Astrology Today - Moon In Leo And Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
My eye on the sky
The Moon leaves Cancer for Leo this morning, trining Venus in Sagittarius in the process. People will be more upbeat and less controlling during this short respite from security fears that plague most people these days.
If you’re struggling, the Moon in Leo responds dramatically (the only way Leo knows how) to sunlight so try to get some. You’ll be amazed at how much difference a few rays can make and if you’re in circumstances where this is not possible… well it’s that time of year (in the US).
Astrology and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Is Leo Predisposed?
I have trotted out my SAD light for the season and the soldier (who craves the desert) likes it as much as I do. He calls it my “Happy Light” which is actually a much better name.
In whatever case, I’m telling you it is very hard to feel “low” with that thing shining on you and tricks like this are good to know.
Does your mood drop in the fall / winter? Do you have Leo in your chart?

It crashes. November and March/early April are the worst, probably because they’re when I transition. My north node is in leo. This year I’m trying Vitamin D.
Saturn in Leo… I need to get a happy light this year. (I’ve been calling them by that name for a couple years now!) I get ridiculously depressed every freakin’ winter.
Mars and Uranus in Leo. The longer I go without sunlight, the more I feel stifled. Shut down. Yech. Thanks for the reminder about the light. This year I’m getting one for sure!
Mars and Saturn in Leo. I hate cold weather, so yes.
Too bad SAD lights would give me a damn glare headache (I have astigmatism, so most lights get to me really).
I’m a 5th house stellium and I love winter… Must be all the Saturn influences in my chart.
I am from a tropical island, so i was raised in the sun. My Mars in Leo in the fifth house was charged and active, and at full power. My first winter in Europe was devastating… i really went under! Now i moved to a The mediterranean city… with sunny winters!
No! This is actually my favorite time of year…I’m a Leo Sun, but I have Moon and Jupiter in Libra.
Cold weather does not bother me as long as the sun is shining. I just start up the wood-burning fireplace.
Great site Elsa. I have Ascendent, Mercury and Venus in Leo. I love the winter up until Christmas, then I start to get the blues until Spring peeks through the grey days once more. I have Moon in Scorpio and Mars in Libra - so maybe that’s why I’m okay for the first half…
Oh my gosh….my mood drops dramatically!! I need sun like I need air. Sun in Leo ![]()
But then again, my mood is always changing (Mars in Cancer!)
Wow, I never consider the relation.. I definitely get down when the days get too short, by the time it’s getting dark by 5, i am just so blah. I like the cold, but I need some light for sure. Lots of Leo in my chart, interesting. I wonder if you could get some full-spectrum bulbs and it would work in a similar way?
I went to check on weather patterns, and, wouldn’t you know it, we get the most sun in my favorite season — fall! *lol*
Leo sun and Merc, and I absolutely notice a difference. I haven’t thought about the lights, though, because 1) the cost and 2) I’m not sure mine’s bad enough to justify it.

Yes it does, but it has taken me this long to see the astrology! I used to work outside full-time which made it a non-issue but this is no longer the case and I dream about my ‘escape’ constantly.
This time of year the Libra/Scorpio make hard aspects to my Moon, and then Sun and other personal planets.
Thanks for reminding me: I’m going to put on the sunscreen after I bathe and hit the tanning salon for my $5 heroin-like fix. I try to go once a week and yes it lifts my mood.
