“I’m going to a place called, Speedy’s,” the soldier said.

“Oh yeah. Oh, that’s good, you can think about your pal, Speedy. How come you don’t get a hold of him anyway?”

He said he lost track of him 25 years ago.

“Well what’s his real name?”

“Roberto Gonzales. Gotta be a million of them.”

‘Yeah, that’s impossible. But I did like that guy.”

“Me too. That bastard used to steal my motorcycle. He’d steal it and I’d have to go look for it. And then I’d find it and he’d say, what are you going to do? Kick my ass? You can’t kick my ass. So then we’d get in a bare-knuckle fist fight.”

“I see.”

“And do you know what happened the first time we met?”

“What?”

“Well I met him right out of boot camp. He called me a white boy. He’s half Puerto Rican, half white so he called me a white boy and I said, who are you calling a white boy and we got in a bare-knuckle fist fight.”

“Oh brother.”

“Yeah and then I told everyone I was gonna kick his ass. I told the whole base I was gonna kick his ass, so he came up to me in the lunchroom and asked me who it was saying they were going to kick his ass. And I said, me. I’m the one saying I’m going to kick your ass because I am going to kick your ass, and next thing you know we were having a bare knuckle fist fight.”

I snickered.

“Yeah and then we found out we were going to be roommates. We didn’t want it, they assigned us so we got in a bare-knuckle fist fight over that too.”

I laughed.

“And then you came and stayed in the barracks. And you know how we’d push the bunks together and make a big bed?”

“Yeah.”

“Well he was living off base and I was staying off base with you and one time I left ‘em like that. I forgot to push ‘em back or something and they got left pushed together.”

“Uh oh.”

“Yeah. So then the door was open or something and some of the guys in the barracks saw that and started saying Speedy and I pushed them together… you know. They said we were sleeping together so of course there was another bare-knuckle fist fight over that. We pretty much got in a bare-knuckle fist fight over everything so after awhile we started scheduling them… (Saturn- Mars)
