1 Minute Astrology - Venus, Neptune, Leonard Cohen and Stephen Arroyo

4 minutes again

From 2007 - Please excuse the tears in this. I left them in because they are Venus / Neptune of course. Stephen Arroyo’s book is linked below. So is Leonard Cohen’s Energy of Slaves. I think my 8th house is also vividly displayed here. I get pregnant… easy.

UPDATE in 2009, I wound up sending the book of poems to the soldier’s son when he was in Iraq…

Elsa, that puzzles me. But you’re right, we’re never going to know what was behind that un-doing of the good action. Nevertheless, I can’t accept the possibility that it had anything to do with you not thanking them enough or anything like that, you shouldn’t doubt yourself or your good-will. I want to believe that it wasn’t a mean thing, probably something happened that was beyond their control.

I have had a gift taken away, no Venus-Neptune, but Neptune conjunct sun/midheaven amongst others. I’m sorry that happened to you. Mostly I notice things are promised and not delivered, but that really isn’t the same thing.

I must not have neptune. I’ve never experienced this, but it is very interesting.

Venus widely sextile Neptune, Moon conjunct Neptune. Years ago when I lived with an alcoholic (Neptune) he stole & sold a ring given to me by my grandfather. plus I had other jewelry stolen in a burglary (most of which only had value because they were gifts). Not quite the same as having some given or promised then taken back but similar. Like you, I don’t have strong needs for ‘things’ . . . except books, LOVE books. :-)

I have Neptune (12th) trine Venus (3rd) and Saturn (7/8th). The only presents I’ve received have been related to travel (plane tickets, bus tickets, free hotels) which is fitting because Neptune is in Sagittarius.

YES!! One Xmas, when I was a teen-age brat,my older sister bought a beautiful silk scarf for me.I know because I snuck in under the tree and unwrapped it to peek.I was thrilled that she thought enough of me to do something so extravagant.Who knew she loved me like that?Well,Christmas morning the gift was swapped for some crappy perfume that I didn’t like,Charlie or some such dimestore rot!Where went my beautiful scarf?Wha?!I never asked her about it,never saw her wear it or give it to anyone else.To this day I have no idea what happened to it.Venus in 12th square Neptune in 3rd(siblings!).

I have venus square Neptune, and for years a family member would visit just to help herself to anything given to me. When I protested, she would tell me I did not understand “sharing”!

I have Neptune in 12th and Venus in 10th and tend to receive crappy gifts, although I believe I give generous, thoughtful gifts. For example, last year, my BF wrapped up a gift he received for HIS birthday and gave it to me–not my size nor my color (a man’s shirt). On another note, a site dedicated to books, called http://www.bookmooch.com, lets users give their unwanted books away and ask for books they want. It works beautifully and all you pay is postage.

I have Neptune (1st) Opposing Venus (7th). I don’t want for much either. I either get a bunch of stuff out of nowhere, or I receive nothing. One thing I have noticed lately is I give everything away. If I have cash on me My husband gets it, My friend gets it, or I buy stuff for my family. I never take it and buy myself what I need.

Elsa, I’ve been meaning to write for ages to say how much I like the video blogs. The one about Geminis and light shoes made me laugh - I am a Gemini and now I realise why during the days of the Doc Martens fad (remember those?), I would only wear mine once or twice and then hardly ever. Now I know!

Anyway, as for Venus-Neptune aspects. I have Venus quincunx Neptune. Now that I think about it, I’ve rarely had gifts that make me go, “Wow, I’ve always wanted that!” Not that I didn’t appreciate the gifts that I got, I did, but it always seemed that people could never quite put their fingers on what I wanted (I’m not sure I could, either!).

Thank you.

You don’t need an excuse for tears. That’s the great thing about video, comes across in a whole new way that writing can’t.

^ Hey that’s right! ^

At first I didn’t think this applied so much to my Venus-Neptune opposition. But what hitchhiker said applies: I’m rarely (if ever?) gifted with what’s specifically and personally meant to be satisfying to me. It’s like they’re lazy and can’t be bothered to know me so assume (ass-u-me) I’d just like what they’d like.

Example: my cerebral, head in the clouds and books father got me for my 12th birthday an advanced astronomy book. One year I got a fancy calculator (he was an actuary). Usually he’d farm out the gift-getting to someone like a secretary, so at least it was gender-appropriate then…

My mother would get gifts for me like a really scratchy uncomfortable (cheap!) nightie (imagine that for a Taurus Venus) and a couple years ago I got from her something made of fur and suede when I’m an animal lover who, if I had more control over my life, would probably become staunchly anti- the use of animals for that kind of stuff. Sometimes I anticipate disapointment so much when getting something from her I’d like to cram the box in the charity bin before opening it.

Gift-giving is really I sign that you value someone enough to know them ~ it really says something that, especially in my family, simply giving money took the place of gifting. It’s viewed as more ‘expedient’, but it’s quite an insult isn’t it. ‘I don’t have the time / interest / inclination to know you and would like to write off that uncomfortable debt by signing my name on a check instead. The outside world and it’s workaday demands take precedence over our relationship, or over relating in general.’

I’ve got a couple planets trining with Neptune, but I can’t think of anything that applies to this one…

But it did occur to me that perhaps the person who gifted and ungifted the book ran into a financial issue and had to cancel the order. Something unexpected happens, a check bounces, a credit card is declined… Who knows!

