Business! With Pluto In Capricorn It’s Become A Dirty Word!
Astrology in real life
Business. With Pluto In Capricorn, it has become a dirty word. Well you all know how contrary I am. I like business. I even like big business. What I like most about big business is little people can take them down.
Little people can also compete with big business if they’re smart enough and come up with an innovation. One of my favorite examples of this is the Discover Card. You may or may not be old enough to remember the Discover card when it came out but I remember. It the time there was Visa, Mastercard and American Express and they had a total stronghold in the credit card business…. right up until someone came up with a better idea.
Discover card came out offering a 5% rebate on all purchases and people like me defected right away. At first the card was only welcome at Sears but Discover card encouraged people holding the cards to ask the retailers where they shopped to accept the card. We did exactly that and the rest is history.
I love stories like this. Stories like Paypal, which was another person’s innovative idea. I love the free market. I love any system that encourages clever or merely hard-working people to innovate. I would, seeing as I am one of them.
Business, power, the government and the little people are all hot topics with Pluto in Capricorn.
What is visceral reaction when you hear the word “BUSINESS”? Any other comments?

Yeah, I don’t get it. Damn that business person who invented the computer!! Well that MF’er!!!
My visceral reaction is: “MONEY!”
Maybe that’s more like word association…
I’m fascinated by business. I have a small one and am a lazy businesswoman. I feel like if I knew how to make money, I’d be a millionaire but feel clueless….
Innovation seems KEY here. What can you give that no one else is giving?
methinks:
business is the foundation of our civilization.
greed (trying to get something for nothing) and abuse of power tend to be the places it grows ugly.
(take out the word “our” and that first sentence becomes more clear)
My families business is booming at the moment - we have just opened another workshop - I run the business with my parents and even though I never thought I would be any good at it when I was younger - It comes naturally - It must be the mars in Capricorn ![]()
It is certainly a challenge…..
Hi Elsa,
from one who deeply appreciates your entrepreneur spirit and in support of every creative mind and heart engaged in business I thought to pass along this recent article from Rolling Stone Magazine, in case you and your readers haven’t read it, apropos Pluto in Capricorn shedding light on that which is hidden……..

Matt Taibbi: How Goldman Sachs Seized Washington
I think of that one song from Cabaret - haha but that’s not what business is all about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkRIbUT6u7Q
I respect the entrepreneurial spirit like crazy.
Oh god, clips like that one Jilly just recommended not just make my blood boil but make it vaporize into a poisonous gas.
If it weren’t for the entrepreneurial spirit and the tireless work of innovators and people who want to make an honest profit from an honest living and do right by those who seek their product, we’d be back in the Stone Age. That is honorable and good and decent. Say what you will about Steve Jobs, but I’m willing to pay a premium for all the good stuff he’s produced over the years, from Apple to Pixar. I <3 my Macbook.
What chaps my ass something fierce is when those who did little in the way of sweat equity twist that into something ugly, cheapen the product, and try to wring all your money and value out of you, your family, your fellow humans and your planet for nothing except their own individual greed — THAT is a crime against humanity and against you as an individual. Look all around you — from Big Shady Banks, companies who profit off third world labor, agribusiness, most of the media, everything. You’re forced to carry that greed on your back — it’s in the air you breathe, the clothes you wear, the food you eat.
And frankly I’m glad to see the pendulum swinging back toward some semblance of justice toward balance — unfortunately it’s going to take a while, and people will continue to suffer while things work themselves out. Pluto moves slowly.
I took the opportunity to sleep in this morning after several days of insomnia — I didn’t think I had a firebreathing sermon in me so soon after getting up. I’m not even a fire sign.
Dang.
20% of the people do 80% of the work. Mess with this balance too much and you’re going to have trouble / something not sustainable.
Just curious - what do you see as the pendulum going toward balance because I’m not seeing that at all.
Oh man, by the time I’m done with this comment, Elsa’s gonna kick me off and tell me to get my own blog…
There’s no one thing I can point to without plumbing the depths of my faulty memory
for the multitude of stuff I’ve been reading for months on end now. For me, it starts with the mere existence of information. What a miracle it is that the internet is still mostly uncorporatized and you can speak to any audience you can gather! The mainstream media will generally feed you what they want you to know, which is not much. I take the old method of “Bread and Circuses” very seriously. Worked for the Romans, works for us.
I firmly believe that this is going to be a three steps forward, two steps back process for many, many years. Think of Hillary Clinton’s failed foray into healthcare reform early last decade, and think of where we are now in that discussion. I don’t expect a full solution out of this go-round either — see all the fuss over a true single-payer option — but we’re closer than we were. Through reading various liberal blogs, I’m seeing a revivification of a union movement, and lord knows that’s gonna be beaten back more than once before it really regains its muscle.
There is some attempt to regulate this worm-eaten financial system of ours, but given that so many from that very system are burrowed into Obama’s administration, starting with Geithner and Summers, it will take some time, many scandals, and a lot of wasted time and money till all the dirt is worked out. And even then it will not be 100 percent clean. It just won’t.
History, both recent and not, reassures me a bit. The Lilly Ledbetter act being signed into law was heartening. Didn’t do Lilly much good, but by god a lady now has the right to make as much as any man doing the same job. And, I sit here today free and clear to speechify at home, because people DIED to give me the right to have a five day workweek and a proper lunch hour and the occasional holiday off.
It’s like Winston Churchill said, Americans can be counted on to do the right thing after they have exhausted all other possibilities.

They say the book “The Shock Doctrine” by Naomi Klein is really good, but I haven’t read it yet, shame on me.

Happy Independence Day everyone! Cherish it.
neva, your opinions are welcome here! I am sorry your comments keep going into the trash, it’s an error!!
I’m a 2nd house Cappy Moon, and spend my life researching people’s emotional connections to business, money, things. It’s a pervasive, underexamined, and undervalued part of our culture. Highly fraught emotionally. Nobody is neutral on this subject.
I figured as much, no hurry to seen/heard on my part.
I’m just a bit sheepish that I’m being so yackety and sucking all the air outta the room. This subject gets me fired up!
I didn’t mean to comment again but I noticed that one of my links goes to a flea control site, not the PBS program. Heh…serves me right for not checking.
This is the right link for Frontline, the tv series, not Frontline, the flea collar!

Everyone should watch their programs on boomer retirement/401ks and the credit card industry. BIG eye opener.
*this might be a duplicate comment, sorry if it is
Well the financial system could use some vermin control haha.
I come from a total pro free market perspective
good book - maybe elsa can make it link to her account

This post makes me wonder why “business” or liking it is so taboo. At least it feels that way to me…like one isn’t supposed to admit it!
