Instrument Of The Universe Redux: Giving

Ask the collective

giving new shoesAfter I wrote that Elsa P, Hired Gun piece I realized I just feel called upon by the universe to do things, period. It may be to take out the bad the guy but the I have many other functions.

I was called to create the top 10 Sources of Astrology News, which is now the Astro Dispatch. Someone had to do that and it became clear I was the person best positioned to launch everyone else.

There are also times I really, REALLY extend myself to certain people for reasons that are not necessarily apparent and I have seen people moved to do things for me in what I feel must be a similar fashion.

- There is goddess, for example who after reading me for many years wrote me one day to offer anything I needed in regards to design.
- There is HQ who helped me write, provided this blog and has paid the hosting bill since it’s inception.
- There is the gal in Wyoming who provided me with a vacation… TWICE!
- I have others who quietly (but routinely) email their support, tip or make or make various other gestures like shopping on Amazon via that link.

I never feel obligated when I accept this kind of grace, outside of continuing to do my best because I always conclude these people are moved in the same way I am moved to do certain thing. You just know you’re supposed to and the motive is very pure.

Have you ever been moved to give like this? Where is your Jupiter?

Hey everybody, Happy Valentines Day to all!

Whoever said this I can’t remember, but it has always been my favorite holiday too; romantic that I am. And it has been a grand one for me!

Anyway, to get back on point, I was talking about socks before, and I was talking about how I buy so many socks (and wistfully thinking “I wish I could get them through amazon.com” so that I could support Elsa with all my sock buying), and then some smart person told me that I can probably even buy socks through amazon.com!!! I felt doubtful, but, needing socks today, I checked it out.

Well, guess what, it’s true! (I think it was either kashmiri or satori who told me, sorry I don’t quite remember who told me.) And they sell jeans too! Today I bought a total of 16 items through Elsa through amazon.com, mostly socks, but some jeans too (and within the past few days I have also bought 5 other items through Elsa through Amazon.com which are music items [CD's]). Ooooo, I even indulged in a couple of pairs of cashmire socks, woo woo and ooh la la, gotta pamper those Pisces tootsies!

So that is 21 items through your blog so far this month with amazon.com Elsa, and there will be more as there are some videos I plan to buy too (e.g., after having just seen it again very recently I realized that I MUST OWN a copy of the movie ‘Thelma and Louise.’ It’s soooooooooooo Great!)

So yes, for one thing, I totally feel moved to support this blog in anyway that I can, and it has been like that since the beginning. Don’t know why. Just feel moved to do it. Something about Elsa’s energy (if I had to guess) is what drives this ‘feeling moved to support this blog.’

I also frequently feel moved to support certain people all along my path, and this now includes my new plans to adopt older children and sibling- groups through the American foster care system. That will involve “pledges” of a lot more than money…also time, emotional love and caring, and all of my social work and psych skills that I have ever developed and can muster (with some of these kids and their special needs) it will probably require even more than that.

I also feel moved to contribute to certain organizations that support animals which may be being abused, or may be going extinct. these include contributing to organizations such as the SPCA and the endangered animals group which protects near-extinct animals like polar bears.

I have also “adopted” (over time) a certain number of children; these are the children that you never see, they never “come home” to you, but they send you a picture and a letter (a la that movie with jack nicolson if anyone remembers that one). I have done that several times and I want soon to do more.

And I also contribute certain amounts of money in support of my political causes, namely, certain of those which do the most to promote social justice.

So here’s the astrology: I have Jupiter in the 5th house in Cancer double conjunct Uranus (conj lat and conj decl) with a very tight orb (about 1 degree orb in both directions). My Jupiter also receives trines from my 8th house Saturn in Scorpio and from my rising degree of the Pisces rising, whatever all that means.

yeah, kashmiri, this is a kick ass keyboard (from you) with letters that are still visible even though I pound on them constantly! I got some brownies from MzScarlett, they were delish!!

I got some Elsa’s Cookies too from that gal before she got mad at me for talking about the soldier. ::sighs::

That’s my next piece by the way.

With Venus Neptune sometimes they give… and then take away. ooh, ouch. Damn Neptune, when you’ve got a veil you like to keep it there!

I give like this all the time. I give (Jupiter) actively (in Aries) for what are often subconscious reasons (12th house).

Jupiter retrograde in Aquarius- 4th house. I swear, I feel most alive when I’m serving others. But it gets real tricky. I feel vital when I’m a bridge for others—but the trick is to do this without being stepped on. Otherwise I simply cannot be fed. That’s my gemini sun (8th) house and libra rising (1st) I guess??

I also think Pluto has a hand in my notion of service, generosity, and receiving. I’ve been humbled a lot by Pluto these past few years… but the upside is this energy is helping me appreciate my natal Jupiter. The purer my motive, the more joy I take in giving, and the more open I am to receiving. Deep stuff—but it’s playing out big time lately.

Yes, I’ve always done it this way. I think it’s a universal law, that’s why it feels so good :)

Jupiter in Sag, retro, 2nd House. I am very generous with my family (of course especially my kids), but I will not lie and say that I give discriminately to everyone. I dote on loved ones, and they get all of me. I just don’t want to lie and pretend to be something I am not. I will always have a kind word, and a sympathetic ear, to others outside of my family who need emotional or moral support. I think this has alot to do with having parents who lived through the depression - to put it bluntly, my parents were cheap, and hardly ever just gave without expecting something in return. I do often have fantasies though, of winning the lottery, and going around and just handing money out to those in need - that would truly be awesome.

Yes, I often have felt like I had a deep impulse to give- ideas and advice especially. I feel like if ppl. listened to me more, they would be rich lol…Jupiter in cap, 5th house, opp sun/merc/venus, sq. moon, conj. Neptune–so I’m slowly learning temperance with this and also learning that people do the checks/balances thing a lot when it comes to giving, which still shocks me since I wasn’t born that way, although I’m learning to be, though through intuition, which if you use, you just don’t get stepped on as much. But that takes becoming still and assessing situations for a bit of time. I’m also trying to be less optimistic and give myself advice and say screw it, they can help themselves if they’re not grateful.

I guess I’m going through a cynical phase- but I’m glad I read your post because I want to be optimistic about this stuff again. And now that I think about it, people give me a lot also- esp. when I read this blog, or other astrology sites where I talk to people- the amount of understanding I’ve received and acquired not just about astrology but about the human condition is immense. It’s quite beautiful, so thank you for your blog since you’re a part of that.

I always compliment people whenever I can - strangers on the bus, work colleagues, friends, family whoever I come across. I feel really strongly about it. It doesn’t take a minute or cost a thing to say something nice to someone and it may be the only the nice thing they hear all day. I love seeing people’s faces light up.

My parents are depression parents also (mom was born in 1930; father deceased in 1971) but mom is one of the most cheap people I know, like in tipping she is embarassing and I always leave extra money under the plate. She has no allowing for inflation in tipping and to her it is actually a big deal to tip someone a dollar. The smaller the financial matter, the worse she is. Right now I need to send her a check for 20 bucks that I owe her for losing a lock box key, and I just have not been able to find an envelope, or I forget, and she is on me every day.

I think that if this has influenced me in any way, it is to do the opposite of what she does. It is all so fucking sad right now anyway, every penny she has saved for her whole life and now her portfolio is down 60 percent and it really actually does look like she could run out of money. So, in addition I have now learned that being cheap is no guarentee of financial security in late life anyway (not that it would have changed me).
