The song came on as I was getting to the outskirts of town. I could not believe the sound. It is precisely the kind of music I like and it started to fade out because I was getting out of range of the radio station. I pulled over on the side of the road to hear the song play and by the time it had finished, I had transcended and in fact I never had a painful thought about him again.

As the song states, he really did treat me extremely well right up until he didn’t. Classic Scorpio. If their energy is on you, it’s on you and if they take it off, then it’s gone but once this happens… well you may as well hit the road, jack!

There was another angle too. He was a musician very into Sinatra and such and I like this other kind of music. So I was going to see my old friends with the music *I* like the best playing and it just felt like freedom is all. I felt I was back with my people and my things and he was where he belonged. Er… I had joined his movie there for awhile but was now back in my own and I liked it.

I also learned a lot because I decided as I pulled off the side of the road to merge with the traffic on the interstate, that for the rest of my life if anyone ever quit treating me well, stopped loving me or valuing me, I would do just like the song says and that is a priceless lesson.
