cold-war.jpgConcerning Russia it occurred to me tonight, we are approaching the Saturn return of the cold war and look at the news. Back when we were kids, the soldier’s job was as front and center as you could possibly get on that and to see a conflict cropping up again is… well it’s history repeating just like our history is repeating but how to parse that is anyone’s guess.

It gives me serious doubts the soldier and will go peacefully into our old age, I’ll say that.

Is it not the second Saturn return of the Cold War?

(Since my mother had her second Saturn return in 2007, and she was born in ‘48.)

I don’t know much about second SRs..Is the philosophy that the lessons that weren’t “successfully” incorporated are re-learned through new experience? Or the lessons that WERE learned get called upon to help with new experiences?

I wonder what everyone else thinks. Also I don’t know much about world events of late 70s early 80s. I have more knowledge of World War II than the Cold War. I was obsessed with World War II when I was a teenager.

Diana - the soldier joined the military when he was 17, he’s been in the the Air Force, the Marines, The Army (Rangers and Special Forces). I met in towards the end of the cold war, he had a top secret clearance then - he wound up in SF so most of his career is classified.
