Demystifying Astrology: What Is A Stellium?
Astrology for beginners
Sometimes the planets bunch up together in the sky. When this happens, you usually hear about it on the news. Babies are born during these times and if you are one of them, then you have a “stellium” in your chart.
People who have stelliums in their charts have a lot of focus on one sign or house and this explains how you can meet a Pisces who acts like a Leo.
You look at the chart and see the Sun in Pisces but the Moon, Mars and Jupiter and ascendant are all in Aries you have your explanation right there.
A stellium generally refers to 3 or more planets in one sign in a chart.
Do you have a stellium in your chart?

Yep! I’ve got Sun, Mercury, Mars, Pluto, and Uranus all in Libra, with all of those but the Sun being in the 8th House. Not sure what that means, but there ya go! ![]()
Yes, I do, in Taurus. Sun, Mars, Mercury, plus the north node.
Libra… Mars, Ascendant, Saturn, Pluto. They’re spread out for the most part, as I don’t have Mars/Saturn or Saturn/Pluto conjunct by normal orb rules.
Thanks! I was just thinking of that today and told myself I’d find out. You got to it before me. ![]()
Libra in Jupiter, Saturn & Pluto. (gonna sooner or later learn what all this means)
Yup, stellium in Libra here too. Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all in the 6th house.
Yes, Mercury, Mars and Venus conjunct in Capricorn plus South Node in Cap but not conjunct. Go figure
Mercury, Neptune conjuct midheaven in Libra, 10th house, also Venus, later in Libra, tenth house. And there’s an opposition of the moon to the Neptune cluster. So what does it all mean? This is the long axis of the kite shape in my chart, with Neptune et al at the apex. A career as a shape-shifter?
Yup. Mars-Venus-Pluto in Libra.
I’ve noticed that almost all of my close friends have stelliums, too, though I don’t know what that means about me. *lol*
If 3 or more planets = a stellium, then we could have more than one stellium in a chart? Is there a way to know which stellium is stronger?
(eg. I have TAURUS Mercury, Sun, Saturn and AQUARIUS Mars, Moon, North Node.)
Nope, no stellum for me. Close though, all my planets are on one side of the chart, so I have two planets in each of those signs. Two in Leo, Virgo, Sag., Scorpio, and Libra. My N. Node is in Cancer. I don’t really know what that means though, or if it has any signifigance.
Mnhm, I have Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Chiron all in Leo 12th house. Not very fun for me.
Yes, in Libra. Mercury, Venus, Mars and Pluto all within 9 degrees. Merc/8th, Pluto/9th cusp and Venus/Mars/9th. Pluto rules my NN, MC and 11th house! The “iron fist in a velvet glove”-thing they say about Libra is very true for me, even if the stellium is tempered by a sextile to Neptune/12th. (Sun/Virgo/8th). One of my most visible roles is teaching and learning (right and wrong) by example. When I get it wrong, I’m promptly punished - just like Jeff Green writes about the 9th house Pluto;)
Salute. I have a Capricorn marching band in my first house. Salute.
In Leo - sun, venus, uranus. But I do believe I appear more like a Scorpio (rising, moon, neptune).
do other things count like, chiron, part of fortune, nodes? or just the planets sun thru pluto
WOW - I have my kids charts handy so I can better understand them, and the two that were born in 92 and 93, 13 months apart both have MOON, URANUS AND NEPTUNE CONJUNCT IN CAPRICORN.
do other things count like, chiron, part of fortune, nodes? or just the planets sun thru pluto
I’d consider Chiron, note the node, not note the part of fortune.
In other words Mecury, Venus and the node is no stellium! We’re looking for BODIES here.
“We’re looking for BODIES here.” OK I see.
My oldest son has a stellium, uranus, mars, neptune in sag/9th. Even though his sun is libra, is he going to think like a sag or come across like a sag?
I have a stellium in the 6th house.
Sun, Moon, Saturn, Neptune, Mercury, Uranus.
I have no idea what that means. Except maybe that I worry A WHOLE LOT. I also overanalyze EVERYTHING to the point that it worries me.
I also have three planets in Sagittarius and three planets in Capricorn.
I have two and they square one another. Sun, Mercury and Jupiter (and NN) in Gemini and Mars, Pluto and Uranus in Virgo. I am very focused on being distracted in two different directions. Whee! ![]()
I have two of ‘em. Three planets each in Virgo and Libra.
My 7 yo daughter has one in Sag: Venus, Mercury, Pluto, and the Sun, the last three conjunct.
Sun, Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus and Venus in Libra, 9th house. Don’t ask me to decide where we’re going for dinner.
Moon, Venus, Jupiter & Uranus in Libra in the 6th. I have Pluto in the 6th but its in Virgo. Mercury is ALSO in the 6th but its sign is Scorpio. My 6th house is just packed lol.
