Meet New Astrology Blogger, Jeremy Of Chirotic Journal

Outtakes and various other sundries

clint eastwoodNew on the astrology blogging scene is first rate writer and astrologer, Jeremy of Chirotic.com

Here is his latest: Peregrine Mercury through the Zodiac

He covers all the Mercury signs. Here is a sample start for Mercury in Taurus. Jeremy writes:

“Now, let us consider Mercury in Taurus. Here I have two people with incredible power to deliver a deadpan line, and send a chill down your spine while they do it: Clint Eastwood and my mother in law. No, I really am not kidding, both Clint (high-plains drifter, Dirty Harry and Man with no name) and my wife’s mother share this peculiar “argue and I’ll blow your brains out” manner of stating an opinion and in a direct face-off, my money’s definitely not on Clint…”

Wow, this man is brilliant, and so articulate thanks much for this link, Elsa! I have only read the first page of his blog, and I feel as if I’ve taken a semester long advanced astrology course. He ties things together in the most stimulating, profound, and original way. What he had to say about peregrine Scorpio moon, wow wow, I don’t have it, but I got a glimpse of what that must feel like.

And re: Mercury placement in Taurus, no wonder my sister and I just cannot seem to find a way to deal with each other. We both have it. Two people expressing this implied, “Argue and I’ll blow your brains out,” approach well. It’s a tecipe for disaster, (although in neither chart is it peregrine or cazimi). My mother has it too, but it is tightly conjunct Venus, which makes her a little bit more likely to experss her opinions in a polite, and even often charming, manner.

Something he said is one of the things I always look at first in any chart I see, he says, “the closest aspect is always telling.” Yes, very.

This is one of the most astrologically (and in all ways)sophisticated writers I’ve ever read and the way he conceptualizes and expresses astrological constructs is utterly fascinating. He’s brand new to me, and already I can say that our field is very lucky to have him.

I have peregrine Mercury in Virgo right on the Astrologer’s Point of 11 Virgo. Interesting.

Over the years, a lot of people thought I was a Virgo Sun instead of a Leo Sun, because that Mercury really runs away with me. They’ve said that I presented myself so precisely, dryly, and clipped, that they would have never guessed Leo.

I never knock this Mercury–I’ve always placed a premium on smarts, and I’m glad I have them, even if they are more of the book-smart type. ;)

He is very entertaining to read. Both my husband and daughter have the illusive Mercury in Aquarius. And my son has Mercury in Pisces and I’m having a good chuckle imagining him as MC Hammer. I have Mercury in Capricorn and I agree with the short, to the pointedness of James Dean (but only after all the facts are in).

*blink* I have Merc in Taurus.

*snicker* Okay, well, that explains some things.

Loved that MC Hammer song, could listen to it all day. This is nice on Merc in Pisces, usually it does not get such a good rep.

didn’t know anything about peregrine planets (though i had heard the term). i thought it was a matter of just dignity, and unaspected planets were just called unaspected.

  7. Foxxy says on 7/2/08 at 7:14 am:

How do you tell if you have a peregrine planet? Mercury definitely isn’t mine Ha!

  8. wyrdling says on 7/2/08 at 11:09 am:

hah! i thought that was the uranus opposition that made me hit people so hard when i actually let fly.
    er. rightie.
    (mercury in taurus here.)

i have to go read that… later ;)

Elsa, I’ve been Googling Peregrine, but I’m still not sure I understand it. How does a person tell? Does it just mean un-aspected?

And just out of curiosity, is it indicated in an ephemeris (as in a special symbol)?

  11. Snapdragon says on 7/2/08 at 1:45 pm:

thanks Elsa, looks like I don’t have any peregrine planets. I guess that’s maybe a good thing?

  12. Becca says on 7/2/08 at 2:02 pm:

Elsa, thanks for the link. This whole discussion has gone right over my head.

  13. Loonsounds says on 7/3/08 at 9:47 am:

I wouldn’t worry about that, Becca. I would say his blog is along the lines of advanced astrology, and if you keep loving astrology, it will all come together with lots and lots of hours put in to study.
