“My love for you is so deep, it scares you,” the soldier said. “That’s why you won’t marry me,” he added.

“Nice probe,’ I said. “Nice but wholly ineffective attempt to manipulate me.”

He looked at me, his face a mixture of guilt and innocence.

“I know what you’re doing. You’re trying to find the button and push it. Well that’s not it! Tell me I am coward so I’m supposed to go right to a wedding and marry you to prove otherwise.”

He blushed.

“Yeah, I am not quite that stupid but I’m glad you’re doing this, it’s a nice ambition. I hope you keep working at this because I’m sure you’ll the nail it eventually and we’ll both benefit. I am not sure why you underestimate me though,” I said with a mild smirk.

He wrinkled his nose involuntarily but jeez. Surely he can shoot better than that. This reminds me of when I threw those cans up in the air expecting him to shoot them. I was just stunned at his misses. “How can you miss these?” I asked. “Jeez man, you didn’t hit even one!?!”
