Astrology And Trends In Business: The Airline Industry Plus What Happens When You Lose Your Customer

Trends in the collective

hula_hoop.jpg“It’s going to go back to when only rich people can fly,” I told the soldier.  “Remember when it was like that?”  I had just read this article:
Continental becomes latest U.S. airline to cut service

Basically they are grounding planes, laying off employees and raising prices simultaneously.

“It will only stay that way so long,” he said. “And then it will go right back the way it was, just as soon as people quit flying and there are not enough rich people to sustain them.”

“I don’t know about that. Eventually yes but it may be a long time recovering. I don’t think it’s that easy to get your customer back once you lose them. People are funny with their habits. Once they change them, you’ve got a problem.”

He looked at me quizzically.

“I just had those two people raise their prices on me, remember? And I found other things to do. I quit buying in both cases and if they put their prices back down do you think I will start buying again? I won’t. I’ve moved on, I am doing something else now.”

He stared.

“Think of it this way: If the price of gas is too high and you’re forced to sell your SUV and get a smaller car and then the fuel prices go down, are you going to go back out and buy another SUV?”

“No you’re not but that was just a yuppie fad anyway. Like the hula hoop. People who actually need a 4 -wheel drive or a utility vehicle for their farm or their business…”

You get the idea? Pluto is winding up it’s transit in Sagittarius and I think air travel as we knew it is over. Saturn is in Virgo and people are going to be pressured to change their daily habits in a conservative direction. Bloatware is so over it ain’t even funny.

Have you made adjustments to your daily habits in the last 6 months?

In a big way! Actually, I’ve been working on cutting back, budgeting, getting to work since last August, but I have a stellium in Virgo, so perhaps I’m feeling extra pressure. I am making more lists, not just of what to buy, but where to save extra miles. Desperately wanting to escape, but realizing it just isn’t going to happen right now and trying to be patient and focused. (And so far so good…thanks Elsa ;-) )

Yes. I have taken a respite from spending on non-essentials. We spent a lot of money last year plus we have been invited to travel to Sicily, so spending on other things will take the back seat for awhile. I think that for me personally spending will resume when Pluto goes direct.

Several years back when my disposable income was a lot lower, I used to play a game with myself. Other than the regular bills and essential items like food, I would see how many days in a row I could go without buying anything. I think the record was about a fortnight.

Yes…I have a trip planned for next week to go overseas, and I can’t help but feel that I sorta got in under the wire…I got my ticket before all these airline changes started taking effect, and I feel like this will be my last big trip for a really long time.
As for daily changes..they started last year when I became single again but I have definitely tightened up even more in the last few months.

Whoa Spinner, isn’t that 10 full days? Amazing!

I just now realize that I made flight reservations during mercury retrograde, oh well! Better that than actually flying during merc rx, or so I hope ;-). I am thinking about moving to Arizona, in the Sedona area, or maybe Phoenix, so I am going to check it out in July.

I am also going to the blast in Oct in Sedona, partly because I like the vedic schedule this year (I am obsessed with both fields of astrology).

I was registered for the conference in Denver, UAC, but I changed my mind for some reason. I have never yet been to an astrology conference, so I decided I prefer the blast for my first. MY UAC refund is God knows where!!! Freakin’ merc rx.

Whatever the airlines do, I WILL find a way to keep flying, that’s all I know. I have to move around.

My own habits, yeah, a little, but I think it’s funny that my ex-husband, a Virgo non-believer who used to get SO pissed off at me when I would look at the planets to to plan our events, well.

When Saturn hit Virgo, I started receiving the entire contents of his basement all neatly packed into about 25 microwave sized shipping boxes.

He was always a rather tidy guy, and so I think it’s funny that he let all my stuff just hang in his basement (new domestic partner girlfriend of 5 years and all) from our divorce of 20 years ago. He just let slide…right until Saturn went into Virgo.

He wrote back to me after a while when I told him I was getting a bit overwhelmed, he goes, “Sorry, I got on a roll.” Yeah man, that’s for damn sure! It was kind of him, though, I think most people would toss it. God knows what he spent doing that.

Anyway, ninety eight percent of the stuff he sent ended up in trash or good will, so that is one compartment of my life that is…finished. I never realized I had left anything much there, and it triggered me a bit to see all these things from so long ago, and so much OF it (we were married in 1984, divorced in 2000).

But once I got rid of all that junk and crap (mostly papers and wow, some very strange choices in clothing), I have begun to feel a much more peaceful closure on that whole relationship! How unexpected! (He has cancer rising with Jupiter and the SN in the first house, he’s a pilot).

I’m not sure. Hahahahha. Mos to fmy books are second hand now (I’ve only bought two books new in recent memory - out of the last say 30-40 books) I’m definitely cooking more/eating out less, and drinking less alchol. But did I choose those things? not so sure.

Life is definitely a’changin

I know this might be a bit late in the month to comment on this, but just tonight I was speaking with my mom and told her that I felt like I was living in a world where I didn’t belong. I was the only one who was just cutting back like mad. I mean, none of my friends has to do this. In fact as a Sadge just coming out of Pluto, I feel like I’m the only one who has been through the wringer and everyone else is just business as usual. I am glad to hear I’m not alone. I find that there are a couple of astrology sites that match up with this same type of commentary. This is very interesting.

re: “Have you made adjustments to your daily habits in the last 6 months?”

I have always lived a frugal life so the economic ups and downs over the decades have affected me very little, including this current downturn. (I’m 50 and have been self-sufficient since 17.)

I also know how to live “royally” (like a queen) while frugally, so no changes are ever needed in my lifestyle when the economy (or my personal circumstances) tank.
