Mercury In Your Natal Chart: What’s It Got To Say?
Ask the collective
With the Sun, Venus and Mercury in Mercury ruled Gemini, I got to thinking…Â ::smiles:: that’s a joke.
But I did get to thinking about my thinking and my pompous thought was this:
There is no end to the things I know.
That statement is textbook for a Mercury in the 9th house (inflated / expansive) but then I had this thought:
There is also no end to the things I do not know.
::smiles::
How’s that for Libra? Both sides, bay-bee!
Yeah, I have Mercury in Libra in the 9th house and that right there is my statement.
What does your Mercury have to say about itself?

My Mercury is in my 10th in Capricorn, it tells people I’m very selective about what I say and perhaps that I’m a communicator nonetheless. I’m not sure yet.
In equal housing system, it does fall on my 9th house though, so there’s also no end for the things I know and don’t know…
My Cap Merc conj Desc trine Pluto in the 3rd says: “I can be TERRIBLY convincing (or destructive) when I speak one-to-one…”
An ex used to describe my gaze/intention as a laser beam, right into the mind and soul of its object.
Mercury is sag. so it has no problem with saying what it want when it want to. This has gotten me into some troublesome situations in the past, but it seems to be less of an issue now. Neptune is also in the third house, gemini rules third house, in sag… this gal would prefer an unusaul ramblin’… conversation, but needs to learn how to edit and control information so it is presentable, or should i say understandable…to..
“You wanna know the bottom line on that?” Merc in Cap (2nd) trine Pluto in Virgo (9th)=knows the true value of just about anything.
Having scurried off to check my chart once again: Scorp Merc and Scorp Neptune in the 3rd; also Gemini on 10th house cusp. I could be off in my interpretation but it seems like a prickly reminder that I should spend more time on my writing. (Although I’ve been a translator for many years, and I think that counts. It’s just a secondary way of communicating, though, not a primary one, and I need to make that switch since it’s always well received.)
Thanks for the food for thought and the nudge, Elsa. ![]()
My Mercury conjunct Pluto says I know all your secrets… or I will find out one way or the other. ![]()
Nothing. It sings and cries, it doesn’t talk. Pisces Merc.
yup, Charlotte me too… in the seventh house. if I love somebody they shouldn’t pay as much attention to what I say as to what music I play for them. even then, the lyrics might say, “I cut off his head and slung it in a ditch” but the bittersweet melody says, “mmmm, baby, you’re the only one for me!” clear as mud. and I cry all the fucking time, but that doesn’t mean I’m unhappy about it.
uh oh, my comment went in the filter. it prolly had too many cusses. or my pisces merc missive got sucked into another dimension.
It says, ‘I can see your point of view’ Mercury in Libra
merc. sun conj. 4th house. i try to state my point clearly, but I am frequently misunderstood.
Mercury in Leo 10th house-
I think too much, about deep contemplative stuff, all day, everyday.
“I’m talking, and it’d be in your best interest to listen”
haha.
Merc in sagg conjunct sun/mars/neptune/mc square saturn, moon, nn. In the 9th! I hold myself back, let it out, feel bad, feel better, so on and so forth. I talk too much, at the wrong times and feel constantly guilty and judged by it and (days like today) cry hard about it because I am ashamed). I feel I get too big for my britches, and have a reason to, but still shouldn’t, then maybe I don’t have a reason to!! Very conflicting feelings. (Pluto in Libra). I am rude without realizing it which is unforgivable to me,and when I am called on it I feel bad, apologize, and still feel bad about it and worthless forever.
Mercury conjunct Mars in Cap in the eighth house - get to the point quickly!
Concise speech but can be too critical.
Now transitted by Pluto - deep investigations that I can’t let go of.
i either talk too much or not enough
and the universe is brimming over with all sorts of fascinating things to discover…
My mercury is in Sagittarius, but only at 0.29. Does anyone have any theory on how much that counts? Should I consider it a cusp?
(Oh yeah, Spinner suggested Snapdragon, instead of Michele - less confusion)
P.S. Satori, I loved comment 11!
Let’s see, I have Mercury in Pisces 11th house,conjunct Mars/square Uranus/sextile Ascendant.
