I have taken comfort from this song at various times since I heard it 20 years ago. Saturn rules time… he mentions “law and order”. The girl singers, “You ain’t getting no younger…”

Well no one has voted but I think he is right.
When I first heard this song I was too young to know (and he was awfully young when he wrote it) but I am old now and have seen it.
Yes, I’m seeing this play out in my life. Living several few decades does this to a gal. I’ve never heard the song till now, and yes, I find comfort in knowing the truth of it. And, laugh at the way I ‘read the post’ and laughed harder when I listened to the song. Guess it takes years to learn to laugh at yourself?!

i saw that line first in a comic in the new yorker, when richard nixon died, i believe…
but, yeah. there are some bitter elders out there, because they’ve fossilized in their uglieness.

i’ve wondered… is there ever a “too late/ too early” for people to change… i look at some of these kids i’m dealing with and wondering how they can ever learn some empathy…. but i can’t allow myself to assume any of them are hopeless… i just need to develop my toolkit… just like, maybe, it’s never too late? there’s those major pluto and uranus transits as people age… and i’ve seen some people change dramatically after passing through.
but you have to feel the wound to fix the problem…
