Jupiter is in Capricorn, But Besides That All My Stories Are Real

Behind the scenes at ElsaElsa…

iran hostagesI spoke with astrologer and pal, Claire France Perez on the drive down to see the soldier yesterday, I had called to catch her up. I heard her gasp about ten times.

“You’re telling me,” I said. “I put that last about Iran on my blog. I was pretty graphic about it and no one is saying much, perhaps they don’t believe me.”

She mumbled in agreement… I think. I had pretty much drowned her in information, rapid fire for 20 minutes and I think she was still trying to absorb.

“Well the thing about us is we both have lives that while they may be unbelievable, they happen to be true. Neither one of us lie, we have no time or interest in that. Why would we lie? It is not our fault our lives are unbelievable. Some people have lives like this… obviously.”

A few hours I met the soldier and checked my email while he showered. Someone had written this:

“WHO IS THE SOLDIER?????????? Is he your partner, lover, brother or son? Is he made up? is it you?”

Now that is out of context, it was a nice mail but you might imagine how surprising this was to me. I wrote her back to say he was and then decided to pull up this old post from February, 2007, originally titled: “Jupiter is in Sagittarius, But Besides That All My Stories Are True, which I wrote when someone asked me this exact same thing.

At that time, I asked long time readers to show up and vouch for me which they did in droves leaving me grateful beyond words.

So or anyone else who may be wondering - this is the best I can do to assure you my story are not only real but completely unembellished. If anything, I leave things out.