Now I do have Mercury, Sun and Neptune in Scorpio, but theyre spread between two houses 6th & 7th.
Maybe Becca but I’m sure you could recommend something beautiful to read! ![]()
I have Sun, Mercury, and Pluto in Libra (in 4th) but I don’t know, my overall chart is so splashy that I never think of this group as a stellium. Maybe it’s the house placement?
Now BECCA has a stellium going on. I feel ya and I would never do that to you, Becca. ![]()
I have a 4-planet stellium in House 10 in Sagittarius. My Scorp Sun is in House 9, which is ruled by Sagittarius.
In my progressed chart, my Sun has moved to Sag.
LC: I know a guy with stelliums in Pisces and Virgo, so it can happen. Everything opposes each other in his chart (I think he has a random Aries moon and that’s it). I think it’s a pretty ugly thing to deal with.
Jennifer, I don’t know that I’d agree it’s necessarily ugly to deal with. One of the things I learned from Elsa was that my Virgo bunch of planets means I also have a lot of Pisces energy, although I didn’t really own most of it before. Not to say it may not be challenging, ’cause it can. But as I’ve started to look for more ways to acknowledge both types of energy openly, it’s become easier for me.
And I appreciate the clarification, because I had wondered if only personal planets count, but sounds like the outer bodies count, too. So I can vouch a stellium in Virgo. ![]()
Sun, merc & venus in Cap…hey at least i’m well grounded ![]()
no.
my kiddo has a doozy in leo, though (especially if you count the ascendant.) and a smaller one in cancer.
and can i ever tell!
“Do you have a stellium in your chart?”
I have two tighly packed stellia - Moon, Mars, Uranus & Pluto, third house, opposed by Chiron, Saturn, Venus & Sun, ninth house.
Jennifer said: “I think it’s a pretty ugly thing to deal with.”
Yeah, it can be, but since it’s the 3rd and 9th houses, I learn a lot! It’s like living on a teeter-totter… and sometimes the person on the other side just jumps off and leaves you to crash to the ground! Or… you feel like the wimpiest, most indecisive Libra that ever lived (sorry Libras!). It’s stressful and finding ways out of the stress can be interesting.
Is it still a stellium if it spans two signs (same house)?
“LC: I know a guy with stelliums in Pisces and Virgo, so it can happen. Everything opposes each other in his chart (I think he has a random Aries moon and that’s it). I think it’s a pretty ugly thing to deal with.”
Jennifer, I just read Elsa’s comment that the N.Node doesn’t count so I guess I don’t have a stellium in Aquarius. But I hear ya, I have lots of squares in my chart and they’re tough.
Also wondering if my Sun-Sat-Merc in Taurus counts as a stellium because Merc is in a different house?? ie, they are in the same sign but not all “bunched up”.
I don’t know if I have a stellium but if I did it would explain a few things. I have never felt like my sign.
“Is it still a stellium if it spans two signs (same house)”
I suppose one of them is a stellium in a sign, the other is stellium in a house but since the term ’stellium” refers to 3 or more planets in a sign I would call one a “stellium in Libra” and the other, “a packed 7th house”.
Others may understand otherwise. This is just one of those things.
I have 2 cousins who are both very pregnant. One has a scheduled c-section in a few weeks (falling under Aquarius). I worked up a preliminary chart for the new arrival and he will definitely have a stellium in Aquarius.
The other baby, who should come a few weeks later, will also probably fall under the stellium but with the Sun in Pisces.
Impressive to see the comments full of stelliums in libra - me too!
Well I have venus in Aquarius and I’m Aquarius rising, but I guess that doesn’t constitute a stellium. I have Sadge in my 10th (midheaven?)and 11th houses and in Neptune. But is that a stellium?
I think I’m just way quirky!
So.. ok. Huh. I’m looking at a stellium in Leo then with mars, mercury, venus and the sun, and also a “packed first house” how interesting…
wow, a lot of people have stelliums!
I have Sun, Uranus, Mercury, Moon in Sag in the 6th. Pluto and Saturn are in the 5th, and Neptune Venus Jupiter are in 7th - so almost my entire chart is squished into 3 houses.
I have Sun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter all in Aquarius……yeah O and I Have Venus, Mars and my Lilth in Aries
VERY HARD HEADED ![]()
“Is it still a stellium if it spans two signs (same house)”
In my opinion yes.
‘A Stellium refers to three or more Planets that form a series of Conjunctions in an astrological chart, regardless of whether the Planets span into two Houses or if they are in different Signs or the same Sign. Whatever the combination may be, their combined energies create a particular focus, making a Stellium deserving of attention.’

I have Saturn, Sun, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Pluto, all in 7th house (Libra Ascedent). Do not know whether they are beneficial or a desaster for me, but I always try to balance my relationships. My birth day is 8 Nov 1982 (A Scorpio with Libra Ascedent). Can somebody research and let me know what the chart says about me….? I am worried….
