Claire-France Perez, Astrologer To The DC Madam Comments Regarding Her Case And Suicide
Outtakes and various other sundries
Astrologer, Claire-France Perez of ancientsky.com writes:
DC Madam: A Bloody Raw Deal
The DC Madame was our client.
Le Baraquel (a pseudonym) and I agreed to help out “pro bono” but had deep worries in working with this chart, and today’s reported suicide leaves us grieved, saddened for this dainty sort of person whose privacy mattered more than her reputation and life.
While Le Baraquel consulted her by Skype from Asia, I had her as a guest for dinner and a chart reading, and found her to have a head slightly in a fantasy-land, and I guess if you are waiting for the government to release your several millions in property holdings, you would stay in dreamland too, for as long as the situation was undecided.
Her trial was zoom-zoom fast, and even though the Senator from Louisiana offered his constituents an apology (but no share in the bordello, presumably) his association with the case was the only “big fish,” in a list that should have contained more. Big Names were surely hiding in the past.
These would be known only to the those who would actually do the digging research this sort of investigation would have required.
The article reports mildly, “Her trial concluded without revealing many new details about the service or its clients. Vitter was among possible witnesses, but did not take the stand.”
But several other things occurring in our 10-month acquaintanceship made my hair stand up on end, and this combination let me know she was in danger, not only by the hand of a possible murderer, but also because she was not as proactive on her own behalf as I would have liked.
Her case could have become more of a public matter, and the high-powered “Johns” of her clientele list (released to ABC News last summer, something I would not have advised, had she asked me) was perhaps too much research for the likes of Larry Flynt, who had offered his help. I imagine he needed more from her side, something perhaps somewhat incriminating, or deep, to enlighten his own investigators. I am just guessing here.
And like me, he was probably rebuffed. I had offered to manage her website, and investigate the case further, and to post our investigative results to her website. I had been searching for a way to help her and the only thing that would work was a word of blog about her case to raise public awareness: The public was on her side. A lot of people didn’t care about the sex or the prostitution or “Hi-Class Fantasy Service,” as Ms. Palfrey described.
It was the Johns the public wanted to know about.
She arrived for a light dinner on June 30, arising from Le Baraquel’s kind offer of support to her by email after hearing her interviewed. Petite, a surprise of discretion and femininity, she rather reminded me of a prim school teacher, a perfectionist with a taste for little bows.
Her chart was compelling. Born March 18, 1956, 11:55am, Charleroi, PA, she had 12 Cancer rising, Moon in 14 Gemini. The Mars is in 10 Capricorn, and as of last November’s Mars retrograde at degrees close and applying to this Mars on the 7th, I wrote to Le Baraquel to ask he tell her to be extremely careful about self-protection, possibly expecting an attack, by bullet.
Similar to the previous Mars Retrograde in which Dick Cheney pulled the shot, this worry which began last summer in our conversation, would heighten after November. If this was going to work out like Cheney’s situation, it was a black idea to even conjure let alone confess.
Having only confessed this possibility in one private conversation does not constitute a prediction, but certainly outlines my distress.
The transit Mars had retrograded last November in this most unpredictable sign for the Warrior Archetype: Who knows what ‘mood’ Mars would be in while in Cancer? The transit and retrograde of Mars in Cancer would touch her ascendant, suggesting her person, and while opposed to the Mars in the 7th, it would signal she had something to fear from open, and well-known enemies.
A hanging in the shed built off the side of her Mother’s mobile home is not what I would have imagined until I read my notes and saw that I had used the phrase “self-destructive” on more than one occasion. Yet, an opposition would also suggest there is someone acting the part of the opposition, even if transit Mars is in her ascendant. (My fears were realized today.)
The fate of her chart lies with the Part of Fortune, in Virgo. We would go to the ruler of that sign and declare Mercury (in the case of Virgo) as ruler of Fortune. Yesterday, the Moon was on that degree of Mercury. A possible meeting or telephone call would have alerted Debra Jeane or perhaps it was just a sighting of the victim: in the next 12 hours, she would lay dead in a shed… and no witnesses.
Enough people wanted her dead, though “silenced” would be the classier way to say it, she might have corrected me there and in that fashion.
The trial covered lots of women talking about some kinky service or another. Illegal pleasure in the Capitol city of this country is actually a crime, is it not? But there are no laws to protect the public from the inflations of their leaders who carouse like the emperors of Rome without a scratch. (Unless you are a Democrat.) There would have been some leeway for her fate had the trial been able to be more public.
I investigated her previous website and found that it lacked many documents to which the public would have needed access. She wrote back saying I could write to the court to obtain them myself. I was volunteering a large package already, and asked her to provide her own copies. By December 9th, 2007, she had decided to turn my offer down. “I don’t want to be one of those kook pages on DailyKos.com,” she said. In my heart I countered most rigorously: Yes you need this. But it was not to be. In a way, the 7th house Mars in Capricorn was also a trouble-maker for herself, and kept her in Saturn rigorousness, applying ethics instead of fighting the bloody war that Mars in Cancer was waging. She told the press before her trial she wished to be known as the Washington Madame, as it sounded classier. Mars in Capricorn.