Thanks again to everyone who showed up last time. If you an add to this, please do. I think I better pull it up once a year.

~~~~~~
From Feb, 2007
jupiter
Someone just emailed not sure if the soldier was real, and he is. He is completely utterly real and so am I. And I am sorry if I haven’t made this this clear and I want to fix that.
All my stories are true.
I am a Jupiter sort (truth) and this is why the link on the right says, “true stories”. I don’t write fiction, I wouldn’t even know how to begin to write fiction. Further, I don’t even like fiction, so there you go.
Now I have been writing stories from my life online since 2000 and if you are one of the people who has been reading since then, would you please tell the people I am real? And maybe tell them how you know that since you’re up against Saturn/Neptune here?
People think I’m not real. They think I am a fake me. Please help. Thanks.
    Laughing. Well. I ~have~ been reading you for years now. But as much as I would like to, I have no way to *prove* to anybody that your stories are real. :-D
    I’ve taken you at your word that they are. But it could all be made up, for all I know! :-D
    But it really doesn’t matter to me, one way or the other.
    (Sorry, that’s not helping, is it! :-P)
  2. Elsa says on 2/27/07 at 7:27 pm:
    No, Strawberry. As a matter of fact, that is fuckin’ worthless! Jesus Christ! Next time I’m callin’ for friends and reinforcements, for godsakes stay down!
    I’m going to the other blog and see if I can get some folks over here to vote for me. My God. This is horrendous.
  3. Strawberry Fields says on 2/27/07 at 7:35 pm:
    Oh come on. See all the smileys. Last one is even ‘tongue in cheek’.
  4. saggal says on 2/27/07 at 7:41 pm:
    I have been reading you since 2001 and one of the first questions I asked you was if what you were writing was real because you skipped around and wrote terrifically different things on a daily basis. I didn’t doubt that you were telling the truth, just the story I happened to first read was very, I guess you can say painful, to read and it resonated with me. I can vouch for everything being true in the fact that the characters never change, and some stories I’ve heard many times over without any changes either. But it never gets boring, surprisingly enough.
  5. Catbert says on 2/27/07 at 7:42 pm:
    Why the heck would you make it up? I’ve been reading you for three years and 100% believe you can be nothing but you - real you.
  6. Susan says on 2/27/07 at 7:51 pm:
    I’ve been reading for several years and your stories are true. I’ve talked to you on the phone, heard the kids in the background, heard your Italian voice… you are who you say you are. I’ve never heard of anyone saying you’ve lied, either.
    You’re the one that taught me I don’t need to convince people that astrology is real — it’s like trying to convince someone love is real. Why bother? It is what it is! The same is true with you. You’re you! Whether someone believes that or not doesn’t change a thing.
    Rock on, Elsa. You know we hold you in very high regard.
  7. silverfoot says on 2/27/07 at 7:57 pm:
    Elsa? a fake?
    *snorts*
    she is many different things, to many different people. i bet you couldn’t get two people to agree on just who Elsa is. i bet you couldn’t get Elsa to agree on who Elsa is! (see: It’s A Hall of Mirrors) but the one thing she isn’t is a lie - there’s no way anyone could tell a lie this convoluted, consistent, and enduring.
    at the end of the day, the one thing you can lay money on is that she is always authentic.
  8. J. says on 2/27/07 at 8:09 pm:
    Coming over here with my asskicking boots on.
    Let me at ‘em.
    I love you to death chickiepoo. You are both interesting and informative and I always come away with something from you, even when it seems you’re talking swahili. *wink*
    Of all of the fraudulant people out there, you would be at the very, very, extreme bottom of anybody’s list. Any sane person’s list, I’d expect.
    But that says something about people these days, doesn’t it? Doubtful and cynical, every third (dare I say second?) person in line.
    I’ve sent you a question or two. And I am real live flesh and blood. And you answered with insight and wisdom.
    I don’t want to swear on your blog, so I’m just going to raise a few fingers in salute.
    And hug the crap out of you on my way out.
    *wink*
  9. Mara says on 2/27/07 at 8:10 pm:
    I just checked my first Xanga blog and realized it’s been 5 years… Wow.
    I’ve spoken to you at length. I’ve felt your energy. I know you’re the real deal.
  10. warweasel says on 2/27/07 at 8:17 pm:
    I’ve been reading you for what… 6 years now? Have seen & read way too much to not believe you are real. Don’t worry about the doubters, though. There will always be doubters…
