“What &*^$# Word Is Giving You Trouble?”: Mercury In Aspect To Saturn In Synastry
Astrology in real life
Alma writes, quoting something I wrote in a comment about my rudeness:
very funny - “I am not a dog that you can carry around in your purse!!”
Now see, that is the kind of thing I would yell at the soldier and he would not know what in the world I was talking about. Seems perfectly obvious to me what I am saying but he would be standing there as he says, “like a hog looking at a wristwatch”. And it would progress like this:
“A dog? What do you mean, a dog?”
“A dog! A dog! I am not a dog you can carry around in a purse! I am not civil. I am NOT!”
“What do you mean carry a dog in your purse? I’ve got no purse.”
“Oh %$&()!@#!!! I MEEEEEEEEEEEAN, I am not a behaving son of a bitch!”
At this point he may sigh. “So do you want to go to dinner now or keeping fighting. We can keep fighting if you want.”
And it’s right here I want to bang my head against the wall. Because what would have provoked the whole thing was some kind of attempt to control me on his part. You know. Cover your legs! Wear shirts with surgeon general warnings on them…
And I would like him to understand what I am saying, obviously. But “I’m not a dog you can carry around in your purse” is the language I speak. That right there is home speak, see? My whole family has Mercury mashed up with Mars and we all pop off and if you don’t understand us we can get inordinately pissed and we just get meaner and meaner. And it’s not good, it just is.
“What &*^$# word is giving you trouble?” Whoever said that first had to be a Mars Mercury type.
Do you ever say things like that?

Elsa, you reckon the soldier ever plays you a little…by playing dumber or more obtuse than he actually is on something? I realize it was only an example and maybe didn’t happen that way, but “I have no purse” for example, is well, like, duh! Dude, see, there is this thing, it is called a metaphor? (Actually, I am not sure what it is called, maybe good to find out…Elsa or some English major, what is the word?)
I have seen it used as a trick. To take the ‘metaphor’ and make it literal and then stand there, open palms, facing up, all innocent-like…who me? well, it’s a little slick…and then, as you pointed out, he gets to drop the whole thing and go eat or do other cool sensually enjoyable Taurus yummy things.
Maybe maybe this pattern is perfect for most of the time, then if you really want to pursue some concern with The Soldier you will have to dumb it down, LOL and smirk, because dumb like a fox is more like it, and while Taureans are not remotely dumb, some of us can be great pretenders when it serves us. I know that I myself have mastered Obtuseness to an art form.
cuz you know, here is a funny example of a real language problem, a different dynamic all together, but something you said reminded me. When I was in India there were so many communication situations due to language. An Indian would tell me something or other with great enthusiasm, and then like a typical American oftentimes says to show enthusiasm, I would say, “You’re kidding!” (as in, that’s so cool!) And they would be like, “Kidding? Kidding? who is kidding?”
When I’m around my family, I definitely let it fly. We all interrupt each other, say outrageous things, and ask questions without listening to the answers. I learned verbal sparring over the dinner table.
With my last boyfriend, I would take one of his comments and expose its ridiculousness by extending it to its fullest reach. At the Thai restaurant, he made a comment about a waitress who used to work there, who had huge fake boobs. He said some guy must have seen her, set her up in an apartment and told her she never had to work again. It soon became a running joke. Are you and your friends going to pool some money and buy a Thai girl? I know you wouldn’t want to take on the expense all by yourself. Are you going to chain her to the radiator if she acts up?
I do have Mars/Mercury tied up together. My communication isn’t heated though, I don’t yell at all. I just make withering comments.
I wouldn’t have gotten the metaphor either. I am Lucy Literal all the time.
Loonsounds - it’s possible he plays me but I doubt it. He hates fighting with me worse than anything in the world and besides that he knows I am dangerous to play with. For example I am perfectly capable of not talking to you for 3 years. Wanna take a chance? He knows my history, this is why all the respect. I know his history so vice versa.
And yeah, I made up that conversation.
I have been know to yell ‘I’m not the dancing bear at the zoo’ at people. Then freaked out when they laugh at me. AGH!
(Point being: I don’t perform on demand).
sometimes i make weird metaphors. sometimes people understand, sometimes they don’t. sometimes i have no idea.
but i think that’s uranus/mercury.
and i have saturn/mercury going too so sometimes i shut myself up when i probably should let fly.