Sounding classier was the concern which also may have caused her to become more vulnerable.
My last email to Le Baraquel was not pretty, as concerned the Palfrey case.
“She needed the public outrage to bring the crooks in from the cozy offices. She also shot herself in the foot numerous times by the constant 7th house Mars component attacking the attorneys. There were 4 of them, and she ended up with the first one she fired after all that. The court was not going to let her represent herself!
DC Madam lost her case when she opted out of the public awareness campaign which should have started by December 9, but no! She wasn’t going to be some kook on DailyKos. Ok. So she’s a kook in jail by being completely sideswiped by the Mars pattern, something we knew to be INJURIOUS. She injured her case and her defense on her very own!!!
Don’t know what else to say, Le Baraquel. But if you were to take care of Mars for its properties of INABILITY TO CONTROL ONE’S SELF you might have called this for what it was: A BLOODY RAW DEAL, which is MARS.”
Yet, both of us were convinced that with more proactivity on her own behalf, perhaps adding something that would have compromised her a little –in the moniker of Mars she would have to “give blood” of her own– but there was just enough of a chance that with public opinion on her side (through a promotion among citizen bloggers and investigators) she might have lived to produce a fabulous biography by age 62.
But she was ever the victim of the government. She was denied appointment of her own choice of attorney as she had taken from her all her assets. She then cycled through four different attorneys firing them each in the course of her long preparation for the constantly delayed trials, again feeling the rebuke of her willfulness. Then the railroaded, one-sided “trial,” and a jury out so fast you’d think there was a hurricane in the neighborhood. The sentencing was a 55-year charge. As this would amount to life in prison, I can imagine suicide crossed her mind.
Yet, remembering another conversation made me wonder. She had a writer interested in her story, and I believe she had much more to tell the public than she was willing while she awaited trial almost 18 months.
Someone ought to ask her mother about the altercation at the pink and white house in Florida last November (I cannot remember if it was exactly in November) when Palfrey was visiting her mother. Her mother was threatened by some men on a visit date of travel, arriving some four hours earlier than Palfrey to grill her mother.
Who were those guys? Her mother probably knows.

Yeah, all the WaPo coverage was very… enh.
Illegal pleasure in the Capitol city of this country is actually a crime, is it not? But there are no laws to protect the public from the inflations of their leaders who carouse like the emperors of Rome without a scratch.
Something I did not understand until I unwillingly relocated close by: DC mostly reflects the geographical area surrounding it. In the culture, what they talk about in the news, and so on. I think the usual run of people would call it Southern ‘restraint’ or something, but that’s not it. There’s an abusive streak underneath the politeness. It’s difficult to describe: some bezerk combination of Northern repression, Southern sweeping-stuff-under-the-rug and a real stench of narcissism, like everyone is expecting to be on camera all the time. And the news anchors on TV all come across as if they take a heavy load of tranquilizers every day.
At any rate…
It was the Johns the public wanted to know about.
Nice girls don’t tell… or they get dead, around here, anyways.
Just from following what was going in the paper, she very obviously got a raw deal. And the paper was fairly gleeful (in that restrained DC way) that she was going to get her comeuppance because she had messed with powerful people.
p.s. You might want to edit La Baraquel’s real moniker out of the post.

[’Strange days.’]
Maybe I’m misunderstanding what has happened here, but it looks to me like a client’s confidentiality has been violated. I wouldn’t think her death would release an astrologer from that. Or maybe as part of the “pro bono” agreement, she’d agreed that her chart could be used in this way? It doesn’t sound like it.
There’s a difference I think between discussing the chart of a celebrity whose data is in the public domain and divulging the identity of a present or former client regardless of celebrity-hood.
Suppose I were to consult an astrologer who has a well-known popular blog. At present I’m not a celebrity. But what if the circumstances surrounding my death were to propel me, however briefly, into some sort of post-mortem 15 minutes of fame? The ruler of my 8th is conjunct my Midheaven, so that’s not out of the question. Can I expect that said astrologer would write a blog post revealing that I had been his/her client, divulge my data, discuss the particulars of our consultation(s), and to further discuss the astrological indicators of my death? All without my prior consent just because I was now deceased?
Again, unless I’ve completely misunderstood what’s transpiring via this post, I am very troubled by the disclosure.
“Can I expect that said astrologer would write a blog post revealing that I had been his/her client, divulge my data, discuss the particulars of our consultation(s), and to further discuss the astrological indicators of my death?”
Good question, Doreen and the answer is going to depend on who the astrologer is and maybe some other factors.