  11. Lady J says on 2/27/07 at 8:21 pm:
    Real? Of course your stuff is real! Only a fool would think otherwise. We’ve not spoken in person, but you’ve helped me more than you will ever know.
    As others have said, you are many many things but you sure as hell aren’t a fake. And anyone who would claim you were has to have their head examined…
  12. Shannon says on 2/27/07 at 8:25 pm:
    I’ve been reading since the beginning at xanga - about six years myself. And exchanged plenty of email, and had you do a couple readings. Most definitely the genuine article!!!
  13. Becca says on 2/27/07 at 8:33 pm:
    I’ve been reading for about five years now, and have also spoken to you on the phone. I always assumed your stories were true, and will gladly testify that you’re real.
  14. NCONMYMIND says on 2/27/07 at 8:41 pm:
    I’ve been reading for 5 years and I know that this woman and her writings are real, true and genuine. Anyone who doesn’t believe so its fully of poppycock.
  15. Bee says on 2/27/07 at 8:42 pm:
    I’ve been reading Elsa for years, she was at my wedding, and she recently stayed with my husband and I in nyc. Her stories are as real as she is. :)
  16. Rachel says on 2/27/07 at 8:43 pm:
    E, you are SO real.
  17. patti says on 2/27/07 at 9:09 pm:
    I have been reading for awhile, and the reason I was drawn to E was I felt the connection of truth. When one is a truth-teller, one can spot others who are as well. We are a tortured lot. We are a vilified lot. We are a misunderstood lot. But, it’s the only way we know. It’s something that can’t be faked. E’s truth spills out all over us. Careful where you step.
  18. Nathalie says on 2/27/07 at 9:28 pm:
    Someone once told me it’s normal to not trust everything you read on the internet but even so, why wouldn’t you be real? I think your writing is entertaining and the way you bring it across is very real.
  19. Lupa says on 2/27/07 at 9:50 pm:
    Have been reading for years and have spoken to Elsa on the phone several times. She’s real and really wonderful.
  20. the other Kat says on 2/27/07 at 10:38 pm:
    I’ve talked to you on the phone, sent snail mail, chatted with someone who has met you in person, and perhaps most importantly ~ tracked your stories and some of those involved, watched as things have unfolded…fuck yes you’re real.
  21. Shelley says on 2/27/07 at 10:53 pm:
    Another one chiming in that Elsa is completely and absolutely 100% for REAL, as are her stories! I’ve been reading her for geeze, 5 or 6 years? You can’t make this stuff up people! I’ve spoken to her on the phone, she is absolutely real, the energy is incredible and undeniable. And so very amazing!
  22. dixie says on 2/27/07 at 11:02 pm:
    when i first started reading your stuff, I had the same question. your stories were amazing. how could they be true? living in town with your sister as a teen? a hand that miraculously healed from the red handtruck burn that should have fucked it up forever? telling everybody you were going to win the frito contest evening with the basketball player, and then winning?
    but over time, i learned. you’d have pictures, you’d have details, and, again over time, i learned that you have integrity. you agonize over staying true to yourself.
    it’s not personal, the questions. it’s just that the stories are sometimes outside the realm of ordinary experience. and you know that already. your life is outside the realm of ordinary experience, and your work will speak to those whom it should.
    don’t sweat it, sister. :)
  23. Happily_Insane says on 2/27/07 at 11:45 pm:
    I have been reading/lurking (scorpio rising) for at least 6 years. Elsa oozes INTEGRITY, there is no way you can fake the kind of stuff that comes out of her, that is pure life experience.
    Elsa this is a public thank you for all the times you have saved my ass without even knowing about it. Just because you are wonderfully gloriously YOU and have the guts to write it.
    Much love
    G
  24. satori says on 2/28/07 at 12:41 am:
    real, real, real!
  25. Piscesdream says on 2/28/07 at 1:16 am:
    The possibility that you are not real has never crossed my mind at all, Elsa!
  26. tracy (vcrimson) says on 2/28/07 at 1:52 am:
    i’ve been reading elsa since the beginning of xanga pretty nearly….and i’ve never found her to be anything other than sincere…she’s one of the sincerest people i know, in fact…..
    but there’s always going to be someone out there who doesn’t believe…that’s just the nature of the world….so if you don’t believe the stories are true, well…that’s your loss….but as long as i’ve known elsa, i am certain that she is who she says she is…
  27. Dina says on 2/28/07 at 3:18 am:
