Astrology in Real Life
Here is the first sign of the press (Jupiter) restraining (Capricorn) itself. From this article about Mr. Blackwell’s 48th annual worst-dressed list.
Victoria Beckham tops worst-dressed list
“…Missing from the list was Britney Spears, who has made it many times before.
“I felt that it was inappropriate at this time to make comment, when her personal life is in such upheaval. I hope 2008 is a better year for her,” Blackwell said.”

I almost fainted from relief. Finally some class. Leave it to an old man (Capricorn) to set the bar. I am inordinately happy about this and you?

Well, I certainly hope this is the start of a trend. The insane, over-the-top media celebrity obsessionism started its peak with Sagittarius Sun/Libra Rising Anna Nicole’s death, and has not freaking let up for a year. They’re doing pretty much the same thing with fellow Sag/Libra Britney, and what a breath of fresh air to see even Mr. Crankypants Blackwell show some restraint.
I saw that article this morning and was relieved. Agreed, finally some class!
While I can agree Mr. Blackwell’s choice not to add more misery onto Britney Spears was a nice thing to do, I’ve always felt his Worst Dressed List to be pointless and just mean-spirited.
The problem with celebrities is that most of them are surrounded by people who fawn all over them and they rarely get a dose of reality. Only the ones that start out as really grounded people are able to keep some perspective.
I would think that worst dressed lists were mean-spirited if the critics were splitting hairs, like when Joan and Melissa Rivers pick celebs apart on the red carpet, but some celebs genuinely go around dressed like they’re part of a freak show. I mean, It’s a free country, and just as Amy Winehouse is free to rat her hair up into improbably heights, anyone is free to point out that it looks ridiculous.
I don’t like it when women’s magazines do the same to real women on the street like Glamour Magazine’s Do’s and Don’ts list. I stopped my subscription after it made me mad for the nth time. On the one hand they tell women to be brave and express themselves, but the slightest mis-step and there you are with a black bar over your eyes.
