the world right now. No, I am not kidding!

People are gonna show their REAL self in the next decade or so. I’m afraid that it’s gonna get too real.

Dear Elsa,
Your husband might find an iPhone useful. It’s worth the investment. Maps, routes. GPS. FYI

This is a great post… What about independents like me who think both sides are full of it?

My mom and I were talking about this the other night. Obama was going to broadcast into school rooms across America speaking about the importance of education and there were some parents who took their kids out of school for the day, some of them were CRYING TEARS about how he was “forcing” his views on their children. There is a certain segment of the population that kept their kids from school because Obama would be speaking to the. My mom said that when she was a kid and the president spoke, you fucking listened. It didn’t matter if your parents or you agreed with his political leanings, he was the President of the United States and when he spoke, you listened. This is not so today, when everyone’s opinions are considered equal and have a “valid” platform (the Internet), “I” has become more important than US.

I think if these events and feelings come up now and so many are shocked, it’s because incongruity has been building up but no one wanted to see it. Fruits may fall suddenly but the tree takes a while to grow.

Elsa, with all the retrogrades I’ve had that Saturn on my Mercury for a year or so. The one thing I’ve noticed is that if anything, I’ve been less argumentative (3rd house Mars loves a good argument!) than usually, willingly staying out of the drama if I can. But that’s obviously changing now that the conjunct is fading (Saturn is good 6 degrees from my Mercury by now).

Generally speaking, people are on the edge here in Europe too. Things are changing, in a big way, and the change always scares people. What’s different here in Europe is we have 50 countries with different electorial systems - basicly, until 20 years ago with different political systems too - in an area that’s only slight bigger than the USA. In most, we have more than two major parties and a proportional systems of voting, so even people who are in minority in a certain area get represented.

So, we should be able to communicate with people who don’t share our views, or the things can get really ugly. With the last Saturn-Uranus opposition it seemed that ultimately that capablilty worked for us, the one before that lead to Civil Wars in many parts of the continent.

Hi Elsa, Seadaughter here in Far West UK. Following your site for awhile now, love your style and wisdom. Few if any of us are getting much understanding of how the opp will manifest but good to remember that the best outcome is balance between the opposing forces at play. We are individually and collectively responsible for this. Joining you on the see-saw,

i have sun and jupiter conjunct in aries at 5 degrees and 2 degrees in the 9 th house opposing moon conjunct pluto in libra at 1 and 7 degrees respectivelly. I am seeing a total revolution in my live happening before my eyes, as the possibility i have got my girlfriend pregnant, and i am experiencing the possibility of becoming a father like a bolt out of the blue, are children symbolic of uranus ? What can u say about this.

Welcome, cappygolucky. No, I don’t think Uranus rules children but to become a parent (Saturn) unexpectedly (Uranus) fits.

Welcome, seadaughter! :)

I’m a bit worried about my poor son. He’s had Pluto square his Moon (5 Aries) for a while now, and it’s manifested as power struggles with me. He has Moon in the 7th and has always been super close to me. I really wonder how this coming t square is going to affect him.

These days it feels like there is NO agreement or compromise available with certain people. Period. So if you feel that way, yeah, you might as well avoid the other side, because the fighting goes nowhere and there’s no possible way to agree with people who are all, “My way, or DIE.”

junfullmoon-yeah, I agree with you… losing a fighting battle/fighting a losing battle…anyway you slice it, compromise doesn’t seem to be on the menu, for some.

this is why I don’t talk to patients about politics — it’s hard not to, but it seems like it would alienate just enough people to damage my business. best just to stick to the business at hand. unfortunately, there is polarization in this business, too, but at least I can avoid politics.

I hadn’t even considered the whole uranus in aries thing as a bad thing because for me, it’ll be hitting my 5th house and then my venus. It bounced right at the border of my 5th before it started retreating and I found new love prospects plentiful and interesting…I’ve been excited to see that again. I wonder now how it’s possible that I could have a good time if there’s going to be/(already is?) a massive culture clash to the point of blood spilt. I’m more…surprised and annoyed at the lies people will believe. people will believe ANYTHING someone just tells them, it seems, and so many have no ability to go ‘hey…wait a minute…that doesn’t sound right’. And what should be disagreements, ready for some discourse and some discussion, instantly seem to elicit crazy defensive reactions like a spitting tiger. Every day, I see something in the news that makes me think, ‘What the hell? Why the hell did she/he say that? That’s ridiculous!’ Spontaneous hatred, seems like. And it’s pathetic because the reasoning isn’t even there at all…it’s a pure gutteral thing and you can see it in their eyes.

I went to a whole new place than where i began there…hmmm…

You know, I’m actually realizing a desire to steer away from discussing politics with people — especially people I like or people that I don’t know. I used to wade right into it and throw down (in a respectful way, of course) and now I do not feel it is as easy to have discourse without somebody feeling insulted.

So I’m pretty much disengaging (not easy for me). I’ll have my thoughts but … I just don’t want to deal with the consequences of expressing them. Not in idle chitchat.

@ Toni

“People are gonna show their REAL self in the next decade or so. I’m afraid that it’s gonna get too real.”

Why do you say this. I have heard others- not necessarily into astrology say this. There is a lot of doom and gloom soothsaying going on.

@ Lexie

“I wonder now how it’s possible that I could have a good time if there’s going to be/(already is?) a massive culture clash to the point of blood spilt.”

Don’t look a gifted horse in the mouth. If that is your destiny embrace it and enjoy it.

I am concerned about the culture clash though. I am disturbed that there are people who are going around championing that everything is post: racism is dead, sexism is dead - when there is blatant evidence to the contrary.