    Yes she is fucking telling true stories. Why would she have so many pictures of the same cast of people over the years? What would she have to gain by lying? Why would she be willing to put in years of heart and effort into a fake personality with a giant cast of characters, not to mention get to know and meet some of these bloggers, and actually do voice consultations with them? Why would she expose herself that much?
  28. Dina says on 2/28/07 at 3:19 am:
    I mean, she’s friends with satori and cf who can all testify to her reality unless they are unreal too.
  29. corpodibacco says on 2/28/07 at 3:31 am:
    I am being late but I’ll say it anyway: you’re obviously true, Elsa! I never had a doubt about that! I never felt differently.
    If someone thinks otherwise, I think what could make them truer would be to add descriptions to the conversation pieces you write. You know, physical appearances, ambient, background feelings, gestures and so on. Those are great helpers to the ability to picture something true happening. Not that it is necessary, but you could alternate them to the conversation… It may feel sort of artificial at first, but it can also suddenly feel like ‘how could I not add this detail?’
    How the soldier looks like? Where are you two? What are you two up to? How the coffeeplace/bar/diner feels like? What’s he doing as he says this? If on the phone, what you’re looking at as you say this now? Do you play with the wire, or scribble on the paper? (and what?) Does the communication hisses and crackles now? Is everything else silent?
    Generally speaking, I am always very curious to learn more of the surrounding details of a conversation… “when two persons talk, the world disappears” said a writer: it was to advice himself and other writers to break the conversation pieces with descriptions of the world revolving around them… well, always to get more of the truth of course.
    (I totally agree with what you say about writing true stories… I think I should be a Jupiter person too. But I love fiction… well, if it’s honest fiction, the fiction of the great writers: In some ways that kind of fiction feels truer than the truth –so maybe this preference’s consistent with being a jupiter person)
  30. Dija says on 2/28/07 at 4:54 am:
    I too have been reading Elsa since 2000.
    Real real real!! No doubt about it!
  31. Jennyg says on 2/28/07 at 6:17 am:
    I have been reading you for at least 5 years, since I started blogging myself. I knew you before your book was completed, before you knew HQ, when you still had links to pages and pages of writing that you had already done. That’s how I came to know Henry.
    Elsa is as real as it gets.
  32. Amber says on 2/28/07 at 6:42 am:
    Elsa, your writing is so extremely personal that I often wonder how you do it: communicating it, while making yourself highly vulnerable showing the world much of intense and diffuse processes going on in your life. The attraction in exactly that: you know through experience what you’re talking about, not by thinking it up.
  33. Bri says on 2/28/07 at 8:51 am:
    Elsa is real. Her stories are real. Her advice is real. If anyone doubts her veracity they are jealous and have a guilty conscience.
    Thanks Elsa for the great work you do!
  34. SekhmetDreaming says on 2/28/07 at 9:21 am:
    I know you’re real, pay no mind to that old battleax who says otherwise.
  35. Heather says on 2/28/07 at 9:27 am:
    Elsa was one of the first people I started reading on blogs back in 2001. I’ve taken a class with her, she has helped and inspired me and she is a real as it gets. She puts herself on the line, bares her soul and history to us in a way that very few have the courage to do and she does it, not to glorify herself, but to encourage and help us, her readers.
  36. Lisa says on 2/28/07 at 10:19 am:
    Holy shit! I have been reading Elsa for more than six years and I can tell you, there is nothing more real than Elsa.
  37. Carrieg says on 2/28/07 at 10:23 am:
    I haven’t been reading terribly long, less than a year I think.
    But I’ve never questioned your veracity. I’ve always felt like I’ve had a nose for that kind of thing.
    I file you in the, “It must be true because you can’t make that shit up” category :)
  38. Dae says on 2/28/07 at 10:43 am:
    I’ve been reading you here and at your blog for years now. And I’ve talked to you on the phone. You’re really real. :-)
  39. Molly says on 2/28/07 at 11:07 am:
    ugh! this is infuriating! you are the most real person i’ve ever been friends with! please keep on telling your life-story. and btw, i still want a copy! :-)
  40. MahEggo says on 2/28/07 at 1:13 pm:
    I have been with you since bianca brought me into xanga and have followed you here. I have read the stories and seen Scott come and comment on your site and read what he has had to say. His writing style is so different from yours there was no way to have had it been from your hand.
