1 Minute Astrology - Internet Governance: Defending Your Blog From Bullies and Trolls

1 minute astrology

This is from August 2008. A year later, the community here is better than ever and I totally committed to keeping it that way. I know I look like hell in this video, but you know. I was up to my neck at the time…
2008 is not 2007 or 2006 or 2005 or… the evolution of Elsa P and her blog.

haha your laughter is contagious!
I think you’ve nailed it. I mean, people come here, they think this is Elsa’s blog, she’s Elsa, she’s wise, she can take care of herself. And she can!

yeah, well talk about stoopid. I let people beat up on me for 5 + years waiting for some guy or gal on a white horse. I will have more to say on this subject…

No, not stoopid. I only recognized it when you said it so…you got there first, anyway!
Perhaps our Mars in Libra is naive like that; everything should be fair, people should be educated, diplomatic, polite or everyone should be like the Soldier, who will defend your honour (he seems like the man who would/does) and kill your enemies if he had to. :)

nobody can defend you needs like you can, because no one _knows_ them like you do. though i imagine there may be one or two out there who has a pretty good idea.

The issues brought up in this video are important to me. I laughed where Elsa laughed when she said (something like) “I don’t need anyone else to fight my fights; With the weapon I have???” I assume by that she means her obviously brilliant mind, her considerably comprehension of a huge, vast, and wholly complex field of study, and her phenomenal communication skills. Right on! I am even surprised to hear that there was ever a time you, Elsa, wouldn’t clear something up in the most efficient manner possible, and no I am not just sucking up to the Top-Blog (not my nature, as those will see who read below). I just mean it!

I was interest by your comment on the postion of Jupiter prior to it hitting Capricorn, because I managed to get myself instantaniously ‘nuked’ from an astrology blog an entire year ago, before Saturn switched signs! Fancy that! I cannot even imagine what it must be like there now, in talking about controls and things like that, but I will never know because I am not interested enough to go see from another computer.

But it is still, like, live and learn, because I did have a role in what happened. I am not at all mean, I do not attack or anything like that, that is not my nature at all. But I have an ‘issue’ whereby I don’t like being told what to do or write (the more detailed the telling me what to do [or not do] the more problematic); and, moreover, I am opposed to being patronized or chronically picked on as a contributor, and I am not very good at kow-towing and perhaps that is a major understatement.

Apparently at that time and according to da boss lady, it was Loonsounds ‘yo bad’ this and Loonsounds ‘yo bad’ that when it came to my following of her myriad zillions (it seemed like) trillions of nit picky rules.

It began to seem like everyday or every other day (and my mind probably exaggerates it after the fact) I was getting public messages from her zapping me “loonsounds, you are breaking [this or that rule], and, see, there were plenty of times where that was not even technically true as the rules were written. Moreover, I saw lots of opportunities for corrections of others for the same ‘violations’ if she wanted to try to be fair about it.

What happened (and this has been a problem all my life/I need to order a consultation from you, Elsa) is just she didn’t like me. Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean you are wrong is a statement that I can really relate to. She was just one of those people who don’t like me, never did, never will.

Something about my personality bugged her (I could even make a couple of guesses) and I feel she was trying to drive me away slowly since she did not have anything big like me attacking people or whatnot. In fact there were people who would refer to things I had written they related to or found interesting, i.e., it is not like a whole bunch of people thought me inappropriate. Blog-boss didn’t like me. Ask The Soldier what happens when you piss off a Col…that Col will need no real reason to get you, he/she will get you (that is from observations, not personal exp). But the point is, life is not ‘fair’ per se and that is fine, things work themselves out.

As to exactly how I got myself nuked(love your word there, Elsa, nuked or smoked from a blog…it can happen to the best of us) What happened is that one of the top-Blog Boss’ last public snipe ‘loonsounds stop doing this’ wrist slap, slap, just hit me as one criticism too many, so I e-mailed her and informed her that I “disagreed: with her assessment that I had been, in fact, been breaking the rules [in such and such instance].

