The Oklahoma Ice Storm Story (Mercury Sextile Neptune Version)

Astrology in Real Life

oklahoma ice stormSpeaking of the story you tell yourself, Neptune is sextile Mercury in Sagittarius (as opposed to Saturn squaring some days ago) and listen to the soldier’s perspective on the ice storm…

“I’ve been emotional all day,” he said.

“Because your son is on TV?” I asked.

“Yeah, that and I’ve been thinking about your hair. Your hair and all the things going on right now. It’s the whirlwind, P. Ever since you did those 1 minute videos. Am I the only one who can feel the whirlwind?” he asked.

“Right now? Yes. I can’t feel it, I am doing other things.”

“The causalities are up to 23,” he said. “23 people were killed.”

The ice storm? On the road, this is?”

“Yeah. Worst ice storm in Oklahoma history. 1 million with no power and we were in it, P. We were there and we moved through that thing.”

“Yeah.”

“Yeah, we did. We moved down the road a little at a time. We ate Chinese food in that storm and we ate breakfast that was terrible… twice. We fought and got drunk and screwed in that storm and we kissed and took two baths. We had a tuna sandwich in that storm, with vegetables all over it and falling off it and you were cold.”

“I wanted to dance in that truck stop. I don’t know why you wouldn’t dance with me. I was cold as hell. I’d would rather dance than sit there and freeze.”

“And remember when we were in the truck repair? I had to show the mechanic where the fuse box was.”

lonesome dove“I remember. And they sent you outside to pee for Godsakes. What the hell? You can step out back and take a piss if you want. What an offer,” I said with a snort. “Who tells someone to go outside and piss?”

“Yeah and I went out there and did it with no coat too. You had my coat.”

“I know. Two coats and I’m still cold. I was really cold.”

“We got to see the end of Lonesome Dove in that storm.”

“And hear some of the new songs on the P2 cd and I also got to bootle,” I said.

“Yeah, you did some bootling. Anyway, P, it’s just another one of our adventures. It’s just like the biker bar. Something else we went through together. 23 people died and we can’t have… what do you call that? Transpire? Trans…”

“Transcend.”

“Yeah, transcend. We don’t even have time to do that and we’ve got another load on and we’re doing something else. Just another day in this life of you and I. This is how it is for us, P. We always manage no matter how much trouble we’re in and now we’ve been smack in the middle of Oklahoma’s worst ice storm ever and I just love you, that’s all.”

How did you fare in your version of the weekend’s storm?

a lot of work, and some excellent live music (such a heart-opening experience- i was giddy with joy- good atmosphere, good people, and an improv jam that just _flowed_.)
and some logistics mixups. but nothing unweildy. just a lesson i need to remember. or two.
and some gorgeous snow the past couple of days. and rain. but it was neat to drive through the snow again. don’t get the opportunity to do that much here. and the other drivers made me nervous, but traffic was really light.
altogether, i felt alive, and vivid- much preferable to monotony.

Oh, I´d love to see a movie on that icestorm weekend of yours, Elsa! It reads so beautiful and reflects safety in the middle of turmoil.
Reminds me of so much. Thanks!

My weekend? Nice. No storm. Cozy and warm and no complaints ;-).
