Astrology, News And Publishing Post Pluto’s Transit Of Sagittarius
Astrology in real life
This morning I updated the soldier on the news around Obama’s choice for Vice President. As I mentioned, we both think the choice of VP is going to be critical in the election.
“Hilary does not seem to be on the screen at all,” I said. “As to what is being reported.”
“Hmm.”
“Thing is, we really have no idea what is going on. They do not report in actual news. The job is to put something up there that provokes people, and whether or not it’s based in reality is irrelevant. Just churn something out and next day, do it again. It’s come to a point where it’s pointless to read the news, it’s pretty much meaningless.”
“It’s as bad here as it has been in the UK and their press is notorious…”
This is where I think we are post Pluto’s rout through journalism (Sagittarius). There is no way to get real news at the moment. There is no standard, ethics or any other damned thing.
Do you agree or no? Is there a news source you trust? (And by the way, who is your pick for VP to Obama?)

but.. trust the news?
no. even if i can count on someone to have good coverage with accurate info, there’s always a slant. that’s one of the first things i learned when i worked in a newspaper- there’s too much news to fit so the filtering reflects the bias of the reporter. which is always there- we’re obligated to choose.
I listen to NPR, and go to the bbc websites…also try listening to others if I can.
i have gotten a lot more cynical over the last year about news reports. my hubby is a total news hound and gets a lot of his info online, which then gets compared to what we see, and it’s insane sometimes, the difference.
On Obama’s VP pick, the wise choice would be Hillary. I think that would pretty much guarentee him the presidency. I don’t think he’s going to choose her, though.
I work in the news business, but am also an avid news junkie, and I struggle with the limitations of the industry a lot. As a consumer I can tell you, that I never ever trust one report at the exclusion of other sources of information. And I tell folks all the time, that if I’m doing my job in any meaningful way, I’ll inspire them to turn to other sources for information, call their elected representatives, check the newspaper, talk to their neighbors, go on line and see what’s happening in the world, protest, etc. News really is about relationship and active engagement. How else to arrive at the truth? A lot of people do not grasp this, and I fear the consequences…
From an astrological standpoint, I can tell you my struggle with my own purpose, meaning and effectiveness in this industry has been a roller coaster ride as Pluto has squared my sun for what seems like forever..
Oh yeah— I sure do wish Obama would pick Clinton as a running mate, but I too do not see this happening. I would love to see a woman in the White House, but only a woman who inspires…
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if McCain picked a woman? Who would that be?
He’d better pick good because from the astrology I get on the interwibble he won’t be lasting the term. I am not overly thrilled with him (see voting record) and so yes, Hillary would be a good pick for him. The other choices don’t do much to reassure me.
He’ll pick someone that balances him out…I’m saying that as we have the same birthdate (diff years) and our charts are fairly similar so I get him (LOL-kidding). He does have a good head on his shoulders…I’m guessing his decision will be weighted with all sides accounted for. He won’t be able to make everyone happy - who can?
My life is better when I do not watch the news around election times. I have a very sensitive nature and it gets me all wound up. Interesting though, I stopped by mom’s tonight (she’s a right winger)..anyway, I can kind of gauge the Republican reaction by her sometimes. First she was all like “Obamas OK, and etc etc.” then all of a sudden tonight she has declared him “insane.” I did not even bother to ask her why she thinks that, she listens to right wing radio and news, and, quite frankly, I think she just takes on the opinions of the speakers that she listens to. Anyway, it was weird tonight. I have no freakin idea what’s goin on, and all is good. (you notice, Elsa, I did NOT say “It’s all good,” lol, you broke me of that one ![]()
“Elsa, I did NOT say “It’s all good,” lol, you broke me of that one”
Yeah and you should thank me because MF’s tell me everyday what I NEEEEEEEED to do having no idea I think they’re brain damaged.
Loon, I am ahead of the curve on this one. It’s like when the current hot color combo shows up in Wal-Mart. means it’s OVER!
I tend to parse the news to see what has not been said. Sometimes the truth is written in between the lines. Most TV news is bunk. A variety of sources is good, but it is not ‘all good’ hahahaha! How about the saying ‘there are no mistakes’ FCOL there are some pretty freaking big mistakes!
My mailman told me today that he thinks Obama should pick Hillary as VP because potential racist nutjobs would be disinclined to do something horrific, since that would therefore leave a woman in charge.
Eek.
I think appointing Hillary Clinton as VP would be a terrible idea. People hate her and they reeeeaaaally hate her, and while I think she would be just fine as a VP, I do not think she is electable.
I am reminded of this one article I read where men were asked what they thought of Hillary Clinton, and most often the author got comments like “She has gigantic thighs.” I mean, what do her thighs have to do with her political career?
That said I would like to do a number of nasty things to those stupid people who say they will vote for McCain just because Clinton didn’t get the nomination.
N E W S = Nothing Except What Sells. I trust nothing coming from major media, period. It is emotional mind control to get us to react and feel helpless so we give our power over to others. Agree with Elsa, the next day they always come up with more hooks for unsuspecting fish to bite on. Our group skips national news because we know we have NO effect on anything it spews; we concentrate on local issues where we actually have some say.
PS. the next national leader has already been S-elected, the pomp and circumstance are all show.

not broadcast news. but i get a changing mishmash of feeds via the web/email. filtering for depth of content and breadth of coverage. and usage of my time. get some good international news from IPS (interpress service: ipsnews.net) and random tech stuff from boing boing and scientific american and… well, a mishmash.
and i never have enough time so if i don’t miss something when life catches me up and i go for a week without reading my stuff, i cancel the feed….
and local news is only good for local info, generally. except sometimes the AAN weeklies (aan.org) have some good news of wider breadth. but they tend to focus local for their large pieces, with periodic exceptions.
