Twitter, Facebook, And The Elsa Blog: Time Is Scarce, Whiplash Is Out There, Saturn Is Going Into Libra And There Will Be Discourse!

Astrology in real life

With Mercury conjunct Saturn in Virgo, time seems very limited.  While I like them both, it’s occurring to me I don’t have time for twitter and/or facebook.

It’s very difficult to maintain a blog these days due Saturn’s influence on Mercury-ruled writing. It is further complicated by the Uranus opposition because whatever you do manage to write is going to protested by roughly half the people out there and here is the surprising thing:

Half the people slap you around for writing what you think and the other half of the people slap you for not writing what you think.  After awhile a person wants to rebel (Uranus) and slap back (Saturn) which is what happened on the board last night.

I am going to keep this blog which means I have to navigate through these challenges. I compare it to facebook or twitter where it is much easier to talk to a bunch of people and say nothing and the difference is stark.

I like those utilities but going between saying something (here) and saying nothing (there) actually increases stress and dilutes my focus when focus is desperately needed to keep this site together.

On that note, I want to repeat what I wrote last night to define (Saturn) this space (Uranus).

“… Anyone who can’t tolerate a person who disagrees with them and wants to isolate themselves with like minds, this is not the place to be.  Remember I grew up with Aquarians and a grandfather who did nothing but host discussions with religious people from different faiths. This blog is always going to represent these type values… always.”

I would add that if you do isolate yourself with like minds, that is called a cult and eventually you wind up with no mind at all.

Bottom line, this is and will remain a diverse community. This means if you are heterosexual and can’t stand homosexuals, this is not the place to be. If you are homosexual and want to isolate with other homosexuals, again, this is not the place to be. If you are a democrat or a republican or a whatever and you can’t tolerate people holding views that don’t match your own, this is not the place to be and so on and so forth.

Fact is Saturn is going into Libra and there WILL be DISCOURSE (interchange of ideas) on this blog.  Er… period!

I had an afterthought and want to offer it just to show my depth of my commitment to this and the fact I walk my talk.

15 years ago I moved to Aurora Colorado for this reason and this reason alone: At the time it was THESE most racially integrated city in this country. I specifically wanted to live in a diverse environment but further (I was pregnant at the time) I wanted my kids to grow up with access and exposure to as wide a range of cultures as possible. We are Jupiter moons, ya know, so I moved here.

I have written about my neighborhood over the years. It is a true social experiment here and what was readily apparent to me right away was the fact that you could not live in a city like this if you were going to have a problem with people of other races. It would just drive you insane because everywhere you go, including your own block you live on, you are going to run into different colored faces.

Consequently people who live here are very much like me in that you can be Korean, Mexican, African, Italian, German, (all these races live on my block)and get along with people different than you. You can appreciate their food, their appearance, their cultures and their beliefs.

So this is what I like and I like it VERY MUCH so this blog is going to be in line with these ideas simply because I would not want anything to do with a blog that was not in line with these ideas.

Not only do I love this concept, but I love that you’re conscious of your decisions as you make them. In fact - I have trouble understanding people who do not think this way.

So which thread caused an uproar on the boards last night?

Elsa, when I was young I was so naive I thought the world revolved around me! Lol. Moon in Leo and Mars in Aries.

But I have Pisces Rising so I accept others’ views easily. But it could also be all the squares to my Uranus.

I’ll tell you something else from the front line where I always seem to be. IF you live in this kind of environment for any amount of time and then go to an all-one-color city, it seems very damned strange and I expect it is the same in the blogging world.

If you hang around here where various opinions are expressed and then go to a blog where everyone sucks each other’s dicks all day you will be alarmed, very alarmed.

Because it really is no different than Jim Jones, is it?

Given the breadth of the readership here, it is no surprise to see this blog reflecting what’s happening in the larger world.

Hey, it never hurts to agree to disagree. Lots of very good people who treat others with dignity and respect don’t share the same ideas about how to get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’.

Elsa, I completely agree with you. I did notice, though, last night on the boards there were a lot of comments going a bit loony and I think this very poky full moon is affecting people maybe more than usual It’s certainly been bringing some unexpected things out of me. That said, perhaps this is a goods heads up for stances that will be required by Saturn in Libra. Hope this doesn’t sound pompous.

Your philosophy at work here on the blog gives me space to express my quirky and real experiences. I love how you use the word DIScourse to explain the back and forth activity of humans hashing through without slashing.

I was raised with diversity without knowing the definition as a kid … the Hawaiian Islands in the fifties was all kinds of culture and my brother and I are Hawaiian, Filipino and Chinese by blood.

During the while that I’ve come to your place, the astrology of a broad broad’s perspective gives me room to be re-born again and again. I love that you say something (and not nothing) here. My Scorpio Sun in the 10th thrives on that and the threads … more depth.

Well I had a thought - certainly most people are drawn here because of the astrology. And most people that come to sites like this don’t really discuss astrology much at all with those in their every-day life. Well, I don’t, so if I am speaking for myself, than so be it. So, perhaps, a false sense of “comradeship” develops, because we are all clearly lovers of astrology. One might think that someone who is into astrology probably thinks “like me” in several ways, because let’s face it, people will still laugh at you if you tell them you read your horoscope.

I personally do not enjoy political discussions, so mostly avoid that subject. I don’t need anyone to agree with me, and I don’t care who disagrees with me regarding certain matters, so it just becomes a non-issue for me. Anyway, just a perspective about all this. For me anyway I love and appreciate what I learn here, which is a great deal, about astrology, and am very happy that you have developed this blog, and put all the effort/work into it that you do.

