Astrology Quotes: Virgo In Their Own Words

Virgo In Their Own Words…

Virgo the Virgin is known for their fine mind, and their focus on health and helping. Their work is a priority and they tend to shun the limelight unless their job requires otherwise. Virgos are perfectionists, with a tendency to nitpick.

salma hayekWhen I first came to Hollywood I was told to go out with an agent because it was good for my career. So I went to a party with him because it was good for my ‘career.’ Well, he thought the whole thing was a big date. Needless to say, I was very upset.”

Not quite modern but, Queen Elizabeth I:
‘Better beggar woman and single than Queen and married”

“It would please me best if, at the last, a marble stone shall record that this Queen having lived such and such a time, lived and died a virgin.”

I’m reading some historical fiction right now, so she came to mind.

Beautiful blog Elsa. I’m just putting mine back together after a server mishap (a disaster still picking up the pieces:). Just looking around at some of the other cosmic blogs in the psychic neighborhood. I must say yours is among some of the best… Keep up the good work!

    Ani DiFranco:

maybe you don’t like your job
maybe you didn’t get enough sleep
    well, nobody likes their job
    nobody got enough sleep
    maybe you just had
the worst day of your life
but, you know, there’s no escape
    and there’s no excuse
so just suck up and be nice

William Carlos Williams (poet AND doctor haha) :

    Nanucket

    Flowers through the window
    lavender and yellow

    changed by white curtains-
    Smell of cleanliness-

    Sunshine of late afternoon-
    On the glass tray

    a glass pitcher, the tumbler
    turned down, by which

a key is lying- And the
    immaculate white bed

    Stephen King:

When asked, “How do you write?” I invariably answer, “one word at a time.”

    Agatha Cristie:

“The best time to plan a book is while you’re doing the dishes.”

One of the most interesting ways in which I observed astrology in academia was when I took a 19th philosophy class last semester. We started with careful, deliberate Tauran Kant and moved on the Virgo Hegel.

“If you want to love you must serve, if you want freedom you must die.”

“Only one man ever understood me, and he didn’t understand me.”

It was so funny to go to Marx after that. Such an Aries. “Fuck you!!!”, all his works screamed. So much angry compared to the Taurans and Librans (Nietzsche couldn’t make up his mind to save his life) who preceded and followed him. Anyway, that’s just my high-falutin’ academic observations.

Hugh Grant is another Virgo who I love for his wryness and self-criticalness.

“Basically, my life is so boring, it’s embarrassing.”

“Well, you know I have an office, my film offices. So I know that syndrome. I fancy offices, so there must be something wrong with me. Even the window cleaner intrigues me. It’s a very sexy environment. ”

“I don’t think there’s much point in putting me a deep, dark, heavy, emotional film because there are people who do it so much better than I do.”

River Phoenix wouldn’t eat a hamburger but he sure didn’t mind taking bad drugs! Sheesh. I used to use him as an example for my son when he lived in L.A.

“If your friend is laying on the cement or under the table or in the bathroom and he’s not breathing, what do you do?” “CALL HIM AN AMBULANCE!” “NOW!”

More about philosophers: Libra Heidegger’s philosophy is the only one ever to fall right into place for me. His Sun is on my Mercury:)
(The Nazis removed him from the position of rector of the University of Freiburg - one of the reasons being that he wanted rule by philosophers! He had several planets in Libra. Astrotheme has the chart).

  12. isthmus says on 8/24/08 at 9:05 pm:

LOL Little Miss Hermit, maybe that explains why my Libra-heavy philosopher friends are so into Heidegger. I have great synastry with Jung, everything you would want in a serious relationship. His ideas clicked so well w/me when I was a teen and I was into everything Jung. Now I tend to dislike most Jungian texts save the man’s primary texts.

But back to Virgo… Some quotes from a very atypical Virgo, Fiona Apple:

“I have a very steadfast tendency to parent myself, to monitor my development into the person I want to be. I’ve tried to keep the corruption minimal.”

“I really don’t think anything I do is a mistake. It could be if I didn’t learn from it.”

  13. Matthew Currie says on 8/25/08 at 8:27 am:

Aimee Mann, a Virgo, describing the sound of Virgo neuroticism:

But I can’t confront the doubts I have
I can’t admit that maybe the past was bad
And so, for the sake of momentum
I’m condemning the future to death
So it can match the past…

  14. andro says on 8/25/08 at 9:54 am:

I don’t know if the Fiona Apple quotes are atypical. I’m very much a Virgo and that sounds.. a lot, like me. Even if an experience sucked, if you learn from it… then it was worthwhile.
