Saturn In Virgo - Chatting More… Or Less?

Last week I emailed a pal to say though I would have liked to call her, I just didn’t feel I had the energy it would take to hold up my end of the conversation. I realized this is because communication has been so difficult lately. I have to constantly rein myself in. It is a pure fact you can’t go to court and blather!
I have also been asked by someone to communicate in way that is more precise and technical as I make no sense to them otherwise and never mind how this sounds. When I re-read the code-talking I had sent them to parse I could see they were right! My communication skills (Virgo) need work (Saturn)!
I have to wait my turn to talk through meeting after meeting after meeting… meetings I don’t even want to attend, and I have to be careful what I say in the meetings and I have to write a lot too. Not just this blog, I have a responsibility (Saturn) to write (Virgo) all kinds of other stuff for the people in these meetings where any errors will be sure to haunt me in the future and it is just very strange how this happened.
Prior to Saturn’s ingress into Virgo I would talk on the phone (at length) to relax and unwind. These days it is such a struggle to communicate I have cut my phone time by 80% outside of talking to the soldier and most of our conversations are also “work”. I am responsible for the the behind the scenes stuff and details (Virgo) that allow him to move about more efficiently while hitting all these marks he’s supposed to hit.

I miss blathering so much! Conversations these days take place but they are far more infrequent that I am used to and “significant” rather than frivolous and fun. I also have the editing job on the Top 10 Sources Of Astrology News which is more demanding by the day. I don’t surf for pleasure but for work.
Has anyone else seen their communication take a serious turn?

Lets not forget that mercury (planet of communication) is currently
retrograde and all forms of communication - not just speech
will be effected to some degree during this time.
Interesting that you mention this. I noticed the amount of blogging I did has fallen off tremendously since Sat moved into Virgo. I become more and more mute as the months have rolled on. I am now mostly mute except when talking about color.
You’d think with Mars conjunct Mercury in Gemini, I’d be all about chatting and yakking and I’ve done my share over the years. But ever since my secondary progressed Sun went into Virgo (1999), I’ve become increasingly more focused and serious. Even more so since Saturn’s been in Virgo (which I have natally, i.e., it’s my second Saturn return). Now, if I “chat” it has to have a purpose. This morning after my yoga class, my teacher and I had a talk over tea about listening to the body versus always telling it what to do, doing one thing at a time as opposed to multi-tasking as a means to reduce stress, and the importance of quiet and relaxation during bodywork sessions (both giving and receiving…I am a massage therapist) in order to integrate the effects of the work.
Talking is definitely taking more work, I’m spending a lot more time just surveiling the conversation. Even blogging and writing in my diaries seems to take a significantly greater effort.

I’ve made myself write every day (even if it’s just for me) lately. Saturn is trining my N Mercury, so it’s probably time I started writing more maturely 
Usually I don’t communicate without a purpose with Mercury in Capricorn, but I notice I have been taking what I write more seriously. It’s not just for pleasure anymore.
Yes I am chatting less. My natural state is to be frugal with my word count, in conversations anyway. Plus the last time I stepped off my soapbox, I sprained my ankle…joking.
One of the things I like about your Blog, Elsa is that you ask questions. You tell great stories and bring up very interesting topics and then end with a question.
The answers are creative, inspired, outlandish, insightful and a host of other adjectives that keep me coming back to check in.
And although Saturn in Virgo may be affecting the kind of feedback you are recieving on this site, I am not sure that it is changing the amount of feedback you are recieving.

I order tea, I get coffee. I order vegetarian, I get chicken. Half the conversations I have with my SO have to be repeated.
Last night, he actually said to me “This is the most bizarre conversation I have ever had in my life”, as when I said something like “I really hope we can drive to Montreal this summer” he thought I was saying something like “I’m going to the store to buy icecream.”
I am more frustrated than you could ever believe. I don’t even feel like talking at all anymore!

You will have noticed Elsa - I hardly give any feedback anymore. And I can’t keep up reading either. Saturn transit to my natal saturn and mercury in virgo in the 3rd house! I do still enjoy your site a lot. I like the videos more than ever. Commenting at this point is very very strained. As are communications in general for me. I have dropped communication with friends too. Not because I don’t want to talk to them, but because I just don’t have the energy. All I can say is that BOY am I going to enjoy talking and writing once this passes!!
Elsa- I am training myself to think about things by asking myself questions. So, I appreciate the thought provoking questions that you ask.
Has the volume of feedback increased? Does this ebb and flow as a result of retrograde planets or planets moving into different signs. I don’t know, skip the question if you like, I will think of a better question another day.

Oh, Cheese, Kashmiri! We must have a lot of planets/aspects that are similar, because I totally get you on that comment!
Just the other day I said to my fiance that I’m sick of talking because no one listens or tries to understand. Like hanging with friends, I’ll say something which gets no response, like, “Hey, I think I’d like ice cream. Let’s get some!” And we all twiddle our thumbs until twenty minutes later, when someone says, “For some odd reason I feel like getting ice cream. . ..” and suddenly everyone else starts moving! Very, very frustrating for us Leo suns. Argh!
Everytime I go to the Chinese buffet, I will order something to drink and the waitress (different ones!) will bring me hot tea. It’s gotten to the point that it’s a joke, especially since I usually have a water. 
I think it’s probably my Merc-Saturn conjunction trine Neptune — my words are restricted and/or erased? Make sense?
Kashmiri, SaDiablo, I am in the same boat. I am so depressed because I feel as if no-one hears me. I say something to my mother, “I’m going to do x, y and z. 10 minutes later she’s TELLING me you need to do x, y and z. I’m like “did those words not come out of my mouth?”
My SO just pain doesn’t hear me. He’s started to claim that I talk too quietly. Or that I never said or told him stuff I’ve written down, emailed, told him, left a note for him, etc.
My friend seem incommunicado to my emails. It’s like communication just fizzles and disappears after it comes out of my mouth and before it gets to the person that counts.
It’s horrible, depressing, frustrating. I have 12th house mercury so I’ve always been aware of my communication problems but this, this is just beyond the pale.
Mudlikesubstance, in those situations (other than the SO) I’ve just learned to shrug it off. I just don’t have the energy to spend making sure that everything I say is understood correctly and I’ve gotten tired of trying to communicate to people that can’t receive what I’m sending. Nowadays I make sure that if I’ve got something important to say that I stop moving around, make firm eye contact with the person, and speak slowly and clearly. THEN I ask for confirmation! *lol*
“Okay, look, w, x, y, is important to me so don’t z. Alright?”
“Okay.”
“Okay, what? What is it you think you’re agreeing to?”
It makes some people feel like idiots (so I’ve been told), but there’s really no other way I’ve found to make sure they’ve actually heard me. Instead of, you know, hearing only a portion or twisting the meaning. But at least I’m not as stressed about it as I used to be!
