Outtakes and various sundries

Truckers ‘going broke’ and threatening to strike

“What started as a small, online grassroots effort now appears to have the potential for something bigger.

Dan Little, the owner/operator of a livestock hauling company in Carrollton, Mo., estimated Tuesday that at least 1,000 other truckers from across the United States have committed so far to joining him in a strike on April 1…”

There is actually a pretty good chance of this happening. The writers (Virgo) stopped work (Saturn) didn’t they? Why not the people who transport… everything?

I think we should consider truckers the canary in the coal mine. I’m afraid for what’s coming regarding the economy.

Two Thanksgivings ago there was a snowstorm that stopped all the trucks. I wish I could find the picture I had… the shelves at the grocery store were barren. There was no produce whatsoever within a couple or three days. No bread. No eggs.

It looked like WW3 and it was a real wake up call…

it will certainly remind everyone that society functions bottom-up, rather than top-down. it is the “little man” that runs the world. if executives strike we will all yawn.

Truckers may have to go in for job retraining, as economies ‘go local.’ Just not a good use of resources to haul a tomato across the country using fossil fuels. I hate to see anyone lose their job. But that’s Saturn creating limitations that force people to use earth resources more wisely. My two cents for today!

I’m all for going local but not everyone is going to want a paper mill, etc “in their own backyard,” though. And I like TP. Thank you truckers! :D

Rollye James (radio show I listen to) has been talking about this strike lately. A lot of truckers call in & a lot of the independent otr drivers are giving up, it seems like, and working for the big transport co’s. :(

The things I worry most about doing without if the spit hits the fan are toilet paper, and hygiene products. LOL, maybe that is stupid of me. I like to be clean and smell good in a crisis, though. It helps me to think rationally.

Professional drivers are asking American citizens to participate in the “National Shut-Down”

This is an issue effecting all of us and we MUST take a stand NOW. Our government IS a major contributing factor in the outrageous price of fuel…we must take this action to get their attention. All other avenues has only fallen on deaf ears - our government is ignoring the will, and needs, of the American people.
