Astrology Today - Capricorn Bay-bee! I Feel For Cancer…

My eye on the sky

capricorn bakeliteSun, Moon, Mercury and Jupiter in Capricorn. Saturn in Virgo trines the Cap, squares Venus and opposes Uranus so are we serious yet or no?

::smirks::

I feel so sorry for Cancers right now, don’t you?

It reminds me of Cancer, Scott’s immortal words at the time of his Saturn return. I had known him for 10 years by then. I had been his off and on girlfriend for that long too and he came over to my apartment all forlorn.

“You had the right idea, Elsie,” he said to a clueless me. “I can see it now and I only have one thing to say,” he said. “I have a warning for everyone, everywhere.”

“What’s that?” I asked. He was 28, I was about 26.

“Never postpone growing up,” he said.

I laughed.

“And I brought you this book,” he said, “I’ve been reading it (Scott is Jewish) and it’s hit me very hard. I brought it to you - thought you might like to read it but on the way over here I realized you probably don’t need to read it, where I should probably read it again.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. I mean I think it’s a good book. It’s a great book, I just think you could have written it yourself so there is probably no use in you reading it.”

I stared at him. He is a cocky man and I was fascinated to see him so humbled. “What is the book?” I asked.

Man’s Search For Meaning, by Viktor E. Frankl” he said.

“Never heard of it,” I said.

cancer bakelight“Well it’s a famous book. It’s a compliment to say you could have written it,” he said.

I shrugged. “I’ll take your word for that because I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Well I’ll leave it here for you to read if you want but I don’t think you’re going to learn anything. You already know everything in here, I am the one who could stand to learn a thing or two. So do you want to read it? Because I think I should read it again regardless.”

“I already know the stuff?” I asked.

“You do and I feel very humble at the moment,” he said. “I don’t think I have treated you very well or shown you enough respect. I really think you could have written this or something like this when you were sixteen,” he said.

“Really? Okay, well then no sense me reading it if that’s the case. Since you think you need it, read it again and then bring it over when you’re done, done and Scott?”

“What?”

“You look like shit.”

On that we both burst out laughing but here’s the point:

With all this emphasis on Capricorn, Cancer is in trouble.

“Never postpone growing up.”

HHMM..growing up, an interesting theme.I am 54 and all grown up, but moving past one of those physical milestones that define us..and it feels good–I’ve been waiting for this.

The past month the Cap. planets also move towards a conjunct. my MOON and they of course do the nasty with all the Cancerian planets..(I’m sun uranus and mars in cancer) .. and I am totally reversing some decisions I made last year. (what else is new)

Growing up for me means I am throough with the corporate world completely.. after one last try to work part time.. and I am settling into my astrology practice here at home for what it’s worth– busy, not busy,.

As a Cancer I am soo happy with housewife mode, most of the time and this year I feel I need to give myself the gift of being in and enjoying my HOMES.I have a small mt. cabin in addition to a place in the desert and I see myself going back and forth this year, playing with my ART, animals and my spirit..

I feel good emotionally, actually, as if this cycle has been a long time coming. (And I was resisting)I can’t wait to play out my two weeks notice in the office full of mean bitches.. (did I SAY THAT)– I’ll walk out if they continue– but I’m trying to be nice and give them notice..

Growing UP seems to be GOING BACK, for me, at this age, to my core self, the mystical gal who enjoys being home a whole lot but will see some clients for astrological counsel as they come..

woo hoo 2008 here I come!

I read that book many years ago and enjoyed it. You could sum it up with that phrase ‘Don’t let the bastards get you down.’

Never postpone growing up…because once Capricorn grows up they get to grow young again, right? lol! ;)

I don’t understand Elsa- I know cap and cancer are opposite signs, but why with emphasis on cap is cancer in trouble? I thought cancer as a mother figure was as ‘mature’ as capricorn?

Heh, never postpone growing makes sense - but my best friend from childhood has Saturn conjunct his natal Cancer sun, so I have *every* confidence he’ll be just fine with the Cap planets in opposition. :)

Amber, it’s just difficult when there is such focus on the energy opposite yours. Sort of like an Virgo who thrives with a schedule being thrown into a Pisces fog. Or forcing a Scorpio who wants to starve to eat… too gorge themselves like Taurus. A little of this is fine, but the sky at the moment is overwhelming and I think akin to what a Cancer would experience at a Saturn return.

Capricorn of course is in their element.

Gosh i hope not as bad as a saturn return, said the cancer stellium.

For some reason opposition energy doesnt feel as crunching to me as squares or as intense as conjunctions…at least in regards to the faster moving planets…

moonpluto - that is probably because you’re grown up! Grew up at your Saturn return, see?

Sure it’s hard - within the past week I’ve had a baby and my grandmother died - but I have Saturn rising so it seems an easier handle for the Capricorn stuff. All hard work to be sure, but because it’s Capricorn, all worthwhile doing.

Hm, I think you’ve just explained to me why my best friend (Cancer) has disappeared under the radar…

Hmm Kashmiri… i have been kinda under the radar too! I wonder if that’s why….

The weather is unseasonably warm for January but napping is my priority. Maybe it is too much Capricorn/hard work making me want to fold up…

Elsa, is there such a thing as a lifelong saturn return?? The saturn “party” never stopping?

Something very strange has been happening to me. lately.in the last ten days or so i realized my body does not accept any food except water. whatever i tried to eat hurt like hell. I am a gemini with moon in cancer conjuct saturn in the 8th house. Well, no wonder. with all that huge capric energy on my poor introverted moon.

What do you do when you have Cancer and Capricorn?…my natal asc 10, pallas 17, NN 29 cancer; sun 3, merc 19 capricorn. My 29 NN is inconjunct 29 Pluto saggi; inconjunct the transiting 28 NN in Aquarius, trine 29 merc in cap. The 17 new moon will oppose my 17 Pallas and square my 17 libra lilith.Jupiter 4 cap is conjunct my sun 3 cap. Saturn at 8 virgo is sitting in between my natal uranus 5 virgo and pluto 12 virgo, opposing my natal Jupiter/chiron conjunction in Pisces which has transiting uranus conjuncting/opposing saturn.oh and the venus square… is coming up to conjunct my 14 sag moon. I don’t think I can postpone growing up.

Oh, I just turned 45, thought I was grown up. I like your thoughts Madeline on “Growing UP seems to be GOING BACK, for me, at this age, to my core self” and perhaps I should be seeing this time as an adventure and a milestone or a turning point.

Yesterday two of my exes contacted me out of the blue. I’m a Cancer, don’t know if all the Capricorn in the sky had anything to do with it.

Moonpluto- I don’t think there is a lifelong SR but there certainly is a never-ending set of lessons when Saturn transits your personal planets.
I’m enjoying myself leaving long sappy messages for my best friend…”I love you, do de do”. She’s getting them, just spending a lot of time napping I guess ha ha

Oh man! This is definitely the time/year of my growing up or bust, last chance. I don’t feel it yet mainly because I choose not to. “Man’s Search for Meaning,” just that phrase has been kind of obsessing me.