I think it says that I will disagree with anyone’s opinions as a natural instinct, and I usually think I know what I am talking about (well, except for now LOL)
Reading about Mercury in Pisces confuses me a bit, as I see myself as being very detached, though I think that lately I am REALLY starting to see how emotional I can be.
P.P.S. Loved this post Elsa! Verrrry funny!!
“Show me the money. Er, donuts. I mean, bed. Or make that bedroom.”
(Taurus Sun conjunct Mercury; opposed Scorpio MC conjunct Uranus)
Mercury in 7th house Gemini. I’ll talk day and night about people’s relationships. Endlessly. And actually, with quite a bit of insight.
Good morning Snapdragon! saggal- hope you are feeling better today!
My first time here and I’ll admit…I am really bad when it comes to figuring out what the aspects mean! But, I have Mercury in Cancer-8th house (squaring my moon and conjunct my sun)…my Mercury whines about why everybody has so much and I have nothing! And all I want to do is talk about how everyone feels…
I have the exact same config. as Kashmiri except for the MC conjunct Uranus. I have a tight Jupiter/Uranus trine going to the Saturn so I think it is more powerful than the Sun/Merc. The house where Saturn is is luckier than the house of Sun/Merc. I agree with everything Kashmiri said. My writing is strong and straight forward, but far from always popular. I could never run a blog as I don’t have the social graces (nothing but Neptune in Libra, 7th).
Loonsounds, yeah, I have social graces. Ha ha ha, I have fuckin’ decorum coming out my ears!
(But I do see what you mean)
I am a motherfucking hostess all right! When I tended bar I used to tell people who complained to “shut up and drink it!”
And on top of that, I was a teenager!
Kashmiri, I loved that comment, it was so funny!
Good morning….umm, good evening Spinner!
I just read up on Mercury and Venus in the 8th house. I am constantly surprised by how much my horoscope nails me!
Well, not the bad things of course :::smiling:::
My communictation skills are peccably flawed. Words come out half ass backwards Mercury square node, opposite neptune, in 12th house, I’m a gemini …… I have to do a lot of apologizing and clarifying which still doesn’t clear it.
Pisces Mercury in the 7th.
I speak well, but too often when with friends/ family, I transpose words (”spoonerisms,” I think it’s called) or just sub in a weird word out of nowhere. I once read that using spoonerisms is typical of Mercury in Pisces…(?)
2 major aspects: Pisces Mercury/ trine Jupiter in very early Sag, 3rd house (though it crosses the normal signs for a trine), & opposing my Virgo Ascendant. The 7th-to-1st houses opposition shows in my love of discussion/debate, clarifying issues, etc. - though obviously it sometimes irritates the hell out of people, too! (With my 7th house Mercury, my husband’s big on debate & discussion too - luckily for me!)
The other two aspects, neither of which I know about or understand at all: an exact quintile to Gemini Mars in the 9th, and an exact sesquiquadrate to my Leo Uranus in the 11th. Anyone who has an idea of what those two aspects mean? Any input is welcome as I’m clueless!
Pisces Mercury in 12th house
a friend of mine with cancer mercury in the 12th used to ask me:
How can general conversation mean so much more than general conversation?
beats me, but it so does.
There are sooo much things to think, learn, say and think again !
I am considarate straightforward person!(weird combination..but yes…that’s me)
I guess its the combination of Sagittarius-Pisces
Mercury/Saturn Sagi(9) square Mars in Pisces
Mercury in 9th house Cancer, trined by Scorpio Moon conjunct Uranus and Venus: “Come on over and park yourself on my big soft furniture and we’ll put some great music on and talk our heads off and I’ll helpl you feel better about yourself and your life and you will leave convinced you have no problems at all, or at least none you can’t handle with ease, plus I’ve got a big pot of soup and some warm bread and yummy wild peppermint tea I gathered myself and I’ll give you a big warm blanket to wrap up in and you’ll feel sooo much better . . . oh and hey bring your jammies and your toothbrush, you don’t even need to go home if your man’s being mean to you we’ll just hang out here and relax at the Peppermint Spa for Women Who Need A Break . . .”

God, I’ve got so many conflicting aspects to my Mercury it can’t figure out what it has to say. Mercury conjunct Sun and Saturn in the 5th House, square Cappy Moon, inconjunct Neptune. It’s my life’s work to figure this thing out!