  41. kazual says on 2/28/07 at 1:31 pm:
    Elsa is 100% authentic and I love her.
  42. Rhiannon says on 2/28/07 at 6:55 pm:
    You cant find anyone more REAL than Elsa.
  43. Greywalker says on 2/28/07 at 7:40 pm:
    I’ve been reading Elsa for??? I have no clue for at least three years now. I have seen her be a lot of things but none of them a liar. She is odd and quirky and awsome but not a liar in any way.
  44. krisinluck says on 3/2/07 at 7:49 am:
    I’ve known Elsa since her pre-blogging days. I’ve lunched with her on a rare trip to her fair city.
    This woman has lived a life most of us cannot imagine. It made her who she is, which is an incredible human being with great insight and compassion for other human beings.
    Real? Moreso than most of us, I imagine.
  45. SaDiablo says on 3/2/07 at 10:02 am:
    What’s unreal is that someone would question your integrity. As-eff-fing-IF.
    Only been reading you, both here and xanga, around a year-ish, and there’s never been a doubt that you’re telling us the real, honest-to-pie truth. About whether you used a pseudonym, sure (until I actually looked at all the links here). . . but to doubt your content? Never, ever, EVAH.
    Sorry I’m late to the party, love, but you’re one of those people that, sight unseen, I would defend with my last breath. How’s that for authentic? :D
  46. Ariel says on 3/2/07 at 6:16 pm:
    Gosh, I sure hope you’re real Elsa, otherwise I’ve been reading and emotionally investing in a made-up person’s stories for the past five years! :)
  47. savetonight says on 3/3/07 at 12:51 pm:
    Hi Elsa.
    I read and I often don’t comment. I want to apologise for that but I often don’t feel I have anything meaningful to add to your posts!
    And to the people who doubt your authenticity: Elsa is one of the most real people on the internet. I think you’re probably just confounded by the extraordinariness of her life.
  48. Eddie says on 3/6/07 at 9:11 am:
    Elsa is the real deal. I’ve been reading her since 2000 and after that much time you get to know a person. I’ve also exchanged numerous email with her. I don’t think she is capable of being anything but transparent. I seriously don’t think it is possible.
  49. Stefano says on 3/21/07 at 11:23 pm:
    to the unknown emailer….
    dear mr. X, not only her stories are real as long as i’v ehad the opportunity to read, but she’s real too - and what a piece of reality ;-)-
  50. Lis says on 1/6/08 at 8:55 am:
    Anyone who would put your stories out here for all of us to read like you do is REAL. Don’t let some joker get you down…
    (Don’t people have anything better to do than write such idiotic emails?)
  51. Amber says on 1/6/08 at 10:10 am:
    The mention of the specifics makes it even more real to me.
  52. mudlikesubstance says on 1/6/08 at 11:01 am:
    Two things:
    1. About people responding to your story about Iran. We all know it happened. Some have read more detailed reports than others. What more is to be said. We all know that there were US military there. It’s cool that he’s the one. It’s pretty funny that he was there and didn’t see the “big picture” in the world because he was so young. It was probably safer for him to be able to focus on his work than to emotionally parse the meaning of it all as it was happening. (I’d guess he has thought about it over the years afterwards…)
    So, not much to say except - cool and I’m glad he was one of the ones who tried to help.
    2. Real. Elsa - real is what you make it. You make yourself real. Your energy is real. That’s what counts. Others may or may not receive your energy and gifts the way your regular readers do… that’s their problem. You offer a real story.
    I find it funny because I did something that is very well known in a mid-sized city. I started a non-profit. I don’t work there or in the field anymore but when I meet people and talk to them and say “I started x” their response is always one of surprise.
    What people don’t understand is that the people that do the famous, interesting things are NORMAL (kind of) people that live their lives in our world.
    You’re real. Don’t ever forget that your energy is real.
  53. goddess says on 1/6/08 at 12:37 pm:
    of course people wonder sometimes, because your life is outside the realm of ordinary experience. besides, many people make stuff up! when you read something like this from someone you haven’t met real life, you wonder at first. over time, you see consistency and pictures and supporting details that just don’t come out of thin air. you get more of a sense for who the person is (or believe you do, at least), and you make your own judgement. yes, after reading your stuff for the last 3 or 4 years now, i belive what you put out there is 100% real.