Don’t apologize for the tears. Folks these days are starving for the genuine and it was kind of you to share this.

i get a lot of things promised to me that never show up. i don’t really take any future gifts seriously… only if i actually see it.
i thought that was normal though. people promising they’ll get you something and then never getting around to it.
but my venus/neptune is trine. i can’t remember a gift disappearing after it manifested.

Hi Elsa,

First of all, Leonard Cohen rocks. Right on.
I’m glad you got your book of poems. I think it so important to pass knowledge around. Whenever I buy books on Amazon I usually buy one or two extra copies to pass out to others.

I have Venus Opposing Neptune, but I have never had the problem you explained. However, I do resonate with many of the Venus/Neptune traits you have written about. I do think Ven/Nep. contacts are creative in a shape shifting type of way. It’s quite beauitful and idealistic. I have been the receipent of many kind gifts over the years, and for that, I am grateful.

Sometimes I get lucky and get the gifts I wanted (Venus trine Jupiter).

I’m kind of confused about Neptune. We’ve been talking about it’s problems a lot and I start to think Neptune? Uh oh.

Venus trine Neptune and Neptune in 7th house.
I often get gifts that are big surprises to me.
My Ex-husband bought me a lovely jewellery box for my 50th birthday last year (7 years after we separated).
My kids and I had organised a Secret Santa this past Christmas so we each only had to buy one $5 gift. However, they all ignored that and bought me lovely presents without my knowledge.

I had this problem with exes. Neptune is in the 7th, sextile Venus, and opposite Saturn. This explains (until I became aware of who I was attracting and made a conscious effort to change the pattern) why they were cheap with me, and when the thing was over, disappeared without a trace, not even bothering to tell me that we were over.

I quickly learned not to depend on them for gifts, either material or emotional. If I fell in love with something, I bought it myself. My family also was, and still is, generous with me, so that more than made up for it.

I think maybe I have the wrong attitude about gifts sometimes. I have venus in Taurus too. Sometimes people give me things and it might distantly tie in with an interest of mine, but at the same time the object will make it clear that the person doesn’t know me very well. I also really hate cheapy junk gifts. I have no problem with gift certificates or cash, or stuff that is somewhat generic like socks, just don’t give me stuff I will want to throw away.

I also have a thing where in my family it is very rude to give someone their gift back. And lately I have been interacting with some people who continually give things back to me that I gave them. They don’t ask for the receipt so they can return it and get something else, they just give it back. To me that is offensive. Sometimes the person will wait a year and then give it back unused. I’m ready to let someone else handle the gifting to these people. Make it not my problem.

I guess I have some issues with gift giving.

Elsa, with Venus linked to Neptune material and personal gifts as well as apparent values tend to dissolve or vanish so we can see the true gift of Love we’ve got from Heaven. You’ve got the gift, no need to be sad :)

Elsa

Well Conny, the sad part in this was when the universe gave me the book of poetry. I can still remember opening that package and just being STUNNED to be holding that book in my hand. I cry again just remembering (like in the video) and I looked around the packaging but nothing. There was no information as to where it came from… it was as if it just constellated in my hands that very moment in time.

I understand you very well, the universe sometimes gives no information and lives us alone with our gifts. And this is my question, what is easier, to give without knowing to whom our gift goes, or to receive without knowing where does our gift come from?

neptune in 2nd. busy 8th. yep this has happened to me countless times. use to really bug me. recently receiving has become more like giving: caring, thoughtful, gracious, open, appreciative. receivership is the real gift in the end. after that the ‘thing’ or whatever does not matter as much anymore. i heard someone say once: ‘you dont need anything unless you want to be great for others’.

btw how can one ‘unbuy’ a book?

26.
Elsa

isabelle the book had not been published so it was paid for to be shipped when available. Knowing “October” was coming I went to look at the ship date and it had been “un-bought”.

Maybe the gifter began having financial problems? Just a possibility…but I’m sorry this has happened so many times to you.

I have the opposition, and I used to get frustrated with gifts, when I didn’t have friends who knew me that well-Neptune’s in the 5th. But now that I express myself more it’s easier. Neptune definitely dissolves other things though–like creative business opportunities (it’s in Cappy). Now that you’ve brought it up, that makes soooo much sense. Is there a way to stop the dissolving? Or deal with it beneficially? I was thinking of your tide advice–going with the tides. I guess that is normal for a creative person, so I guess I should keep on going…I think I just answered my own question lol…but thanks for this post.

Speaking of Neptune and Leonard Cohen one of my favorite poems by him is “Forget your perfect offering, there’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in”.Your tears were a gift to us and what a genuine soul you are. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it ! (lol)

Venus Conjunct Neptune here.
I had a gold ring that said LOVE, it was given to me by my father when I was 9. Only gift he has EVER given me. It was stolen from a small jewelry box at the bottom of a storage box with a bunch of clothes and other shit on top. It was stolen from a disgusting junkie who is a Pisces. Things that get broken or missing or stolen are usually around the Neptunian influence of intoxication.

Elsa, to be honest, who cares why they took that book back from you. You are worthy of more and I hope you don’t take their actions personally. There reflection is not yours. Damn Neptune and Venus aspects! =)
