Saturn’s Transit Through Virgo - What Have You Learned?

Ask the collective

With Saturn heading into  Libra I was mulling the changes I have made and things I’ve learned during Saturn’s transit through Virgo.  In my case most of the stuff is centered around communication. For example I no longer write, “The thing is broken” to technical people and expect them to go from there.

I’ve also learned to avoid long dialogues with trolls who show up on this blog which represents something larger, my accepting that there are limits (Saturn) to what I can fix (Virgo).

Feeling that our culture is dumbed down, I have a defined ambition to expect more of myself on an intellectual level and this extends to my parenting. That is I have encouraged my son to set his bar as high as possible when it comes to learning as society surely is not going to do it for him.

Last, I drive less and walk more.

What effect has Saturn’s transit through Virgo had on your life?

Even though I have venus sextile my midheaven, I have decided that there is a limit to the amount of energy that I am going to spend trying to get along with someone.

I will be spending my energy wisely for the rest of my life.

Saturn in Virgo has been triggering my chart in prominent ways. With a tenth house Virgo Mars, there has been a definite focus on managing my energy. As a Gemini sun with planets in Virgo I have also had to learn the lesson that more talk/communication isn’t always going to fix the problem.

As Saturn moves toward the end of Virgo I’ve become determined to find answers to perplexing health issues I have suffered for more than ten years.

I am not savvy enough to say it is due to this particular transit, but I found my backbone and faced my fear — changing my life forever. Halle-freakin’-lujah!

What have I learned during the past 2 years?
First of all, it transited the second half of my 6th house and the first half of my 7th house.

6th house:
-Learn to love your weight, even though you are temporarily gonna be fat.
-People like to talk more than listen.
-Don’t eat too much fried food.
-You should have no shame with having nothing to do.
-Not everyone is an intellect.
-Serving others is
7th house
-I need other people, and other people need me. Though we don’t admit we need each other.
-Friendship takes time and effort.
-Not everyone is gonna like you.
-Some people are assholes.
-You have to learn to protect yourself emotionally, in any relationship, and even with strangers.

Express myself and my needs. Ask for, and accept help. (Oooh, hard one!)Look after my health, stop letting everyone drain me dry. Set my own boundaries. Oh and I became allergic to alcohol, and have saved a fortune thereby!!

I try to explain myself less. More out of a sense of hopelessness (negative, I know)…but I haven’t suffered too much from it. I don’t think.

Realizing that no one cares if I do well at school or not, as well as no one cares if I have a career I like was a big painful lesson to learn. But that has its + side, too. No one to disappoint but myself (T. Saturn in Virgo in 9th House, trine Taurus Sun in 5th)

Saturn in Virgo (transiting my 3rd) has been one long slog through the need for diligent documentation. One, for unfortunate reasons - I have an ex trying to fight me on custody and for that reason I need to detail every thing he does or pay the price (and I have paid the price, because it’s nearly impossible to do). Two, for positive reasons - I now work in a super corporate environment where tedium outweighs creativity, but I have learned to “CYA” and become more diligent where I used to be seat-of-my-pants and I think it’s a skill I needed to acquire.

I have my whole 1st house confined in Virgo, so the transit has affected my 12th, 1st and now 2nd house.

- I have the infamous 12th house Saturn AND had my Saturn Return in July 2006. So, through the early stages of this transit I was still trying to come in terms with how my life had been shaping. I remember questioning whether the direction my new life was taking was the right one. That time I really didn’t see it that way, I had made greater changes PRIOR to the Saturn Return, but funny enough, now it seems my life was really taking a whole new direction.

- Saturn passed my Ascendent in November 2007. Life was actually quite uneventful, but I can see this as a period I definitely started feeling confortable with my adult life, my job - something I’m good at, enjoy doing and can even see leading to somewhere careerwise, unlike the jobs I had in my 20’s - and relationship.

