Voice Of Mars On The Unit And The Can Of Pam
Astrology in real life
There is a series called The Unit
, it is supposed to portray the Special Forces. I don’t watch TV but HQ sent me the first season in DVD and I enjoyed watching quite tremendously for a variety of reasons. I got the 2nd season on my own and now I have third.
The soldier has not been interested in watching any of these episode although he knows the guy who acts as adviser to the show and I have absolutely seem some of his missions dramatized although they have been wildly altered. In other words it is real.. sort of but the “sort of” part is getting bigger, the “real” part shrinking as each season is produced. (swearing below the break)
Now I did see about 20 minutes of one of these episodes a couple years ago when we met on the road. The soldier was sort of disturbed… told me recently he did not want to watch because it was like being a mechanic and watching someone on TV fix a car… wrong. But then yesterday out of the blue sky he decided to watch a few episodes and the result was hilarious. He talked non-stop see…
First show of the season the head guy (Jonas) is with some CIA gal with one of those bad surgery faces that scare the living shit out of me. So I was disturbed for my reasons, the soldier off in a completely different space. Jonas and the girl with jagged edge big-to-the-point-of-comedy lips got caught in some apartment with a bad guy.
Positioned behind the bad guy, he had his back turned, the SF for some reason is unable to shoot this guy which drives the soldier around the bend. “I’d have dropped that motherfucker, shot him right in the head! Why didn’t he shoot him, P? Why? Why didn’t he shoot the motherfucker, he had a month to do it. A whole month!”
He referring to the time it took the guy to turn around which frankly… well if you wanted to shoot the guy fact is there would have been plenty of time.
“But nooooooooo,” the soldier said as the bad guy was now outside the apartment shooting up the complex and civilians. “You can’t just shoot the motherfucker and now look at him.”
“What’s he doing?” I asked to encourage him.
“He’s makin’ a racket!” he said watching the guy shoot around wildly - an automatic weapon. “Look at that bastard and all the noise he’s making. Why, P, why? They had the situation was contained. Shoot the guy in the apartment when you have a month you had to do and they’d be done, but nooooooooo. He’s got to shoot the Pam can!”
They had shot a can of Pam in the apartment which made a fizz so it was hard to see.
“Yeah,” I said. “How could he could hit a can a Pam but not the man-sized target with his back turned?’
“P, you got me. They want to use all these sneaky pete tricks I guess. That’s what this is about. They’re going to be all sneaky pete, well that’s not how I operate. I’d have killed the guy dead as a doornail. They didn’t and now he’s out there shooting people… he’s shooting civilians…”

I would have fired a few rounds into the bad guy’s rear end, grabbed his gun after he fell, put my boot on bad guy’s vocal chords, then bellowed like a bad ass so the still conscious bad guy knew who was king of the jungle. Then, for good measure and flair I would have beaned the Pam Can. Not terribly efficient, but the drama, the drama! Mars in Leo here.
I’m the same way goddess.
I still think the Unit is a well-written show, though I guess inaccurate. ![]()
You guys might like a show from England called MI-5. The first few seasons were riveting. It’s way’y better than the Unit. I think it aired in NA on HBO.
I watched this show and found it to be a lot more realistic than ‘Military Wives’ in terms of what it was like to be both a Veteran, and married to a veteran, both at the same time.
Don’t forget to buy your TV seasons & movies thru Amazon thru Elsa so she can get a helping hand she so deserves!

Efficient enough to mostly not watch that sort of thing (or TV in general), but when I do, I watch either NCIS or numb3rs. Actually I suspect the soldier would like numb3rs and NCIS, at least better than the Unit, which I found damned annoying for some reason.
For your BBC stuff, I really liked what I saw of Red Cap.

I had to skip read this Elsa, we have the first episode of this series wednesday night. I have been a regular viewer of the Unit and convinced a few others to watch, even with its later time slot.
I agree that the reality factor is being squeezed for tv action and plots. I like the way the gals sort of have their own missions while the guys are away. I cant help but think there is a paralell to the American family Unit being sold with all of its challenge, proactiveness, ethical values and philosophical meanings. Not bad if thats what it does. I just like the boys and girls pulling off missions with expertise!

What season is it on? I need to get the new season. I have seen them all before. As a vet I just love the show.
Right now I am trying to string out my last CD of the L Word. I joined the L word fan club on Facebook and it was entertaining to take the quizzes. Quiz results for me: The person I am most like is ‘Alice.’ The person I am most likely to have sex with is…(this was a big surprise to me)….Jenny.
Thank you guys for being here tonight and no one is yelling at me personally because everyone else seems to be and y’all are my comfort zone tonight, elsa blog is my tofu soup for the soul tonight.

it’s hard watching people do your job wrong on tv or in the movies.
i remember watching “the net” even way before i started working on the net, it was still painful to watch. i was a noob and still knew it was all wrong….sandra bullock kept “the net” on a floppy disk she carried around in her bag. it was an animation that opened a chat room. that was “the internet.” on her floppy disk. aggghhh.
