Calling All Astrology Bloggers: Update On The New Astro News
Outtakes and Various other sundries
Great news (especially for me) on the new Astro News. We found a way to get all the feeds to work which is a great relief because I have been trying to keep up adding them manually like some kind of crazed gerbil. I am loading the feeds now and should have everyone in there by tomorrow so if you are posting and now having your headline show up near the end of the week, please email and let me know.
Now many of you know the Top 10 Astrology News came back up unexpectedly, the same way it went down. I am greatly relieved because it represents and ungodly amount of work over the last 2 years. So it is going to be there (as far as I know) but will be morphing into a collection of astrology blog headlines where the Astro News will be what Top 10 was… a very robust and often updated source of astrology-themed content from all over the web courtesy this gerbil, Elsa P.
Now one of the nicest improvements on the new site is that it is fast. If you post, the headline is going to show up in less than 15 minutes which is good for fast breaking news. I am happy to say we have already been picked up by Google News as a source so this is pretty impressive.
I also think most if not all of the blogs that use pictures in their posts will have pictures on the Astro News which was a problem with the Top 10. If your feed does not come through with pictures, give me a few days to let me make sure I have everyone loaded and then please email me and I will see what I can do because I have options now I did not have then.
Last, the stuff on the right of the page than belongs on my blog not the News (like the comments) will be coming down shortly… in other words getting the feeds working was the priority and with this resolved we will tackle this other stuff so please watch for progress.

At present I have both widgets in my sidebar - I’ll leave ‘em both up for a while, but when things settle with the new one, I’ll probably reduce to just yours.

by the way, I got some feedback that archives on the new News were not accessible but they are. You only have to click the date to see everything loaded on that date. Not as easy to navigate as the top 10 (yet) but the function is available and we are going to work on improving it.
Really, building one of these and working all the bugs out is not all that easy. HQ and his brother have been working like crazy and it just takes time to put something like this together but we have a big advantage in that my blog has a google rank of 5 so we get right up there in the search and I think this is going to come out well with a little time and patience (Saturn, LOL)
Got this fixed on my site. I had to regenerate the code, so if anyone else has problems with “feed not available”, you might try that. Runs like a champ now for me.
HI__I enjoy TOP TEN AND HOPE TO ALSO ENJOY ASTRO NEWS.. of course, being included in the feeds, the top ten,etc. is totally cool and has increased my readership– will I automatically be picked up by Astro News?? The time and effort you devote to all of us out here in the blog world is awesome.. THANK YOU ELSA!!!!!

The Astro News widget is working great on my blog! I like seeing the images coming up in the feed too for everyone, not just some. And I like the way a nice big new window opens when you click on a link.

on an update, still having trouble with a couple feeds and surely missing a few so again, give me a couple days and if you see problems email and I will try to work it out. It makes a big difference being able to get behind the scenes and tinker. I am pretty sure I can get pictures on alllllll feeds on the new system eventually.
