My Interview With Michael Erlewine, Founder Of Matrix Software

December 22nd, 2008 @ 5:38 am by Elsa

Outtakes and various other sundries…

michael.gifMichael Erlewine has been a man to know in the astrological world for more than 40 years. He founded Matrix Software in 1977. It was the first astrology company as well as one of the first software companies on the internet right alongside Microsoft.

If you like your ability to calculate charts in seconds you’ve got Erlewine to thank. I’ve got Erlewine to thank for finding out I am a Capricorn rising rather than Aquarius! My sister messed up the math when we were kids and if software had not been created where would I be right now, hmm? More than confused than ever!

He contacted me a few days ago to ask if I would be interested being interviewed by him and I jumped at the chance. A flurry of emails followed.

Erlewine is a compelling and immensely kind and generous man. I enjoyed working with him tremendously and I hope you like the result.

Thank Micheal Erlewine for astrology software here.

Really nice interview (great pics too!) It was fun to see that I already knew a lot about you from reading your blog, but I still learned some new things, too. Hope it brings new blessings your way.

What Jilly said! I laughed thinking about you and your sister and your Cayce books by your head.

Yeah, well that was her idea, kashmiri but we sure as hell did that and I mean for weeks at a time.

And then we’d trade books. Which means we would fight over which book when by which head because you know my family. We will fight ya! We’ll fight ya with our eyes closed! We’ll fight you with one hand like the Cowardly Lion himself!

I am telling you, learning astrology was a bloody affair ’round my house. Mars Mercury all the way!

That’s brilliant, that is. What I really liked about this interview, too, is how it makes me think about how I got interested in astrology myself, despite being raised in a religious environment, I look at my parents (my mum with all her Aquarius and Aries, and my Dad with his Libra and Sagittarius) and wonder why they stayed in church for so long. I mean, my Dad was trying to tell me god was everything while reading Cayce himself!

What a great interview! It was really nice to read. You seem so very real and down to earth, and simply ‘Here I am’ without pretension.

Thanks Shannon but I am telling you that camera is magic. If I looked that good in reality, I’d faint!

Hey, you gave a great interview Elsa. I was interested in how you could predict a divorce from that situation with the Venus in 11th conj. Uranus and then Uranus T. 7. My question is this: would it matter which house Venus was in? If not, that is very interesting. If so, is there something specific to the 11th house that I might be missing?

It was a blast seeing you in an interview setting. Super grats!

Hubby went up to Hopkinsville KY and talked to some Cayce relatives a long time ago. I’ve tried that book thing too only I wasn’t a kid & it didn’t work out for me haha.

I think it did work for me, Jilly. I thought it was so much bullshit at the time but now I wonder. :-)

My mother read to me while I was asleep. Wish it had been Cayce. Actually, it was the stuff for my Episcopalian confirmation examination. I had learned each and every prayer and commandment and whatever so precisely and so comprehensively that the priest said he’d never seen anything like it. So I don’t know bout sleeping with the book over your head, but if you want to memorize anything, record it and listen in your sleep! seriously.
