Perspective! The Sky Begs You Get Some (no pun)

Ask the collective

sagittarius ChristmasThe sky is full of Sagittarius and it’s an opportune time to think about your future. Where do you want to be in 12 years? Get those seeds in the ground!

“You just never know when your life is going to totally change,” I told the soldier. “Because I walked in that apartment when I was 17 and there you were. Now look what happens,”

“There you were too, and I did my best to charm you,” he said. “I immediately started charming you the best I could. I stood up when you came in the room and didn’t sit down until you did… next to me. You were trying to charm me too.”

“How?”
“Oh, you were doing this stuff with your eyes.”

“That’s embarrassing. Anyway, your son? (I have seen him on TV, the soldier has not). He looks really, really good. He’s grinning. He’s got that family grin and it’s very easy to see how he got his wife. How she would go crazy for him with that grin and all. He looks exciting and grand.”

“Well I sure hope so. I hope they stay together because he does love her.”

“Does he? He loves her?”

“Yeah. I know he loves her. He loves her! And I’ll tell you what I hope for him,” he said.

“What’s that?”

I hope he gets to take a bath with her for the next 30 years.”

What do you want for your children… or if you don’t have children, what do your parents want for you?

My parents want me to use my brain and be creative, because they know it makes me happy. They want me to be healthy and stop caring what people think, too, ha.

My parents were so careful to let me be and do what I wanted that I never really found out what they wanted for me. I’m sure they wanted me to be happy, but I don’t know how they thought I could manage it.

I want my children to live lives with few fears and many adventures.

My goal is to raise my daughter to be completely media-literate and mostly media-immune… She is being raised to recognize that our society’s screwed-up values aren’t necessarily congruent to the reality of what she’s all about. I’m trying to expose motives behind all of the ad campaigns she’s bombarded with daily, and she’s catching on nicely for an eight-year-old. Wise… We don’t do t.v., except for two hours of Saturday morning cartoons. And she’s fine with that.

I want her to understand that her natural, earthy brand of Taurus femininity is perfect exactly the way it is, no matter how she chooses to express it. And, while I’m consciously not sheltering her from all of this media noise, I want her to be able to walk through life intelligently and say “yes” to some things and “no” to what’s harmful.

In a nutshell, I want her to end up being able to navigate the screwed-up world we find ourselves in, and not become a victim to it; to run it rather than have it run her. She’s a smart one. She can do it.

I want my children to be happy. Comfortable in their own skins. Creative. To have fun where-ever they are. To be the best at whatever they choose to do as a job. To have a belief in God. To know that they can ALWAYS, ALWAYS come to me without fear of rejection or judgement. To change the world even in small ways and finally, to have at least one person love them wholeheartedly (romantically that is)