- Saturn has been in and out my 2nd house since November 2008. And I’ve really been thinking about my resources. Financially I’ve been earning steadily, but mostly, I’ve been thinking about how
to make the best of my inner resources. I do feel like I’m not using all my potential here, and try to figure out how I could stop underachieving.

Also, Saturn in Virgo has brought, overall, some health issues. They started late 2007, I got a dignosis early this year, and will finally hopefully have a permanent solution by mid-November.

Saturn in Virgo (in my 3rd, where I have no other planets) taught me about slowing down, and details. It has given me the desire to work on something slowly and build it up. That is difficult for me to do, it doesn’t come naturally. Saturn in Virgo has pointed that out to me more, the need to just take my time where I am.

I’ve been struggling for the whole ride over when to open my mouth and when to keep it shut. But I still don’t think I have it right.

I’ve learned that it really is best I pick up after myself on a daily basis. I’ve learned how to listen just a little bit more. I’ve learned that when I expect reward for doing something for someone, it may be wise to check my motivation. I’ve learned how to button up, get to work, and let go. I’ve learned there is no end to how complicated I am, which makes me relieved time is divided into 24 hour slots, and 24 hour slots into minutes, and so on.

I forgot to finish a sentence.

I’ve learned during Saturn in Virgo to not serve others who aren’t gonna appreciate it. Being a Pisces Ascendant I have a need to serve others, but this time if you’re not gonna thank me then goodbye!

Hi there, I’m generally a lurker, but this post really got me thinking. During Saturn in Virgo (mercury in virgo in the 8th house), I’ve learned about honest communication in sexual relationships. Wowza, during the transit, I see now that I actually got an cosmic beating to my old system that crushed me and forced me to rebuild — ethically this time. Its amazing how much pressure Saturn can exert to force change. It even rewired the way that I look at the use of sexuality in perceived life or death situations.

Lots of health stuff - my daughter was slammed with severe reactions to medication, and she is having a relapse at the moment - neurological problems, tics, compulsions, etc. On the positive side, as Saturn is leaving Virgo, I finally found a pediatric neurologist that I can work with, who believes as I do to use the least medication possible, only when necessary. I myself was diagnosed with epstein-barr about 4 mths ago. Though it has not seriously slowed me down, it has caused me to look more into vitamins, nutrition, etc. I also found out I have ovarian cysts, which I know are common, but up to this point in my life, I went to doctors and was told everything is fine, see you next year. Hope this is not too wordy - also I started a Masters Program in Library and Information Science, so health, information services, and detailed work seems about as Virgo as you can get. Oh and, my solar return chart, what else but Virgo rising and some other scary looking stuff (birthday was 8/1). I am embracing a whole lot of Virgo lately for sure.

Hmm. Im figurin He aint yet done finished his biznez with me. I aint sure what I’m sposed to be a learnin. Maybe how to talk gooder.

seriously, i have no freakin idea esp. with uranus in the mix. lots of stuff and nothing.

maybe like goddess, i’m still learning when to talk and when not to. i’m still learning when to think and when to listen to my heart. when to reach out to others and when to deal with it alone. how to be reflective without being self-critical. how not to compare myself to others and always fall short.

my beliefs are never secure. i dont have a philosophical, rational or ideological leg to stand on. i cant make sense out of anything because when i do, and make a claim, it sounds like a judgment and then that cracks open too.

This is all very unlike me, who was once confident in her abilities to opine all over the place and see many sides of the same issue. Now, I am just goop.