For example, I just had a client today who quite unexpectedly told me at the end of the session if I could use her or her story in anyway, I was welcome to. Never been told that before but it just goes to show you.
As to my posting this, I consider cf to be a big girl and this story to be very, very interesting which is why it is on my blog.:-)
Debra Jeane Palfrey entered into an agreement with me at the very beginning: My partner and I would have freedom to write whatever we wanted on the basis of her chart and her experiences, without constraint, and we would counsel her in exchange. That being said, confidentiality was maintained throughout the time of the trial, which I also agreed, and fulfilled. I hoped it would not be a post mortem write-up, but her own actions make this wish impossible.
respectfully

Thank you for clarifying that Claire-France.
Claire-France responds at length here:

This still doesn’t ring 100% true with me. I wouldn’t hire either of you at this point.
well, I consider CF to be one of the most brilliant women I’ve ever read. her integrity is apparent in all I’ve seen. I’d hire her, and I’d get her back in a fist fight.
er, as in “HAVE her back” not as in “I’d sucker punch her in an alley” you know, just to be clear.
Brilliance seldom precludes duplicity.
This still smacks of raw opportunism, and dead clients tell no tales.
look, whatever, I don’t understand your jump to foul play. I really don’t. while I’m insensed at the attack on someone I respect, what really surprises me is your direct rudeness toward Elsa’s friend. I’m appalled.
Without really delving into her chart, I just am really amazed that a woman would check out in the manner that she supposedly did. My gut is saying that it just doesn’t feel right. Women don’t usually use guns on themselves because they don’t want a horrid looking corpse, and while I have never seen photos or the real thing, and never want to, death by hanging surely must be a gruesome sight.
Something is amiss here in my opinion.
satori - thanks for taking up for cf.
Avery - I have known cf for about 7 years and she is high quality and high character. Unfortunately (like myself) she is someone not everyone understands and she is also (like myself) someone who does not have time to explain everything to everyone all the time.
This is not meant as an attack but you have several times in the past come to erroneaous conclusions about me and other people in my life and I think you just may be a person who tends to come to erroneous conclusions.
Daemonesss - I think similar to you as I stated. A shed is just so LOW CLASS. But cf has come up with other information (that she can document) that does indicate this was most likely a suicide.
Wow. Thank you Satori. A rare support for my admittedly rather irritating style which grates a lot of people.
My conscience is quite clear on this. She was not a friend and I did not entertain the idea of friendship. It was a reporter/astrologer and a “High Class Fantasy Service” talking together.
We were offering ourselves as a pro bono deal: Yes indeed for the opportunity of writing about her. I am first a reporter in my projection of my worth: Double-Gemini. None of this is controversial. But those who carry their own Mary Poppins archetype of what is right and wrong will of course argue.
I am also raised by a Spanish grandmother who brooked no especial pleasure in entertaining idiots. I learned there was a lot of good in dispensing with those who espoused one-sided views. Thus, her destructive motivations were shown to me! And after a while of working on these, I ducked out of the conversation.
One-sided people have no thought of an even greater possibility with their own small sacrifice. This is common!! Faithless. Unseeing. Lacking in Judgement. Not a rare item at all.
My way is also the Spanish way. Mercury in Scorpio in the Midheaven is what I remember of the chart of Spain. It is common in Spain that people refrain from asking, “Who are you voting for in the next election?” This is considered indiscreet. Similarly, I don’t inject myself into the fate of another once it has been made clear my voice is not welcomed.
A zipped lip, but a constant warning to my partner followed. My conversations with my partner will remain secret. But our conventional agreement with DJ Palfrey will not.
For me it is a matter of making the necessary distinctions. DJ Palfrey was herself the author of her life, I had no intentions of steering her, but was appalled at her continued lack of any good judgement. Every time I opened another email between her and my partner I had to just shake my head. What was she up to?
In sum, it was a plan to kick over the stool, right from the beginning. It is only in retrospect that the pieces are fitting together. Lest anyone take me for a judge, or again question my ethics as regards my writing about her, I will make my own distinctions (between what is for the public consumption and what remains private) and will report because it is my right.
Someone used the word “opportunist” in the comments, and of course you hear that when a public figure makes a descent and their biographers follow too rapidly. Except there is no paycheck here. To be sure, she also called me “a user,” when in fact, all good faith and support had been extended. My ethics however did not allow for the fantasy life and the fantasy outcome to be a part of our conversation and that she resented.
I will allow the entire episode to be judged later, and refrain from some defense where none is really needed.
Read about her case and comment on the US government treatment and think about “Innocence until proof of guilt.” That treatment is what goes against my craw, and for which it was worth speaking to the late DC Madam. Social Justice is what is important to me here, and that is what I wanted to write about.
The shed and a few other things actually go extremely low. That was a hallmark chez Ms. Palfrey if you read the transcripts from the railroaded trial.
And being hired? Thanks, but no thanks. I don’t take fools for clients, nor clients for fools.