    people will always project on what others put out there. you have no control over that. even those that know you’re a real person will see and hear differnt than what you put out, because it’s all filtered though their perspective.
    i don’t know. does it matter about the ones that don’t believe you? i can tell it bothers you. but there will always be some who don’t believe it. that’s about them, not about you.
  54. Gayle Foster says on 1/6/08 at 3:13 pm:
    Your stories are often funny, the ones about the soldier asometimes bore me. I never asked myself if they are real or not; who cares, when they are entertaining, that’s all that matter.
  55. Tam says on 1/6/08 at 4:13 pm:
    It has never once entered my mind that you might not be telling the truth. What has entered my mind is that people talk to you as if you are a high paid elected official. They want your blog this way, they want you that way. WTF? I just want to scream at them sometimes! IT’S A PERSONAL BLOG BY A PRIVATE CITIZEN! Geez people.
  56. Neith says on 1/6/08 at 5:20 pm:
    Of course you are sharing stories about your life and they are real! But I agree with Goddess - if there are people who don’t believe you, it’s their problem. I am just happy you are willing to do this blog, tell your stories and tie them together with astrology, what could be better?! :)
  57. Gem says on 1/6/08 at 7:04 pm:
    I believe you are for real. I have been reading you for the last year or so and I never though I was reading a ficticious astrology blog. Didn’t think about it really, but I take people on what they tell me unless I hear/find out otherwise.
    I really do think I have pisces rising….:) I just believe.
  58. wyrdling says on 1/6/08 at 7:05 pm:
    why do people seem so unwilling to accept the strangeness life is capable of?
    or the blunt integrity you speak with?
    i’ve been reading, off and on, for six years.
    and it’s all just that. you couldn’t know some of the things you know without having been there.
    and there’s the inherent consistency that only comes from speaking truth.
    but. well. i hear stories similar to yours off and on, all the time. as strange, in their unique ways. i think life is just like that, and most people try to shut it up in the closet and ignore it because it disturbs them. or something like that.
    but perhaps it’s the company i keep. i don’t know.
  59. Gem says on 1/6/08 at 7:07 pm:
    Sorry, that was ‘thought’.
    And of course you are for real…sorry, I am under the weather, just woke up from a nap and am reading this and it is surreal…what the hell?
  60. Elsa says on 1/6/08 at 7:10 pm:
    >>IT’S A PERSONAL BLOG BY A PRIVATE CITIZEN! >>
    Tam, thank you. And while you’re at it, I am not really a fucking politician either. :-)
  61. saggal says on 1/6/08 at 9:08 pm:
    Very real, as you can see my old comment above. I haven’t commented on the Iran story because I just don’t know what to say. It is amazing to read, and I am really glad you posted it. I think some of your most powerful stuff often gets less comments because of its power, not because it lacks anything.
  62. Z says on 1/7/08 at 5:43 am:
    I’ve never doubted you’re real for a second and i dont think i’m a gullible type. Your realness is what attracted me to the site and i’ve had no reason to suspect otherwise. I understand your anger though - being called a liar when you live for truth must be frustrating (i hate being called a liar). Dont let the bastards get you down.
  63. Foxxy says on 1/7/08 at 9:57 am:
    Completely real, I even almost guessed your chart way back in the day on Xanga . .
  64. Deirdre says on 1/7/08 at 4:16 pm:
    Now here is what I call a testimony to Elsa’s Neptune at the Midheaven, the future bottomless blog that will be posted yearly until eternity to an uncountable number of invisible readers which states hereby so help us Gawd: Elsa doesn’t fib and the soldier is real, I, Deirdre, of sober mind and body do happily attest.
  65. Elsa says on 1/7/08 at 4:26 pm:
    Deirdre - LMAO! Someone just remind me ‘kay? Because I forget I am not real the same way I forget I am a drunk and a whore and some of the other things they call me!
  66. SaDiablo says on 1/20/08 at 4:19 pm:
    And an unfit mother waaaay before you had children, E. That one, too. :P
    Real, real, real, real, real. I’ll chant it 24/7 if I hazto.
    I honestly think that the people who doubt you are so caught up in their own lies/denials that they can’t recognize authenticity when they’re smacked by it. Reading through the comments again, I’m really struck by what Patti (comment 17) said. And being an inveterate Jupiter-esque truth-teller, and I know, know, KNOW to my bones that you are as well. You leak integrity like few others I’ve encountered.
    Water, ducks, backs, all that. We loves ya, baybee! ;)