Not sure yet. Have to think about this one. But for now: Lessons in attachment/detatchment for sure (saturn on moon-pluto). Lessons in friendship. Lessons in keeping quiet. Saturn is no joke, not to be trifled with — and the Saturn/pluto combo……………

Toni…you mention many things that I feel the exact same way about. I have definitely seen that I have to feel good and not just making sure that others feel good. Sometimes being super responsible and doing what I think is a job well done doesn’t mean beans to anybody else. Goddess….I also am working on the talking less and trying to learn to stop being the moral police! That is such a tough one for this Capricorn, but I am trying and it is sinking in more and more. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect……

I’ve become aware of key ways that I leak energy. Like negativity or expecting people in my life to be different than they are and arguing this in my mind…I still do it, but catch myself quicker by the day. This has freed up a lot of 5th house creativity !
also, I quit drinking coffee. or i will have by next month : P

Definitely health-related stuff this year. Natal Saturn is in Pisces in my 6th and transiting Saturn has been going through my 12th house, over the 3 Virgo planets in that house. It’s conjunct my Virgo ascendant now. This year brought MAJOR events healthwise. One being that my cholesterol which was always high for the good type and low for the bad did a 180 degree switch on me - the bad kind skyrocketed and the good kind dropped - and the total count was nearly at 300. I made drastic dietary changes, lost 10 pounds and knocked the number down nearly 100 points without having to go on medication. Saturn in Virgo in action, definitely. :)

“I drive less and walk more.”

Not only is that great for one’s health, maybe if more people start opting to walk (or bicycle) instead of drive the environment will stand a chance.

I’m definitely paying more attention to what I’m eating, and I’m cooking a lot more. I’ve also managed to take care of my skin — no more pimples!

With my Venus in Virgo I have entered into a relationship that I think is going to be permanent, and I’m trying very hard to work on my career (Saturn trine Scorpio MC) and accuracy and ease of my communication (words have always been something I’m good with, but now I’m learning how to make small talk. I never had an earthly clue as to how to do that and now I do).

I looked at upcoming Saturn transits and I see a lot of 10th and 11th house stuff which is encouraging, especially with what I’m planning.

My 5H is Virgo with Pluto in very late degrees

Over the past two years or so I:

Started dancing - working (Saturn) on my physical wellbeing and health (Virgo) via something that is creative and brings me pleasure (5H)

Walked a lot of miles - I’m averaging 15 per week at the moment, and have consistently done that since I started this job in January. And it’s EASY if I just put my shoes on. I’ve definitely got Saturn support there - I used to struggle with this. Back to that “work hard and you will be supported” theme that I keep stumbling across.

Changed my thinking about how I handle setbacks/challenges (controlling your thoughts/mind)

I’m sure there is more but lunch is up!

Patience. Hard Work. Better communication skills.

And Saturn transiting over my Venus in Virgo opened my eyes to where I’ve faulted in relationships.

Hey Kashmiri! I missed coming here too - just had one thing after another after another etc. I would say I may possibly be seeing some light ahead. It is so nice to be missed - I hope all is well with you too :)

Saturn in the 11th (a Saturn return, too) has taught me to be more discriminating, less willing to just forgive, forget, and go with the flow when I know things are not quite right, especially regarding the love life. (South node opposite in Pisces).

Being picky isn’t necessarily a bad thing sometimes. Good people draw the line and say no too! : )

Saturn went through the third, including my first Saturn Return, and is now sitting on/near my Nodes and IC/MC axes (3° and 4° away, respectively).

I don’t know what I was supposed to learn from this, honestly. Whatever it was, if it was supposed to make me feel like a honest-to-goodness grown-up, it failed. I felt like an adult before, but now that Saturn’s almost done with this section of the wheel I feel decidedly infantile. Good in a way, I suppose, but definitely bad in others. I feel like all the work I did through my teens and early twenties has just completely been erased and I’m starting over again, older but most certainly not wiser — just more broken.
I guess one thing I did learn was the futility of talking sometimes. Maybe more often than not. *shrugs*

How fatalistic of me! *beams*

I can’t tell, I am still numb and wonder if I ever recover. But I have learned to communicate with dears in the mountains where I came to hide from Saturn. They stand and stare at me and I stare at them. I don’t think they know I am scared. I love this adventure. Thank you Saturn.
