What Do Online Daters Lie About?
Astrology in real life…
This shocked me:
FREAK-TV: What Do Online Daters Lie About?
“But we thought it would make sense to go out on the street and ask people, one by one, the same question: if you filled out an online dating profile, what would you lie about? You might want to ask yourself the same question before you click “play.”…”
Check out the comments, I feel spectacularly naive. I have been on these sites and didn’t lie which is something considering I have Venus square Neptune, known to deceive! However, there is some difference between lying and not mentioning, right? ![]()
If you filled out an online dating profile, what would you lie about? Where is your Venus… how about your hunting Mars?

I’ve met people through online dating sites. I was paranoid that someone I knew would see my profile, so I added several pounds to my weight and added inches to my height in my description.
Otherwise I was honest. (This was before every profile had a photograph).
Venus in Leo (11th), Mars in Taurus (7th)
I wouldn’t lie about anything and that’s because I don’t think I could ever have an online dating profile. I don’t trust the virtual world and I hate dating as it is.
Venus in Scorpio, 5th house.
Mars in Aries, 10th house.
I’m on a dating site, and I have no picture posted.
Smartest thing I ever did. The ONLY men who contact me are the ones who love my words. (Then they are rewarded with knowledge of the boobs behind them.)
Otherwise I’m honest as possible. My problem is always TMI, never too little.
Strangely, I always say everything you’re not supposed to on a first date, and it never seems to scare the guy away like I’ve heard it’s supposed to.
I’m very punchy right now, and I’m going to stop typing.
lol…I agree with Diana. No lying, no disclosing, no online profiles for me.
Venus and Mars in Aries, 10th house
Pluto in Libra, 5th house
I’ve done the online dating thing and I’ve never lied. I did get pretty savvy to the fact that other people do though.
Anyway seems silly to me to lie and I’m a Gemiliar.
But I’ve never intend to deceive - just my reality is sometimes drifty.
Venus in Cancer in the 8th. Virgo Mars in the 10th.
i don’t ever ever use my real name or birthdate. and i don’t think these sites have the right to ask, as long as i’m old enough.
I don’t “date” but I take relationships seriously in the sense that I wouldn’t lie to someone online. I’ve had people lie to me like that and I find it sickening. But I would feel that way, my 7th house ruler (mars) is in my 12th so I have had my fair share of unreality with “partners”.
Oddly, I was writing about this yesterday.
venus in taurus/8th.
I don’t think I’d date online - for that reason. I would not want to lie - I cannot lie, but I would also not want to expose myself online in that way. I would want to control who gets what info about me. It’s not open to all. (How’s that for mercury and saturn in virgo in the 3rd hahaha).
A note for the anti-online daters. I found my Irishman on craigslist and he’s the best thing I’ve found anywhere ever. I’ve also made some good friends and had a lot of fun. AND I saw about a million lying assholes who usually reveal themselves in their profile but if not they will show themselves in the first message or two.
The genuine people shine like a beacon though and that’s why I saw John. But I have Scorpio and it’s entertaining to me to sort through the garbage and find pearls.
I found two of the most interesting people I’ve ever met through an online dating site. I liked the fact that initial communications are through email - which made it easy to weed people out based on how well they expressed themselves and the nature of our communication.
I loathe “dating” and the torture of a first date with an unknown entity, because I basically can tell within the first 5 minutes of conversation whether I can be with someone. Online dating saved me a lot of time! I highly recommend it.
I started online dating in early January. It made what is usually the longest month of the year to me– fly by. I found it amusing and ego boosting…at first. I assumed I was lucky when the first guy I dated was really intelligent and fun. We went out on two dates, and both were a success. The weird thing was he never called me on the phone– all contact was via email- and never at night. I know — your thinking he’s married or has a girlfriend— he didnt. He was just completely set in his own ways, and was not going to budge.(never married– 52) He is a Cap sun, Virgo moon, Taurus asc. Venus in Aqu. Mars in Scorpio. He probably would have been good in bed, but I was married to an iceberg for 15 years, and global warming aside,—- I DONT WANT ANOTHER ICEBERG.
Here’s why you can never give up on life, because you never know what’s on the horizon.
The night after Valentine’s Day, on which I never heard from the above referenced jerk, I went to a concert with my son.
It was very crowded, and all of a sudden I noticed this very tall man standing next to me, and he was with his daughter. We started talking, and one thing led to another, and I am going out with him this evening. I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He gave me his #, and since last Sunday we have spoken on the phone an average of 3 hours per night. He’s Sadge sun and rising. I’m Sadge moon, venus, jupiter. All this in the shadow of the Eclipse. I met him the old fashioned way, and I believe him and I are starting the next chapter of our lives. We shall see.
Thank you! It was very theraputic to write this.
Oh, and No- I didnt lie on my profile, but I did remove it from circulation the other day. I’m over it.
I never actually finish filling my profile out.
I get worried about what people are going to think about what I write. Worry about their judgement (saturn, square merc) because my words are personal (virgo moon). It all gets to be too much (Because I can’t make it perfect) and I just nuke the entire profile (mars square pluto). I’d sooner meet men through my friends anyway (venus in sag) then I can creep up on them (hahahha twelfth house venus, pluto square mars out laying the trap for the unwary male hahahahhahaa Caughtcha)
Jerri,
I’m dating someone with Cap sun, Taurus asc. & Venus in Aqu. He IS a bit of an iceburg, hates talking on the phone, but he is really good in bed.
Sounds like you met a really nice guy. Have fun tonight with the Sadge.
Alma-
Thank you!
Maybe I should have checked him out in the bedroom, before I let him go. Alas,– but I’m a scorp. If he was good I’d probably have stayed, and I dont think I was meant to.
I had never thought it was a Mars thing before but I’m laughing now. The only thing I leave out of my online dating profile is my weight. I don’t lie about it… just leave it out. Everything else is very honest. I have Taurus Mars ![]()

I wouldn’t lie about anything, but there are some things I wouldn’t mention in an online dating profile. Venus in Libra (8th house) and Mars in Capricorn (12th house).
I have actually done this once, and found a pretty decent guy inside a week…though in the end it didn’t work out.
