I didn’t get out of the ER last night until about midnight but still kept my appointment with the window salesman today which turned out to be “men” as in 2 of them. I don’t like to mess up people’s schedules, see. But they came in, started double teaming me, hard selling, calling me “Miss Elsa” and various other things that get on my nerves so I asked them to cut to the chase and give me a quote.
“We’ll get to that, Miss Elsa,” the repulsive salesman said, “sell, sell, sell, sell.”
“I don’t think you heard me,” I said with killer Dora by my side. “I know the pitch, I want the quote and if you don’t give it to me and right away, I am going to throw you out of my house.”
On that, the supervisor took over while the “even more offensive” junior salesman worked up the quote.
I realize I was rude but it was either that or walk over to the kitchen drawer, get a knife and stab them.
I don’t really like the name, Miss Elsa all that much and either does Dora come to think of it. They were disrupting her sleep.
(Tip for the frugal: If your house needs windows, there is a 30% tax credit between now and 2010 from the stimulus package. 30% back on what you spend on materials, does not include labor.)

If you walk into a person’s house, call them, “Miss Elsa” and see them glare, that is your clue, dumb ass.
Plus the soldier call just as they walked in. ‘Excuse me, please,” I said answering the phone. “Are you okay, the window salesmen are here.”
I was off the phone in 4 seconds only to be hit by a two-pronged assault around how they were not salesman.
Er… I don’t need my words chosen for me, assholes. You’re not supposed to listen to a person’s conversation are you?

I agree with Goddess that it was not rude: they needed direction getting to the point, maybe be not in a perfect ideal ‘Libra’ talk which got results.

I’ve got Aries Mars in my 4th House. I’d chuck ‘em out lickity split, sales pitch be damned. I won’t be disrespected in my own home!

i’ve met very few salespeople i actually like.
some of them actually seem motivated to connect you with what you want/need, and those are awesome. but they’re not too common, in my experience….
…and i think part of that is that so many of them live in that frame of mind where the only thing that matters is getting to the sale, not what you think or want or actually want to know. it seems horribly disrespectful.
The window business is pretty cutthroat and buyer beware. The availability of the tax credit is causing all sorts of hijinks, basically if I spend $1500 extra, I can get $500 back, that makes no sense.

Hey, didn’t see your last comment…but I see you’re back. Thank goodness. Yea, that’s weird, about the tax credit but good to know. I can’t take advantage of it but will pass on to friends who can.

I don’t consider it rude to insist a salesperson get to the point, especially when some are Soooooo aggressive. I’ve had to yell before.
It’s a stupid salesman who doesn’t take a clear cue from the potential customer.
