The Soldier and P: Photographs And Memories

Astrology in real life

croce.jpgIt’s nice so many could understand my story about the stripe. I’m never sure what is going to come across but since it seems to have been conveyed, I’ll tell you some more.

First, in my defense I was 17 when I sewed that stripe - stripes because I sewed one on each sleeve. Seeing as I was from the desert… well I’d only seen one soldier in my life before I met the soldier so he was really an oddity to me.  It’s not like I was around the military - I was not. I was out in the desert, remember? Without a TV.

On top of that, as I recall those stripes are embroidered and I think I recall a star visible on both sides. There is the front of the star and backside of the star and apparently I just guessed wrong. (He says there is blue on the backside.. it’s the white star that is supposed show… who knew?)

Now I will say the sleeve looks ridiculous in the picture.  It is obvious there is something dreadfully wrong (once someone tells you there is something dreadfully wrong) however there is something else interesting about that picture.

Pictures are Neptunian… Neptune obscures. So the soldier showed me the stripe in the picture and then I showed him something he couldn’t see.

He’s sitting there on the floor feeding his kid They are at his parents house and next to him sits one of his “antennas”. Yeah. You know I’ve mentioned he uses a device and there it is sitting on floor next to them.

“I see you got your ….,” I said.

“What?”  He was surprised.  He took the picture from my hand, glanced at it and blushed. “Oh well, P, you know I always have that thing. I’ve been doing that since I was 6 years old…”

So there you go.  Someone snapped that pic and it just sort of “proves” us if you know what I mean.  Everything in it is what you call, inarguable.

People don’t think we’re real. It happens to me and it happens him.   But someone sewed that stripe on upside down. And someone is wearing it… a shirt with one upside down stripe even though they now have 3 stripes and there must be a reason.

Then I come on here and say the man is psychic… he told me all about this 30 years ago, and he tells me the same story now. Now we’ve not a picture…he’s just sitting there, casual and relaxed and surrounded by evidence because as a matter of fact we’re actual people and this is our story.

And one more thing:

This is Jim Croce singing, “Photographs and Memories”.  In another oddity, this was the soldier’s first album of his life. It was my first as well (I had the cassette tape when I was still lived in the desert. It was the only tape I had and I listened to it a million times. Maybe a million and a half times.

We believe (with our dual Venus Neptuneness) that we were already syncing up at this time. It’s like watching Sound Of Music when we were even younger. We think we were syncing up then too. Neptune. We were already together, just not yet.

I think life is full of beauty and nuance like this and the more you look the more you see. The other thing is for Godsakes, take pictures!

Wow. ‘We were already together, just not yet.’

That’s so romantic and so real. I just loved this story. Things were already lining up for you guys and no matter what happened, YOU were supposed to happen for each other. Wow.

I am really enjoying the series on the Saturn return of a relationship. I could stand to read more. My husband and I have been married 28 1/2 years. So you can see my interest. I’ve been looking at the charts and seeing things in retrospect.

We were co-workers for several years before we became a couple. In the “start to work together” chart, Saturn was in a Leo inconjunct transit to our Capricorn conjunction (my Sun, his Moon). A trigger of sorts.

This morning the TV news had a story about work spouses, which are people that get emotional support from co-workers instead of their real spouses. I joked to my husband, that we’d been work spouses that took it seriously [Cap] and got married.

I sincerely hope you two have the next entire Saturn cycle together.

Im fascinated with pictures & hubby just doesnt get it. As Ive told him more than once - its like going back in time - only you have the ability to sit & figure things out from that snippet. Facial expression, body language… things you probably missed in real time.

it’s fascinating to study the stories that make up a person and how they manage to intersect…

Pictures are so deceptive to me. Photos of real life always throw me for a loop, they are missing details or distorted somehow. I look like a different person in each picture. Same thing happens when I take photographs of other people, they look totally unlike the actual experience! It’s kind of weird, like the camera flattens and distorts the memory. I like to take “pictures” with my mind, that way when I flip through all the memories, they are exactly the way they were when I took them :)

Of course, they are Neptunian. figures

I love these stories..especially the idea of the two of you ’syncing up.’ And I love that you have these markers that seem to elucidate your love for each other over a Saturn cycle!

AnaBanana I suffer the same. Sometimes I’m even shocked by my own reflection and I’ve been told I look very different (my face–my clothes) from day to day. Moon in the 1st, Neptune in the 12th.

Personally I remember things better if I don’t have a picture, I think because my emotional memories are imprinted in the way some people’s visual memories do. I’ve done a lot of traveling overseas and while I can remember every single day of a 6 week trip I made without a camera (it was stolen), I look at other pictures and don’t even recognize MYSELF in them. Sometimes it can take about half an hour for me to figure out where something is based on a photograph.

When I was 11 or 12 I started to hate the way I look in photographs, and have avoided having my picture taken ever since.

Since I mostly don’t have old pictures to look at, I just reread my diary. I don’t remember anything if I haven’t written it down.

    That’s interesting, AnaBanana and kash!
I’m the same way. Taking pictures also diminishes the experience for me; I prefer to be sans camera as much as possible for that reason. How many times have you been looking through some photos with a friend or acquaintance and hear, “I don’t remember what this is,” or “I’m not sure why I took this picture?”

On the other hand, though, I’m a tad envious of people that have extensive, meaningful photo collections and can tell you allll about them. I can tell the story, you see, but I have no “proof,” no “oomph” and those people do.