Hah! Hah! Hah! It’s not NICE to disagree with Mother-Nuker! (joke from an ancient commercial!) My other blog friends there were biting their nails and feeling much trepidation for me, and were saying noooooo (who listens?) don’t do it! You will get banned! But I was like “bah!” Could be I just (subconsciously) wanted to get nuked.

Anyway, after that I went around ranting for a while (to some of the people from that blog I still communicated with) that I was going to launch a NO RULES blog which just had…completely and utterly…NO RULES! (other than the obvious, don’t steal the material or whatever). But I am talking about these picky-une rules, and I have mentioned how my pisces energy cannot stand the virgo energy which pick pick picks. (but not even a simmering sign of a blog, what I am wanting to do is start a site for my quantitative astro-research findings).

But RE the rules thing, it was like fate for me to stumble across this blog and feel so welcome here so quickly…I love it because it is just about as close as can reasonably come to my notion of a ‘no rules’ blog! It is like, an astro-blog for the astro-intelligent, astro-common sense people of the world. It’s like, read it a little, see if it fits you, get a vibe for if you fit in, be intuitive about unstated ‘preferences’ (nicer word than rules, my way of looking at it.) Then you will either a) fit in and be thrilled; b) find that it doesn’t feel right and split; or c) get ’smoked’ by Elsa Elsa, but only if you are mean, rude and stupid ;-)!

PS. Elsa, thank you for having the amazing courage to post live on Friday night. wow. How you could keep that smile is most amazing, but your eyes cannot hide the reality of your getting pounded to your vry core with this blunt trauma.

Loonsounds - there must be something between our charts (Mercury) because from the moment you got here, I have felt compelled to respond to your comments. You are clearly someone whose energy interacts with mine in way the encourages or provokes me so I am very grateful for that.

What I like most about this blog is that people often speak their minds and I think it’s beneficial for all.

I like it. :)

I don’t allow infighting on my own blog, even when I know it’s just friends of mine charging in to defend me from someone who’s doing some picking. I give the discussion several days to peter out, and after that, if it’s just getting worse and worse, I tell each person “take it to email and get it off my blog” and then I start deleting comments. There are more than plenty of places where people can fight tooth and nail online if they want to. But I like discussion, not fights. Nuking = good from time to time.

I’ve also noticed two kinds of pick-ers: 1) the kind who see you as easy meat, and 2) the kind who see you as a worthy opponent. 1 are easy to spot, because they really seem to enjoy what they do. 2 are far more common, though. If you get picked on a lot by people who seem very unhappy about it, chances are you really do present a powerful image.

Which would also explain why people get the impression you can defend yourself…

this was interesting to me since i manage an online community. a big thing for me is keeping the atmosphere friendly and supportive because that’s a major focus of its existing. so trying to find the balance between controls to protect the integrity of the community and freedom for people to be who they are is an ongoing thing for me.

i know over the years, e., that it seemed like it used to bother you a lot more, random crap from emails you got or whatever. it seems like it is so much not an issue now. but i’ve always seen you as someone who could take care of herself.

My normal voice on a list is temperate and supportive.

I tend to save my Pluto/Mars for the occasional arse-hole who pushes the boundaries of a list constantly, and one day oversteps his or her mark.

I drill them, dig a large hole, drop them in it and cover it over.

I get slapped for it by moderators, which I usually deserve, I sometimes apologize to the group, … and we resume our temperate, regular programming in which the vanquished may partake if they choose to remain civilized about it. (I think I do what the moderators wish they could do)

its effective.

Wtg Elsa! And here I am thinking I had something better to say, a number of people just summed it up. But yes Elsa when I think of strong people you are one of the people that pops up in my head. You’ve been through a lot and no I don’t know everything but I know a couple of things you are not the type of person to just go down.Whether one were to think that you were famous or infamous you are still you.

I think you look fab, very natural beauty. The thing that drew me to your blog was your no-nonsense common-sense analysis of a situation. This is your strength!

Satori called it, Elsa. I’ve witnessed a lot of the pick on Elsa bit here and on the old blog, and when you didn’t react publicly I figured it was because you had better things to do and were blowing them off. I considered charging in more than once because that’s what I do… But then I would stop and think, “Elsa? Need help with a bully?? HAHAHAHA!!”
