The Bernard Madoff Story…. Who Believes This It, Hmm? I Think It’s A Crock

Astrology in real life

madoff_web.jpgThat Elsa P. She’s so paranoid… But lookee here. I don’t believe the Bernard Madoff story as told. Are you kidding me?

Bernard Madoff is 70 years old which means his sons are probably near 50. They’ve been in business with him for 20 years, livin’ high but they don’t know anything? ::rolls eyes::

The Menendez brothers come to mind. “Let’s take out daddy.” But I’ll tell you what is just as likely if not more likely.

The family sees the ship is going down. Perhaps the father is ill? In whatever case he is old so they cook up this scheme where he takes the fall and sell it to the public. Now doubt they’ve got plenty of money squirreled away somewhere and the people behind the scenes know it’s a crock but hey. It’s a case they don’t have to solve.

Tell me this sounds like the truth:

“Mark and Andrew Madoff are not involved in the firm’s asset management business, and neither had any knowledge of the fraud before their father informed them of it on Wednesday,” said the statement by Flumenbaum of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York.”

Ha ha ha ha.

Some 50 year old man tells me, ‘Oh jeez look what my daddy did…” never mind two of them (brothers), I am going to laugh ‘em right off the planet.

This is Pluto in Capricorn story all right. This is a manipulative father however I would not be so sure he’s going down. Chances are far greater he is continuing to manipulate… business as usual. Just look at that face.

I am sorry but this story is not plausible. The fact it would be told in this manner is though.

having worked on wall street, gotta say, this makes more sense than anything i’ve read in the main street media. money is something different on ‘planet finance’. you try to get away with as much as you can as long as you can without being caught….

Oh thank you. This was EXACTLY what my SO and I thought when we saw this story. But then again, we’re kind of cynical about the corporate moneymaking system to start with.

Isn’t capricorn (elders/father) in pluto (power) going to show those sons a thing or two? Ooooh should be fun to watch.

and i’m also thinking that this is the debacle predicated by the gemini full moon that had everyone in a tizzy…

It had occurred to me that the dad volunteered to take the fall and spare the sons. I’m sure all three have been busy hiding money hither and yon and waited until the right time to ‘come clean.’

HE HE agreed….But I don’t think they are Italian
and dad kept a pretty secret business.

My Great grandfather was a bootlegger in the 20’s.
Every couple weeks my two younger great uncles used to have to tuck point and paint the wall in the basement. They thought there father was crazy, he said he was teaching them to be brick layers(later they both owned concrete companies)

The older brother my actual Grandfather used to count the money for the family break the wall put it in the safe within the wall and reset the bricks and put them back in place. The younger brothers never knew what was behind that wall
until they moved out and had families of there own. So Elsa, I don’t know what to tell you.

I think the kids turned dad in because it would be easier then a court fight and they had
as the govenor of IL puts it “nothing left to lose”

Hm. After hearing more of the story (I didn’t read the article! hehe), I would definitely have turned daddy in.
I think the sons at least suspected something if they didn’t know outright.

Bernard Madoff: ‘It’s All Just One Big Lie’

I read every article in the NY Times about it this a.m. Big emphasis on just family working there.

Again, I find my self on this blog, for the 3rd time in 3 months saying? Where are the regulators? HELLO, SEC????? This guy was investigated.

Who is really minding the store here?

I don’t believe at all that ‘the kids ‘ didn’t know about it. It’s impossible that only one person could be behind that volume of transactions because the trading, the custodial work (record keeping), auditing, were all under that his auspices. He had to have help. It’s physically impossible for one person to cover the paper trail let alone the other stuff even if he worked 24 hours a day.

In so far as investors, I have seen people do the stupidest things to get an extra 1/4 percent. They close their eyes to everything as long as they are making money. They want to believe everything will be okay despite what they see

Ninety percent of the time, people spend 10 times more researching the hotel where they will spend a long weekend than do the due diligence on their investments.

Sometimes I’ve tried to advise people against doing something b/c it just didn’t make sense when you connected the dots. People do a complete disconnect with the hard realities of money. Just like everyone thinks they will retire at 65 but the average 401 k balance at age 50 is $50,000. Where do they think this 2 million dollars they need is coming from for the 20 years they will spend in ‘retirement’.

It should be obvious that based on the kind of investments he held, there was no way they could generate that return.

So I guess the SEC, the hedge funds, the charities, all of these really smart people closed their eyes too.

PS - Even Bialystock need Bloom to perpetrate the fraud. I rest my case.

An true Italian would never give his money to a hedge fund.

Its patently obvious that the whole bunch (Madoff family and employees) were in on the scam. Yes the final scam is “let’s have dad take the fall, he’s old they can’t do a lot to him… and then Bernie will pull a “Chin” Galante … i.e. blubbering and wearing adult diapers in court to make everyone think he’s an old fool….