“Because it really is no different than Jim Jones, is it?” Yep.

I appreciate the boards and the way it operates. The diverse perspective is never boring, dishonest, or too comfortable. I like it this way and I’m learning a little myself about respecting everyone’s individual thought space. I’m glad you defend it as you do.

Since I left Seattle I miss seeing japanese people in my grocery and I prefer ‘mixed bag’ over ‘melting pot’ when it comes to neighborhoods.

eldil, me too. You ought to smell the variety of what is cookin’ on the summertime grills around here.

The huge Korean grocery here has a huge Mexican section as well. It really doesn’t work to mix these ingredients in the same aisle.

They cater to everyone. Get your banana leaves, your soy sauce, your olive oil and your religious candles all in one stop. Seeing as this is what I love obviously my blog will follow suit.

On that note, I had another thought re my childhood (which shows how deeply this is rooted). When I was a kid we had a card game out in the middle of the desert. That game was raucous as hell. It was rude and keen and simultaneously cheerful and celebratory.

I coveted that game like you would not believe and I feel the same way about this blog.

I went to an extremely liberal college, and I’ll tell you, when you get like minded with like minded, sometimes you get extreme. I actually heard someone say they would love to “burn down a hummer dealership”. Yikes.
We need diversity. It’s a basic rule of ecology, if you look around in nature, you’ll see it.
I second alphaxys–I’m glad you defend the boards/blog for what it is, a diverse community of minds that can come together and speak their truth.

I should add that there are also small Asian grocery stores here that cater to the community, small Mexican groceries that do same for their communities but I choose to shop at the place that welcomes all which should be both bothpredictable and easy to understand by now.

This is what I read on FoxNews.com…..isn’t this known as a pretty liberal news station. That is what I have understood, but they have this on their website….so, what is the problem with putting up a poll of our “in office” leader? None.

RCP POLL

President Obama Job Approval
RCP Average: +10.8% Details

Disapprove 41.0%

Congressional Job Approval

And yet another manifestation…

Today I have a consultation with a girl who is obviously very sweet. I have other clients who are not sweet at all and I LOVE this.

If I had to work will all sweet clients or all not sweet clients, I would go insane!

I grew up around a lot of different types of people because of my parent’s business. Very lucky.

Also got a good immune system that way haha.

Nature loves diversity too. Some experts point to our declining honey bee population being connected to the agri-business habit of planting huge amounts of acreage to one crop.

We have lots & lots of different berries, flowering shrubs & plants and veggies on our small acreage. We also have a thriving bee population . . . :)

I was just thinking about a Korean going into Har-mart here (the big int’l grocery) and sayin’ “Hey! There are Mexicans here. And who is that Italian??” If things like that are going to bother you’re in the wrong store!

Guess who took me to Har-mart the first time? Denis from Camaroon! They have the coconut milk he likes to cook his rice in… ;-)

I miss diversity, but even in a seemingly homogeneuos small town, I seek out the diversity. Never been much for mutual admiration societies.

alicia, i had very much a similar experience when i first went to college. tried out some of the students groups and they were so “devoted” it seemed like dogmatism. the frightening dehumanizing anyone who doesn’t agree with you kind.

not the kind of discourse i get any edification from, that… i mean, what’s the point of talking politics with someone who completely agrees with you? you turn into a bunch of frothing mouths looking for a soapbox.
or well, i’ve seen it way too often.

I have a jupiter moon too! Yay! I wasn’t very tolerant as a kid but I have evolved. Now I don’t even think about race except as something funny to add to my standup material.
I have a good ear for accents and I love Vietnamese english- “Juck lai dat!”- just like that. Also my boss’ name: Christine, “Ricktine”.
(Angela Johnson does a hilarious impersonation on youtube- “Nail salon”)
Some ppl think this means I don’t like vietnamese- not true; all that I have met are lovely, compassionate people. A vietnam vet from Aust went back to Vietnam and the people were nice to him. He told them he was in the war and they treated him the same. He asked them why they didn’t hate him and they said ‘It was something that was done to us, it was done to you too. We can’t change what’s already happened, we can only make sure it doesn’t happen again.’
See? They are also fine with teasing, they don’t sweat the small stuff!

I agree. I was born and grew up in what I consider the most diverse city in the world: New York (born in NYC, raised in the Bronx). Believe me when I say that I have been to a number of cities, and none compares to this one when it comes to a variety of cultures. I love NY.

I live in quieter Hoboken now, which is in New Jersey but right across the river, fifteen minutes from Manhattan. The town is a square mile, small and cozy, yet still diverse and relatively affordable compared to NYC living… with a view! :)

Well this is a fact. I was in denver, went into a real estate agent’s office told them I wanted to live in Aurora.

“Aurora? No you don’t.”

“Why not?”

“That is where all the blacks are.”

“What?”

“That’s where all the black people live.”

“That’s okay. Can you find me a place there?”

“I wouldn’t move to Aurora.”

“Well I want to, are you going to look on that computer? It has to under $X…”

Maybe you should have a poll- see how diverse the community here really is. I’m Dutch/English- so that’s 1 European vote :-)

ambidee, come up with a list of nationalities and I will.

Most people are a mix so it would have to be who they most identify with and that could be hard (impossible) for half-breeds
