Saturn Transits And Weightlifting

Astrology in real life

mattmvmax2.jpgFirst thing to say is this is not my idea. I got it our of Caroline Casey’s book, Making the Gods Work for You: The Astrological Language of the Psyche which is an excellent book for inspired, ethereal or Jupiter types. While the title of the book implies “control”, her premise is not like this. She offers very good (and innovative) ideas around aligning with the various energies. It’s a book full of stuff you’ll not find anywhere else.

In the case of Saturn or Saturn transits, she suggests anyone feeling oppressed consider lifting weights. The idea is to push back against what is weighing you down. She points quite correctly the worst that can happen if you lift weights during a Saturn transit is you’ll wind up stronger but fact is if you actually do this you are apt to wind up with a variety of benefits… for example, your body looks and feels grand and exercise wards off depression that is characteristic of Saturn transits.

In whatever case, I read her book when it was published 10 years ago and have used weights during Saturn transits since. Namely, I strap them to my body! I have used ankle weights… up to 10 pounds on each leg and walked around like that, briskly but these Valeo 20-Pound Weighted Vest “>new weighted vests are much better because of the weight distribution. With the weight centered on your body you are far less likely to injure yourself.

I’ve got Saturn transiting my Moon now which is well and widely known to be one of the worst transits due the depression aspect, so I am back on the weights and have to say this is extremely effective. I volunteer for the burden, see. And when I take the vest off I am walking on air and at the end of the transit? Well I expect I’ll be looking pretty delicious… ;-)

I realize this is not for everyone but the principal is. If you are going to be burdened anyway, you may as well embrace it. The alternative of course is to crushed.

Saturn is sitting on my moon. I like playing “The Weight” over and over.

Sounds very interesting! I’ll give it a try:)
I’m in a strange place these days, where my body is depressed, but my mind not so much, if you can believe that:p I mean, usually, it supposed to work both ways, right?;) T Saturn is on my 8th house Sun.
With the current Mars transit forming a grand trine with my Sun and Moon, this ought to be a great time for me for some strenous physical labor:) (But Venus is making me lazyyy and make up excuses!)
And thank you for recommending the book:) On my wish list it goes;)

I work out with free weights, but I never thought to use a weight-belt. I would be a little nervous about hurting my back. I must say that using weights does help me to feel grounded, and not to mention stronger. I have to be careful with them though, because I have had injuries in the past. I find what works best for me is very slow movements.

excellent idea, reminds me of some of the vedic ideas about remedies to challenges, which I love for their amazing effectiveness.

Good advice! I have removed one hell of a big pile of weight off of my shoulders recently and I am walking on air. Saturn turned retro within a half degree of my Sun and it felt like I was wheat in a grist mill, but now I am smiling more than I have in a long time! I am grooving in the now and drinking in the energy soup which hopefully will help me figure out this Pluto Moon transit. And thanks Elsa for all that you have taught me about this kind of transit! It really sneaks up on you and kicks you in the gut sometimes! Fortunately I am lean and my stomach muscles are getting much stronger.

Gah…that explains it…it’s on my moon. I cried all weekend..wracking sobs and broken heart, but I worked all day yesterday and today and feel much better. Serving and lifting. Elsa, you amaze me with hitting the nail on the head, every time!
